Habitation is where you live. And since we're talking about how words are related, coûtume (a custom, something we do traditionally) and costume are also related. Oh and a business (or formal) suit in French is a 'costume'

This works. I’m a college athlete who loves to compete in everything. I find that asking what you would need to do right now to get to your desired goal is what separates one person from everyone else. If you do what you shouldn’t do then you will never get there. If you should do something do it

There are there elements to Goal Settings 1. Type of person we are 2. Set of action which needed to be done 3. Outcome Now, if you are type of person then you'll do those type of things and when you do those type of things you become the type you are. So, you see it's like a cycle. Look man, Winners and Losers have the same goal. What separates them are the Action they take. We do the the type of things based on our Identity and our Identity become on the basis of type of things we do. So we can change our Identity by changing the type of actions we do and similar we can change the type of actions by changing our Identity. We have to ask ourselves “ What ______________” would do? And if you don't know what that person do, most often times we do know what we want/need to do.

Tons of Gems here Alex! *Heres one to share with everyone* "Comparison is the theif of joy" the only logical comparison for us to ever make - and of course this is the one that benefits us most on the psychological and confidence building front is comparing our present selves to our past. HEre its easy to see and feel our wins grounded inreality instead of doing the more common make believe bs whereby we compare ourselves to either the future version of us we havent reached yet or compare towards another human.
I do remember the first one who introduced me and my husband to the amazing concepts in this video was Rich Schefren. He taught me the BE, DO, HAVE model, then he taught me how to model the right people and do it mindfully, he taught me thats its all about action because it delivers results and results is what strengthen the believe and led to more results oriented actions and success, its not the affirmations and all of that bullshit. He is an amazing mentor just like you Alex, Thank you.💟

