I was homeless in Dublin for 3 months before moving home to England where I was told there was no help for me as a homeless man because I wasn't from a minority. It took me 6 years to get on a tenancy. If I was an immigrant I would have been given shelter and help immediately.

I lived in Dublin for a year in the 90's and there was a beautiful authenticity to the place and little fear of walking anywhere, 25 years on and the place is unrecognisable... but still full of decent souls...

Ireland is fantastic. Went their as a kid to Kerry area. Amazing place, brilliant people. Also went there as a young adult and still the same beautiful country. Been to Dublin several time as a kid, young man and about 10 years ago. However in recent times it’s changed, especially Dublin. And not for the better.
That guy recently came into Ireland. Where he pitched his tent is only there because the government haven’t any more room and they are close to government offices now. That guy is clean cut, he looks fit. He looks healthy and not struggling. You could have gave it to a native Irish but it’s very likely they would be caught in the drug/alcohol cycle.

20 years ago there were no tents/wet sleeping bags here. I watched the normalisation of it happen in real time. The young people here think it has always been that way but it has not. Apparently their parents, who know the truth, remain silent. Dublin imported this Americanism very recently. When the city was poor people had roofs over their heads. I hate what Dublin, and every Irish city and town, has become.
I was in Dublin last week and the Irish cab drivers are the best. So warm and friendly. I think the Irish have huge hearts and are one of the best. I saw a lot of homeless on the streets and did see quite alot of police in cars and patrolling. Only thing with Dublin is it’s so expensive
Has anyone on here ever lived in a tent with no toilet, shower etc? That beard is very perfectly trimmed and so is his hair. He also doesn’t have a tired look. He looks very clean too. No one looks like that if they are genuinely sleeping outside for a long time. He will have access to food, bed, shower etc.
We need more of a police presence in our communities. They only turn up after the crimes have been committed (if they turn up at all). This was not what the police were designed to do; they were designed to patrol the streets to prevent and deter crime and antisocial behaviour.

If even illegal migrants (coming to the border, ripping up documents and claiming asylum) are given housing in DP and allowances, then the ones living on the street are either A: smuggled in by even more illegal, underground means without NGO connections, or B: is a scammer pretending to be homeless. This video says a lot about the way we handle kindness. Most are not accepting of it and the donations received In return for doing a good deed is a reflection of that extended kindness goes a long way then those who otherwise don't help or choose not to. It's really interesting to see these videos. An Iranian friend of mine in the past surprised me once when she nipped into Sainsbury's in London and bought some brioche. I didnt think it was for her, but what she did was give it to the man we had just walked passed. I had no idea what she was doing but its something that struck me for a long time and this video made me tearful thinking about the kindness and the way we are with each other.

As a native Dubliner and kind of an old-timer, I'm pretty disappointed at the amount of negative commenst this video has received simply because the man in question manages to keep himself clean. We all know there is an epidemic of people begging in Dublin sitting with paper cups at every store etc. And we all know most of them are young men, many of whom are simply collecting money on foot of actual homeless people. but they very often are not homeless. All of these young men with paper cups also receive €220 weekly Social Welfare payments and will have a medical card to cover their healthcare. As far I know the only migrants entitled to immediate Social Welfare are Ukrainians, who are also entitled to free, or next to free, housing. These benefits are not available to other people such a the man in this video, he is homeless but he is not putting his hand out with a paper cup, and unlike some with paper cups, not all though, he is not an obvious user of drugs or alcohol. So why the negative comments? When the maker of the video says he believes Muhammod is genuine, he is right. The man is genuine, he is not looking for money for drugs or alcohol, but he is homeless. In case people don't know, cleanliness is a principle of muslim culture, and Muhammod comes from that culture. It's not impossibe to see how, if you are determined, you could use public facilities to stay clean. It's not easy I'm sure but the man deserves credit for maintaining his dignity in that way. He doesn't deserve to be condemned and treated with suspicion as some of the comments have done. Lastly I would say regarding the video, yes the people of Dubling have ingrained decency and a generous spirit, but there's just one thing; the people we are referring to are working class Dubliners. I have to say if you were to go one of the middle class or upper class areas or shopping centres in Dublin you would not be received with the same generosity and humanity. And I don't think anybody will disagree with that.

I was in Dublin last week and the Irish cab drivers are the best. So warm and friendly. I think the Irish have huge hearts and are one of the best. I saw a lot of homeless on the streets and did see quite alot of police in cars and patrolling. Only thing with Dublin is it’s so expensive

Has anyone on here ever lived in a tent with no toilet, shower etc? That beard is very perfectly trimmed and so is his hair. He also doesn’t have a tired look. He looks very clean too. No one looks like that if they are genuinely sleeping outside for a long time. He will have access to food, bed, shower etc.
We need more of a police presence in our communities. They only turn up after the crimes have been committed (if they turn up at all). This was not what the police were designed to do; they were designed to patrol the streets to prevent and deter crime and antisocial behaviour.

This video says a lot about the way we handle kindness. Most are not accepting of it and the donations received In return for doing a good deed is a reflection of that extended kindness goes a long way then those who otherwise don't help or choose not to. It's really interesting to see these videos. An Iranian friend of mine in the past surprised me once when she nipped into Sainsbury's in London and bought some brioche. I didnt think it was for her, but what she did was give it to the man we had just walked passed. I had no idea what she was doing but its something that struck me for a long time and this video made me tearful thinking about the kindness and the way we are with each other.

As a native Dubliner and kind of an old-timer, I'm pretty disappointed at the amount of negative commenst this video has received simply because the man in question manages to keep himself clean. We all know there is an epidemic of people begging in Dublin sitting with paper cups at every store etc. And we all know most of them are young men, many of whom are simply collecting money on foot of actual homeless people. but they very often are not homeless. All of these young men with paper cups also receive €220 weekly Social Welfare payments and will have a medical card to cover their healthcare. As far I know the only migrants entitled to immediate Social Welfare are Ukrainians, who are also entitled to free, or next to free, housing. These benefits are not available to other people such a the man in this video, he is homeless but he is not putting his hand out with a paper cup, and unlike some with paper cups, not all though, he is not an obvious user of drugs or alcohol. So why the negative comments? When the maker of the video says he believes Muhammod is genuine, he is right. The man is genuine, he is not looking for money for drugs or alcohol, but he is homeless. In case people don't know, cleanliness is a principle of muslim culture, and Muhammod comes from that culture. It's not impossibe to see how, if you are determined, you could use public facilities to stay clean. It's not easy I'm sure but the man deserves credit for maintaining his dignity in that way. He doesn't deserve to be condemned and treated with suspicion as some of the comments have done. Lastly I would say regarding the video, yes the people of Dubling have ingrained decency and a generous spirit, but there's just one thing; the people we are referring to are working class Dubliners. I have to say if you were to go one of the middle class or upper class areas or shopping centres in Dublin you would not be received with the same generosity and humanity. And I don't think anybody will disagree with that.

The video starts out in the liberties along Meath street , Thomas street were there is loads of homeless people begging, then on to Henry street / Moore street again there would be lots of homeless people around all up o Connell street / Talbot street / westmoreland street yet wendall goes to the most affluent post code in the country which is Dublin 2 to give the goods he received to an immigrant scammer lol

homeless people living here in Ireland earn up to 300 euro a day begging on the streets I know a guy who lives around my area that told me that and he spends every penny of it on drugs but fair play to you mate for helping out edit just watched the end of the video and I'm in total shock taking care of a well groomed man lol well done maybe you should go home and take care of your own lol
