Hi Sam. I think Ford is missing a big opportunity by not bringing the base model for the Mustang Mach E to Australia. In NZ, the base price cost 80K NZD, which is like 75K AUD. The base model in Australia cost 88K AUD, which is 13K more for a 30 km more range ( 470 km )and Panoramic Roof. If I'm going to spend 88K on a car, I would prefer to get a Tesla Model Y Long Range that got dual motors and 530 Km of range.

We want more affordable small cars with motorway (110km) capability. I don't care about big tech, infotainment, acceleration, top speed or blah blah just excuses to raise prices. A car that goes from A to B that I know is gonna work reliably for the next 10 years is all I want it doesn't even need speakers, I can just use my own Bluetooth speaker connected to my phone. Just a barebones EV please!

The problem with Teslas in Australia is insurance, it's very expensive or unobtainable (in places). Teslas are becoming uninsurable because their gigacastings, once damaged cannot be repaired, meaning they get totalled easily. Then there's the long lead time to get spare parts (months), meaning that replacement rental car costs are huge
The insurance industry has always been very quick to raise premiums for anything new or different. I can recall the fuss when 'metallic' paint colours were introduced; then there was HSLA steel in the 80s (now the norm); Now the Aluminium gigacastings, despite Rover and others having used Aluminium for decades. Remember: the insurers will screw you for as much as they can.
I had a Sportage. I was in a relatively minor T bone accident. The tow truck driver told me that once the airbags deployed, the vehicle was a write off. He was right, RACV wrote it off. Teslas are expensive compared to the Sportage. Insurance will be higher, obviously. There is also little history as yet, so the actuarial calculations are difficult. Subaru WRX owners know how hard insurance can be.
High Tesla insurance is total media FUD. I pay < $920 per year. The casting is not affected in a crash as it’s the main structure of the car. It only gets damaged in a serious accident in which case it’d be a write off just like any other car. Conversely the BMW i3 is fully carbon fibre and can become a write off due to cracking from a small shunt. Nothing in the media about that, BMW pay their advertising taxes.
@@MarksElectricLife That's for now. Do you know how insurance companies work? As the totalled Tesla numbers rise, your premiums will go up too. Google it, plenty of people already seeing big jumps. So enjoy it while it lasts.

I will never have an electric car, simply because they're a terrible fire risk. Ask any fire department, and they will tell you, an electric car fire is extremely difficult to put out. They require huge amounts of water over many hours, to extinguish, and even then, can still catch fire again afterwards. The problem is, they have lots of small lithium batteries, that if the contents are exposed to air (say, in an accident), can catch fire, and burn fiercely, so I will never put myself or my family at risk, by buying one of these potential death traps. Do some research, and you'll find this very true. If they can power them by some other 'safe' means in the future, I might change my mind, but at the moment, they're simply too dangerous. No thank you, I'll pass!

Where is my eight wheel drive Cybertruck in camouflage with R2D2 and gun racks as an option? Come on Elon come on come on!
Seems to me that all these new arrivals are hell bent on robbing us blind... They all expect too much for their cars.
Someone else said this so Im mr plagiarism but I think model3 is going on a y platform.
You're good with me. It's an obvious move. Could never plagiarise as much as Sam here.
Maybe tell us which are less than 40K? 😂😂😂
Meanwhile, back in the real world........ ;-)