thank you for sharing this Alex. many gems in this video. At this stage of my life, the one that resonated strongly was, “The people who achieve the really extraordinary things do the uncommonly obvious things for an inordinate period of time.” Most solutions to life‘s problems are simple (not easy). We add layers of complexity to make the solutions hard.
Atomic Habits and this concept helped me loose 50lbs. I keep struggling with weight loss because I keep setting goals and falling. Then I decided to become the identity of the person who never misses a workout. And that evenaully lead to weight loss and more. Now I'm literally a fit person because I embraced the identity of a person who never misses a workout. Started applying this to all kinds of areas in my life. It will literally change your life. Great content Alex. Want to read 50 books a year? Ok, what kind of person do you need to be? A reader, and what kind of things does a reader do? Maybe read 30 mins a night? Cast votes for the type of person you want to become.
Thanks Alex. Interesting you refer to philosophy, in ancient Greek one of the concepts to strive for was an exemplar, a perfect form and expression of something. Achieving the perfect exemplar of something or someone, its essence, was a driving force to strive for expression of it. Your suggestion to ask the question, what would x do, have shattered the elusive barriers before me. Many thanks, the day I found you was a pivotal day in my life. Grateful for you both.
Awesome, thanks bro. I like that these appear to be nearly universal principles within this space, but at the same time you have your own unique way of explaining them. You're very clear and comprehensible. I look forward to checking out more of your content.
Insane value for free, quick reminder to appreciate the fact that this content is free and it is more powerful/useful/valuable than the 99,99% of paid content on internet. Wish you all the best.
Your business advice is always so RELEVANT and so perfectly articulated my friend. For those of you who have or have not hit their first million yet- I cannot even begin to tell you how powerful these suggestions he is giving you are. They are complete brain changers and will get you on the path to real results. I can vouch 100%
Notes I took: 3 elements to goal External result - make money, 6 pack etc Processes/behavior/activity- doing the work Being the type of person who does those things- identifying with or being the type of person who does those behaviors BE, DO, HAVE What would a billionaire do? What would a bodybuilder do? What would your ideal self do? As you continue making those decisions, that’s the person you will slowly become Habits will naturally fix themselves if you are acting in accordance with the person you want to be Identity: identical -> repeating Entity -> being You are what you repeat. You can actively change who you are based on what you do and it becomes a cyclical reinforcing process when you have that identity in mind Describe the person you want to become on paper and ask what they would do whenever you get to a crossroads. Do this daily. We must be reminded more often than we need to be taught. We usually know what we should be doing, we just don’t do it. If you don’t know what that person would do, think about someone just below them until you know what they’d do and try to talk to these people for next time. Those who are extraordinary take the uncommonly obvious steps for an inordinate period of time. That is who they are, their identity. It isn’t to complete a goal or have an outcome. This allows them/you to play the game indefinitely because you become it.
So, if I understood correctly to get what you want instead of setting goals you need to constantly ask yourselt "what would this person that I am to become do" or "what would do" and by constantly asking it and getting the answer - immediately doing it which will enforse my new identity and eventually I'm gonna do these things not just to get that goal but because that's who I am and that will allow me to go further than others and do more than them and achieving that goal will be a byproduct of the person I've become.
I have to say I'm super impressed with your podcasts, you actually give good advice and not just the same rigamarole that all those gurus give out. Keep up the great work:)
Goals -> direction Two people same goals One person achieves it, one doesn’t Behaviour that created that goal Activities that will generate Activity associated with goal Know the activity and don’t vs do Why don’t they How to correct it Asking myself the question What will this person who does this type of thing do in my situation? E.g.: What would a billionaire do? What would someone 10x smarter than me do What would the best husband in the world do? Repeated over and over :) Place on post it note spaced you see the most. Give ourself evidence of being this type of person Book: Atomic habits Once we know who we want to become … Clarity
Thanks for sharing, I also enjoyed that book and later went to read 7 habits of highly successful people by Stephen Covey. After optimizing your day, learning how to schedule your week efficiently is a must if we want to actually reach the goals. Those two books complement each other perfectly in my opinion.
Wow. Just found out about you and this channel. Blown away. I resonate with everything that was said. Great job. Can’t wait to watch your other stuff and get going!
thank you so much this really resonated for me in my current situation especially when you said "we already know what to do, it's more about reminding ourselves". Eventually you have to move away from the self-help to learning whatever subject you want to dominate and stay on your path by asking yourself what would an successful X person do when your making decisions.
12:38 tactical action: What to ask when you are at a crossroads. So good. I never really thought about identity until I heard James Clear and Ed Mylett talk about it. But the way you said: Identity instead of To Do list - ah ha moment.
Great reminder. When I was young, my friend Jesse was my example of confidence. I used to ask myself often "WWJD?" For writing jokes, I use Norm Macdonald, and for learning Russian, I have this Vlad character in my head to remind me of the language structure. I hear their voices in my head and it helps me see a path forward.
Collect evidence for the person you are becoming by doing the activities. Incredible. You have evidence of being a sportive person by being sportive. You have evidence of being a smart person by constantly asking yourself "what would a smart person do?", and then doing it. Thank you so much Alex!!
I will always have a debt to pay forward to this man. He may never know it but he helped changed the course of my life with these videos and for that I have the upmost respect for him.
“What we repeatedly choose to ask ourselves creates our identity which creates the tasks we do and the actives we spend our time on reinforces the story we tell ourselves of who we are.”
"Lightbulb" - Such a simple drilldown to achieve success in one's goal oriented actions... I'm literally stunned at both the simplicity and effectiveness of this internal script shift. I'll be starting today. Thank you!
Phenomenonal video @alexhormozi. Love how well you articulate things! I've always struggled with goal setting as I have so many things I want to do/be/accomplish etc that it gets overwhelming and ends up with lack of action towards most of them. Putting it into perspective like this is a game changer. I actually have been doing a similar thing for a while where I'll push through a workout by asking what would a viking warrior do right now for example lol. So I can deffo imagine the power in this when having to make constant daily choices that could either progress you or hinder you.
10:30 when hormozi talks calling on different entities like warren buffet and charlie munger or when faced with different situations- is similar way gods in Hinduism are used
Currently in what feels like “the bottom” for me and my wife. We started asking ourselves what would a millionaire do/ what would a fit person do, and it helps to clear your mind and focus on the decisions the person you want to become will make. This video is proof we’re on the right path. Thanks Alex.
An idea can change a life. Lessons learned: Nike Motto “Just Do It”. And have the mindset of the people I look up to and choose to be them in key moments of my day. Thank you Alex!
Man you are changing my life, i'm 17 and i'm from Italy i've read your book and it is AWESOME. Thank you for it. I'm starting my business thanks to your video and your book and my sentence in the computer is: "What Alex Hormozi would do in this situation?".
There is also a mirroring idea of this process that I have seen Peterson draw on. The idea is thinking about your actions as if you were someone caring for yourself in a situation. For example if someone you cared for was very sick what would you do to look after them? what would you discourage? what further help would you seek? Taking this idea then onto yourself allows you to see clearly actions and ongoing circumstances you can apply and take your life in a desired direction. Much like what Alex is saying it negates the constant need for over working of lists and analysis and actually leading to ACTIONS and becoming the person that takes them! GREAT video 🦾
My new mindset is “What would Alex Hormozi do?”

