The easiest business I can help you start (free trial): www.skool.com/...
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $250,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

A someone who went from having “bad/okay” sleep to terrible sleep (as a result of researching how to sleep better) this video is probably the best I’ve seen on the topic. And in my personal experience the most important part is the beliefs. Phenomenal video as always 👏
Scam
Omg. I did the same thing. Once I researched how to slee better, what position, I can’t get comfortable anymore. Sleeping is painful to be honest
@@Guy_Montag it’s crazy, best thing I did was stop caring again 😂
Watching this video makes me wonder, Alex can you make a video on some of those front load “do it once and benefit forever” business tips. Explaining some things for business that you can knock out or set up in the begging that will aid in longevity. Thanks for the tips
Update: I’m reading his book $100M Offers and he basically explains this process on how to put in place tools that aid in longevity. Definitely recommend checking that book out if you haven’t already.
12:50 I use Bose's Sleep Buds and they've been awesome for reduced environmental noise / added whitenoise. Particularly for myself as I tend to sleep on my side so headphones weren't ideal. Have been using them every night for about two years
Just in case that's helpful for anyone else.
Might be for me thank you
@@fuzuzafitness8354 glad it helps! It takes a little getting used to over a couple nights, but after that they're great.
I want to get it but what if there is a fire? Will I hear the alarm? Will I hear the morning alarms? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Dude ... Sleep is literally my biggest battle right now ... again a very sincere thank you !
Omega 3 Healthy Fats & Magnesium are also great for quality sleep.
This couldn't be more true for me.
I used to bartend 80 hours a week for years before I made the switch to contracting as a software engineer.
Now, I do work a lot but I make sure I get at least 8-9 hours in. And one day a week I'll sleep for as long as I physicallly need to and it massively helps
Great as always, Alex!
Hey man pretty cool you made the switch from bartending. Did you go to school for software engineering or are you self taught? Looking for advice for getting as I am currently self learning but I do plan on going back to uni for comp science
@@abz4852 im self taught! Its a neverending journey to be honest but doable and both options are viable.
What resources did you use specifically and how long did it take you to land a job self-teaching yourself?
due to corona some universities put up their lectures on youtube, could be a great start
How did you get the skills for a Software engineering if you were a bartender? how did you learn that...
It really gives emotional stability and if you sleep enough hours, your brain works better. Establishing some habits in this matter is important! People should never underestimate the power of having a good sleeping routine. 💯
Agreed. I’ve noticed I can be set off pretty easily if I’m sleep deprived compared to fully rested
You finally addressed the nose thing all of us have been wondering about for more than year
😂😂😂
Stupid ppl bother me.
Thanks so much Alex. On the Neti Pot...I have had the same troubles and have had surgery too. To avoid burning, put in salt, baking soda and xylitol. Use body temp water. I use 1 part salt 1 part xylitol and 1/2 part baking soda. The soda stops the burning. If I get an infection which I now rarely do, I put in a drop of oregano oil and shake the hell out of it. Problem solved. Adjust the mix til it feels good. It is a miracle. I sleep with a headband under my chin and over my head to stop my mouth from opening and thus my nose stays clear. You are an amazing teacher. I am so glad my son found you. Thanks!
This was exactly the video I needed. I've been having sleep problems for awhile and I found that my quality of sleep plays a huge factor in how well my day goes. I'm definitely gonna try out the salt tabs before bed to prevent the need to use the restroom in the middle of the night.
Well we qqqqqqqqjjssssssssssss jaffttatip
If you have to get up in the middle of the night to go to the restroom. Chances are you arent getting enought oxygen, because of snoring / breathing through the nose. Try taping your mouth shut before falling asleep. Worked wonders for me
@R. Engedeck look it up online
@@publicvoid1471 or you know.. water
I have a weighted blanket, i notice it doesnt really improve my sleep BUT it does help me fall asleep faster. If you keep the room cold and sink into a weighted blanket, that is the best sleep ever haha.
As a stay home mom I needed this. I was using my children's schedule as an excuse but if I take a nap by 1 I can still wake up at 5 each day and get sooo much more done before they wake up!
This might be too late based off your kids age, but you should look up “taking Kara babies” to get your babies to sleep throughout the night. I don’t have children, however, my best friend and his fiancée did it with their now-2-year-old. It works, from what they’ve told me
Oh my gosh! I didn’t realize how my beliefs on sleep was actually pretty toxic and was stressing me out . This is gonna change everything !
Dude you share so much value! I love your self talk examples so much. When I stopped complaining about not getting a perfect 8 hours it really helped.
10:41 you should get an Eight Sleep! next level upgrade from A/C
Totally agree about pillows. I love snuggling into like a ton of pillows, it makes bed a sleeping nest- SO cozy!
Love this energy! I’m not even done watching til the end! 😂
I always watch his videos to the end 😅
Look up Jeff Nichols. He is really knowledgable on the benefits of sleep.
Amazing video! I think Alex may have created the best video about improving sleep on the entire TH-cam platform. The level of value he provides is unmatched.
The thing I like about your content, Alex, is that you always give more than expected. This video is about getting better sleep, but is also about accepting that as humans we are not perfect. Thanks.
I just tried the hand motion for clearing the nostril and I almost cried. I have a hard time breathing due to my cleft palate and none of the traditional advice has helped me so far. I am so happy, you wouldn't even believe it. I always wake up with a sore throat because I have to sleep with my mouth open. I'm gonna buy breathing strips asap!

Love your authenticity man, you talk real shit and I appreciate you adding value in all of us. Keep up the good work!!
For those curious about the sleep multiplier, you can achieve the same thing with the following ingredients:
* L-Theanine
* Magnesium L-Threonate (or just Threonate) and
* Apigenin
Those 3 together really, really help with sleep. My sleep score went up 10 points, and although I haven't checked out this sleep multiplier he talks about, it's probably very similar.
Buy them separately, get them in powder form if you can, and you'll save an absolute motza.
Thanks dude, I know most of this about sleep but I'm still struggling with the routine and it was great to have the reminder and some actionable solutions.
Hey, how long have you been struggling with your routine?
@@JordanTomasone I was struggling with that from around 23 to 27. Then I realized the thing that was holding me back the most was to be reasonable with my consumption of video games. So I had to stop playing them all together. And now - step by step - I have good sleep schedule (which helped alot with overall physical and mental well being)
@@johannesschmitz6370 that's amazing 😊 so happy for you!
@@johannesschmitz6370 I plan on doing the exact same! I'm 'completing' this final game I'm playing, and then never returning and moving on. What have you done to fill what would feel like a 'gap' ?
couple o points here, that Matt Walker and Huberman has been talking about. You do actually, also, want to eliminate overhead lights (at least not have them turned on) since these are the most efficient at blunting your melatonin response (due to the position of the cells in the eyes responsible for circadian anchoring). Dim lighting, preferably, at ground level is still okay if you need to light up your environment at night.
Black out curtains can be a good idea, but having sunlight coming in through your windows are similarly helpful since your eyelids still let light pass. Heating up the room is also beneficial to aid the increase in body temperature that eventually wakes you up.
Getting up at night to pee is only an issue if they coincide with insomnia type symptoms (not being able to fall asleep again). If you fall asleep quickly and you don't feel groggy in the morning, it's fine.
You should also drink fluids before bed, it's important to be hydrated. Obviously don't drink so much that it messes up with your peeing. Hydrate first thing when waking up, ideally room temperature water (easier to drink). Bottom line is, if you don't have peeing issues at night, don't "not drink for hours before sleeping". Actually do still drink fluids it's really fucking important. Mouth breathers will know this. (Don't be a mouth breather).
Sunlight viewing HAS TO BE RIGHT AFTER WAKING. It can't be a lunch thing. You need circadian entrainment FIRST THING. Or your internal clocks will slide. It quite literally has to be within the first hour of waking, ideally as fast as possible. Sundown viewing can fortify you against evening artificial light and further enhance your entrainment but it's not as essential (i think).
Otherwise good points.
If anyone having breathing issue that’s messing up your sleep, I would suggest first cutting dairy products and then things like rice. I used to eat rice like 5 times a day ..it clogs up our nose big time … avoid food that causes inflammation… I stopped dairy products and cut down on my rice intake .. some fruits and vegetables can also trigger allergies and clog up your nose .. find out which ones, if any, and avoid those. And if those don’t work, see if you have a nasal deviated septum issue. Sleep apnea could be an issue too.
TH-cam keeps recommending your videos to me. Maybe because im a middle aged business owner that at some point searched for something related to business. Glad i found you though. Could use a lot of your wisdom. Always learning something new is my motto. Hope to one day be able to talk. New to this youtube communication channel.
Got a white noise machine for our 6 week old… Its the best LOL