Habitation is where you live. And since we're talking about how words are related, coûtume (a custom, something we do traditionally) and costume are also related. Oh and a business (or formal) suit in French is a 'costume'

I'm doing this because I don't want my pain to be in vain. Wow, that's a powerful phrase. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience!
You are the channel I have been searching for to watch for months. This video is full of value! Preach!
Great vid 👌
bro, you just smacked 10 years off my learning curve in 16 minutes. 🤯 GOAT
Golden nuggets in every one of your videos. Thanks Alex!!! implementing this “What would this type of person do?” immediately.
Thanks Alex
I always used this line of question “what would a confident person do” whenever I’m lacking confidence then I immediately embody the habits of that said person… however I never thought to use this for my business 🤔
I’m learning a lot from you & leila
Your identity shapes your beliefs, which drive your thoughts, which drive your emotions, which drive your actions, which produce your results.
"We need to be reminded more than we need to be taught." Amen. As always, thanks for the wisdom, insights and experiences.
Ty... You breaking down this has changed my life
"We need to be reminded more then we need to be taught." - Love this thought.
Learning is simply connecting the known to the unknown
Amir Akbari - 👍I love that quote too.💝
“than” not “then”
“We need to be reminded more *than* we need to be taught”
Great observation
This really is Pinnacle Wisdom Stuff. I have been working towards this for conclusion for 47 years and Alex has articulated and encapsulated it all eloquently and with simplicity in 16 mins. What a blessing! Thank you so much for this! The entire world is gonna be blessed beyond measure because of the impact and ripple effect messages like these carry.
This works.
I’m a college athlete who loves to compete in everything. I find that asking what you would need to do right now to get to your desired goal is what separates one person from everyone else. If you do what you shouldn’t do then you will never get there.
If you should do something do it