Shit like this is why I love youtube despite all of its problems. I got this randomly recommended and this might be some of the best advice available on the internet.
Thank you Alex! Katy Bowman and Andrew Huberman are doing great work with biomechanics and recommend a lot of similar things :) I live furniture free and don't sleep with pillows. Makes you incredibly mobile :)
2 tips
Get a device that measures oxygen levels through the night, make sure you have enough oxygen in your room over night. Opening a window will ensure you have enough oxygen.
Sleep in a cold room, 65 degrees optimizes the amount of deep sleep one gets.
Is it okay to have plants, I have the idea they will deplete oxygen when they're through one part of photosynthesis
@@arielmetamorphosis correct, it's not anwell known fact that plants do do this. Once photosynthesis is over then plants start producing co2, so the oxygen level in the room actually decreases.
Wish i had been learning stuff like this years ago. Destroyed myself gaming late and being depressed to go to school. 30 now and just finally feel like im really starting to get things together.
Same but I also did drugs and raves habitually after I quit gaming. I learned to forgive myself, live healthier and now I'm on a good path. And I'm sure you will be too! 30 is young by today's standards
Adding to intake tipps my personal experience: I have some allergies and for me it was a game changer to use self-made ocean salt nose spray w 1 drop of iodine (lugols) and 1 mint oil. This was my personal "life saver" and I have it stored in my fridge, using this in the morning and in the evening, when I am going to bed.
“Life is short, Sleep on a good pillow” 😂
I got like 6 pillows lol
Work so hard in the day that you could sleep in any condition. That's the only fact you need.
as a kid you couldnt care less about sleep yet you sleep 12 hours a night waking up refreshed as ever but the moment you start caring about ur sleep quality you face all kinds of sleep problems
So weird, i was literally just thinking about this... people don't realize how important sleep is... hustle culture is counter productive.
So much value. the best 28 minutes, i have ever spent.
bro i wish i had you as a brother you are a very smart person my brother just texted me things that are horrible just because he’s jealous it’s really sad but i don’t care i keep pushing my goals and success crazy what people say when they’re jealous
Great stuff. Just purchased a new mattress, sleep mask, and nose strap. Looking to buy more things soon. Thank you Alex for this inspirational output.
Your content is so good! But the energy in this video is amazing! Good stuff!
I taped aluminum foil to my windows and my sleep life changed forever.
Oh shit!!!! I'm taking a number of supplements for the sake of my health, and one of the side effects has been waking up in the middle of the night from drinking water much later in the day than I was prior... Literally a minute into the video and I get the knowledge bomb of taking some salt before I sleep. Might seem like a tiny throwaway comment but this could potentially be the most valuable thing I've learned all year. Off to down some salt before I sit the sack.
Alex, you're smart, relative to other humans. I suppose, you could consider that a compliment. Don't be too sure that the universe doesn't care, because you are the universe observing itself. Fun thought. Been enjoying your informative & motivational videos lately. Thank you!
What messes up my sleep is my night shift job .. 15 years of night shift .. lol ..I can sleep like a baby right after work but if I’m off in between, it messes up my sleep ..this year I might start working day shift ..

I agree with all of this that sleep is super beneficial though I must mention what I have experimented with and can say has a significantly greater effect on nearly all the factors that you're measuring which sleep improves, and this thing is Testosterone, which the higher levels you have, the less you experience the negative effects of fatigue.
8:25 work hard play hard but rest easy. If you rest hard you won't rest at all
I absolutely love your content. I built my first business by having one manic episode after another. I have bipolar disorder.
Sleep consistency has become incredibly important to me. It is the number one thing I do to manage my moods. This is something we should be prescribing as medication.

I was dealing with sleep apnea and playing the didgeridoo helped immensely, as crazy as it sounds lol
Much appreciate you taking the time to create this content for us. 🤘🏼
I have issues with congestion etc all day all night so the nasal tips were great. Especially on winter time it’s horrible. I don’t like sleeping with a heater on, I prefer to be crashed by the blankets to have warmth and the occasional body heat from my wife. I can sleep in a second, after 7 o’clock on workdays and anytime on Sundays! I LOVE sleeping in the dark, but sleeping naked is an issue as i wake up from crushing my privates, especially when you have kids is not a good idea. My blood type is basically black coffee. I created this bad habit due to the pressure and stress at work where i have to perform 200% and its all brain work. I need about 5-6 hours of sleep or I’m a grumpy zombie. I don’t use meds or supplements! And still i am gaining weight (needs to watch what type of food i eat and eat slower) and still far from a millionaire, yet i put all this work and effort. 🤷♂️
As some one who works night shift i see this as an absolute win
+1 on a good mattress. Generally, anything that separates you from the ground, spend good money on. Shoes, mattress, tires, etc.
Here a couple of thing that worked for me glycine improves REM sleep.
Cold room but have a heat pad on your feet done studies that heating the feet make people fall asleep faster.
Buy red light unit photobiomodulation turn that on instead of led light you might have on.
Ltheanine, apigenin, zinc, niacin. all good supplement that aid in sleep.
humming improves nitrogen in the nose making it easy to breath.
Like yourself, I used to have breathing issues for years (20+), did a similar thing adjusting my nose manually to open up the airways, had a nasal surgery - nothing worked. Drastically reducing carbs intake, especially grains, was absolute magic. Completely solved my breathing issues. I still use the nasal strips at night, but it’s more out of habit rather than need. Would recommend trying carb reduction for a couple months to anyone with breathing issue.
I have the same issue, with the nasal blockages!
So if you reduce carbs, what do you eat instead?
@@newt2120 protein, veggies, fat and still some carbs (you don’t exclude carbs completely, just consume a lot less of them) but no grains or added sugar. I believe excluding grains and also gluten was a big factor for me. I would still have some gluten free pasta, rice or a potato with no issues. But if I have oatmeal for example, my nose is stuffed two hours later like clockwork. It takes time to get used to and the transition can be tough because we’re literally addicted to carbs, but once you’re off of them, it’s very easy to maintain.
Great energy with this presentation Alex. Mahalo

I have a Sunrise alarm clock, it begins to brighten slowly 30min before the alarm, the alarm is the gentle sound of birds chirping. This eliminated my alarm anxiety, and the use of a snooze button

Another tip in addition to this is to get morning sun light! It helps calibrate your 'Sleep Clock'. Evening Sunlight has some benefits too.
great video but the "overhead" light is the one you should get rid off because it simulates the sun. better get a low lux lamp at a corner down below at it looks similar to a fireplace. all the best
Sleeping is important regardless of whether you're an entreprenuer or not... good tips for all.
You probably have nasal valve collapse Alex. To correct this you should look into widening the upper palate/roof of the mouth to allow more air through the nasal passage. Also rotating the jaws upwards and fowards allows for the airway space to grow bigger where the lower jaw and throat meet. Look into Mike and John Mew.