Thank you for providing the immeasurable value you give to anyone who is willing listen.
Bro I love you man, super inspiring, real and not deuchy unlike a lot of other male “role models” out there. Keep it up brother
I don't know if Alex is aware that other creators are using that phrase, "I got nothing to sell you" right before they start trying to sell you shit, "this book is completely free and with the seminar that comes along with it..." So the book is free but what comes next is not, Thanks Alex for really really not try to sell anything, it gives all your content so much value knowing you don't have another hidden agenda or hidden products. Thanks.
There are there elements to Goal Settings
1. Type of person we are
2. Set of action which needed to be done
3. Outcome
Now, if you are type of person then you'll do those type of things and when you do those type of things you become the type you are.
Just found you recently at a time when your help is truly necessary, I'm not too sure where I heard it were talking about having mentors that you never even meet before but I appreciate your work because the work you do ultimately is affecting lives and helping people grow and create businesses and flourishment so I just wanted to hop on here and take a minute of my time to say I appreciate the work you do Thank you Alex
It took me years to learn this completely until I learned neurolinguistic programming.
And this guy said it in a different but powerful way.
Thank you very much.
You can tell that Alex has read a lot of books and took action and is now teaching us what he has learnt.
Learn - Do - Teach
Tons of Gems here Alex! *Heres one to share with everyone* "Comparison is the theif of joy" the only logical comparison for us to ever make - and of course this is the one that benefits us most on the psychological and confidence building front is comparing our present selves to our past. HEre its easy to see and feel our wins grounded inreality instead of doing the more common make believe bs whereby we compare ourselves to either the future version of us we havent reached yet or compare towards another human.
Golden! Alex you explain things in a way that just clicks with anyone.
Have you asked everyone?
It's called being egotistical. Just brag brag. And he tries to tell you how awesome he is he forgets to take a breath so he tries both same time...
It’s a simple and effective way to frame it all all. I’m going to try it, instead of thinking of 20 things I need to remember to hack it.
He is an amazing mentor just like you Alex, Thank you.💟
WOW! 😀 It's soo weird. 😮 I just realized the same thing yesterday on my own and my mind was blown like "WOW, so this is how it works 🤔". And today morning first thing after waking up I started scrolling in youtube 🙃 and I pumped into this video. It was amazing to hear Alex confirming all of it. 👀 💗 Thank you for the video, Alex!
A course on how to gain this mindset would set people bounds ahead of where they are currently.
This guy's on a roll, identity = repeated being..you become what you always do
Asking yourself more high valuable question is the key for success. This is definitely one. Thanks Alex
100%!! This is exactly what I did with my fitness. Now I get to do this with $. Your video is perfect timing for my next level. Thank you!
Asking this question and making it the "chorus" of my day is slowly changing my life. Constantly asking yourself this question changes your whole mindset when attacking your daily tasks and really sets the tone for every single day. Thank you for dropping this knowledge Alex!
Mr. Hormozi, Thank you.
Man, there is so much value in this video! Well done, you can really tell when someone talks from experience instead of just reading a script. Definitely will share this video! Much love to everyone!
I find it hard listing my daily task and forcing my self to do things. With this kind of advice, everything seems to more easier, glad i clicked on this helpful video
thank you for sharing this Alex. many gems in this video. At this stage of my life, the one that resonated strongly was, “The people who achieve the really extraordinary things do the uncommonly obvious things for an inordinate period of time.”
Most solutions to life‘s problems are simple (not easy). We add layers of complexity to make the solutions hard.
Guy is a great communicator. That's why he made it
Atomic Habits and this concept helped me loose 50lbs.
Funny enough because it’s free many people won’t take it serious
@@datsuprakidbackup8 so true
Your business advice is always so RELEVANT and so perfectly articulated my friend. For those of you who have or have not hit their first million yet- I cannot even begin to tell you how powerful these suggestions he is giving you are. They are complete brain changers and will get you on the path to real results. I can vouch 100%
What did you do?
Notes I took:
3 elements to goal
External result - make money, 6 pack etc
Processes/behavior/activity- doing the work
Being the type of person who does those things- identifying with or being the type of person who does those behaviors
BE, DO, HAVE
What would a billionaire do?
What would a bodybuilder do?
What would your ideal self do?
As you continue making those decisions, that’s the person you will slowly become
Habits will naturally fix themselves if you are acting in accordance with the person you want to be
Identity:
identical -> repeating
Entity -> being
You are what you repeat. You can actively change who you are based on what you do and it becomes a cyclical reinforcing process when you have that identity in mind
Describe the person you want to become on paper and ask what they would do whenever you get to a crossroads.
Alex- this is the most valuable video I’ve ever consumed. I Love You and Leila ❤️ thank you both for everything you selflessly give us
So, if I understood correctly to get what you want instead of setting goals you need to constantly ask yourselt "what would this person that I am to become do" or "what would do" and by constantly asking it and getting the answer - immediately doing it which will enforse my new identity and eventually I'm gonna do these things not just to get that goal but because that's who I am and that will allow me to go further than others and do more than them and achieving that goal will be a byproduct of the person I've become.
Hi Alex,
I am a 30 year old entrepreneur and philosopher.
Your videos have become my favorite on TH-cam.
Thank you for sharing.
Everyone is an ”Entreprenuer”
Just say what you fucking do
I have to say I'm super impressed with your podcasts, you actually give good advice and not just the same rigamarole that all those gurus give out. Keep up the great work:)
Goals -> direction
Two people same goals
One person achieves it, one doesn’t
Behaviour that created that goal
Activities that will generate
Activity associated with goal
Know the activity and don’t vs do
Why don’t they
How to correct it
Asking myself the question
What will this person who does this type of thing do in my situation?
E.g.: What would a billionaire do?
What would someone 10x smarter than me do
What would the best husband in the world do?
Repeated over and over :)
Place on post it note spaced you see the most.
Give ourself evidence of being this type of person
Book: Atomic habits
Once we know who we want to become …
Clarity
What i appreciate about Alex is his honesty and openness
Love the what would Jesus do explanation this is the first thing that came to my mind
me too because its so ridicioulus actually
Arguably the most powerful video I’ve seen from you yet. Thanks Alex
Its good to watch an actual successful man, no sponsors. Knows what attention is worth
Thank you Alex! My husband and I have been watching your content and we just love every nugget you put out there! Truly appreciate your videos!!!
I’ve watching hours and hours of your discussion of business, life and being human. I truly appreciate what you do. Great video.
The identity you believe you are is what shapes your life.
Bro, you really changed my life. Thank ya
I’ve heard countless people use the term “be the person you want to become”
You’re the first to actually explain it
Thanks ‼️💯✍🏾
Very thankful to watch this video. been watching you since 200k Brodie
Mine has been, "what would Chomsky do" Definity makes you a better person but not richer
“What we repeatedly choose to ask ourselves creates our identity which creates the tasks we do and the actives we spend our time on reinforces the story we tell ourselves of who we are.”
Excellent as always Alex 🎉👌 this has me in a reframe mindset of ‘what would The Recruiting Guy Do?’
Excellent advice. Your approach addresses any situation that may confront us. Thanks Alex!
Love it.
Epictetus said - first say to yourself who you would be , then do what you have to do
Lol I’ve been asking myself something a bit less abstract
“What would Alex Hormozi do?”
Lol keep up the great content!
Haha me too! Way more progress in the past few months using that phrase. 😀
I thought the same thing! Awesome content delivered here!
Bro this man is the man . I am so speechless on how smart and wise he is.
Damn! Made a contract with myself that I wont be happy until I get what I want.
That was deep!
came to say this...I agree..that hit me...
An idea can change a life.
Lessons learned:
Nike Motto “Just Do It”.
Good luck Mario! Keep on striving forward!
Do yourself a massive favor and read the book he mentioned, atomic habits. I wish that book was out when I was your age.
Alex... Bro.. you have reached a different level with your advice. That's ultra top level.
10:00 I’m here for the Alex hormozi Jesus references 😁
Ruslan… you’re here!!
GREAT video
