An Idea, after your price point competition is completed, do a blind tasting of the winners from each price group. Enjoy reviews!!!
Didn't they mention doing that in one of the other videos?
Agree
Yes
Agree
I think that is the plan
I had to laugh when Trent said, " I have to be honest this is my first pour of the day....I think "🤣
At the 9:17 mark you have 1920 as the bourbon listed for D instead of the correct 1910. So 1920 is accidentally listed twice in the video in the description.
Yea, there needs to be a corrections on this issue. Hard to believe 1920 was at the bottom
it's obvious it's 1910 because of the darker color
Lol, I had paused the video to pour 1920 to be in sync and then thought I messed up!!!
I wondered if anyone else cought that, two 1920's.
I was think the same thing, I thought I read it wrong.
The Bourbon Junkies go through forward (A to E) and then back through (E to A) to balance out order and a particular one coming on strong or soft and I feel like that small tweak could help with these hard ones. Loving this series!
I swear, the bourbon junkies always start their videos half inebriated! Watch those guys frequently too
They drink out of the bottles 😮 silly kids
They drink out of the bottles 😮 silly kids
My favorite part of these competitions is Kurt's slow descent into being buzzed...
Lol❤
1000%
Never apologize for Rare Breed winning. Everyone knows how fantastic of a bottle it is! I'm lucky enough to be able to pick up those Old Forester bottles for $48 each in my area. The 1792 Full Proof store picks have been a favorite of mine as of late
Personally, I've always preferred 1910 to 1920 so seeing that play out is reassuring!
I’ve never been that impressed with 1920. Always liked the 1910 more because I get more notes out of both the nose and palate. I’m typically a 90-100 proofer though. I haven’t tried anything else on this blind so looks like Rare Breed is next on the shopping list!
I think old Forester 1910 is better, too. 1920 has good flavor but hammers your palate with heat.
@@mec532 Tamping that heat down and drawing out more notes is always possible with adding drops of water, even though it seems impure to some. But yes, it's part of the deal, they're different pours for different times.
I've always preferred the 1910 over the 1920 also
For the first time in a long time I actually have everything on your bar top. Those are all good in my book. Love your content guys. Keep up the great work. You are by far my favorite bourbon/spirits channel.
🤣 25:10 “You are excommunicated from the channel!” Had me rolling
Love your blind tastings and the surprises that come out of them! Great series guys!
An excellent lineup and great chemistry between you two as usual. I'm all in on the Rare Breed. Keep up the great work.
“Band-aidy” is the latest Trenton colorful description. I am now looking for these in every upload. Cheers!
Too cool! Definitely helps me with some shopping around for some of my own trials! I’m sure I have had all of those, but a couple of them were a couple of years ago! Thanks guys!

@@cjholcomb9687 thanks! I was definitely late on Wednesday. Glad you enjoy
Perfect video. Very useful and entertaining. It's not often that you guys do five bourbons when I have them all in my cabinet and can agree that there's not a dog in this hunt. My fave among these is OF 1920.
I’ve done several blinds with rare breed and 1920. Always get them right. Two of my absolute faves. Costco recently had both at great prices. I can never find 1792 full proof and have always wanted to try it. Fun review as always.
I could not wait for this video…two of my favorite bottles of all time: WT Rare Breed and OF 1920 in this blind flight. And 1920 comes out last?? It won Bourbon Madness 2 years ago! Wow….awesome video boys! Cheers…
Great show! I can't imagine how hard it was for you guy's to pick a favorite, as they are all awesome bourbons. I would love to see you repeat this series with rye whiskey's and see how that goes, which would be really fun. A Scotch series would be interesting too but would probably be somewhat difficult, especially at the lower price points.
I have no issues with anyone of these bottles. It is always amazing to me how my bottles of these favor and taste depending on the day and time of year. These are great bottles.
Great shows guys. That's a tough price range with a lot of great choices. The only one I don't own is the 1792 FP because I can't find it anywhere. But I was happy to see WTRB and 1910 go one-two because those are two favorites. Keep up the good work.
Great video! Both the bowman’s and Clyde mays are two of my favorites! As is 1920!
You’re splitting hairs in this price category! All are excellent choices and while I too am glad to see OF 1920 and 1910 in here I am not surprised about how WTRB performed in this blind. Cheers guys and thank you for always producing great content.
Love the blind tastings. Also love how a particular bottle can do good one day and not so much the next. Shows that perception changes day to day. Also, it shows how good (and close) the top ranked bottles in a given bracket can be. Someone commented on doing a blind of winners from all brackets. It would be interesting. I doubt low price group could beat out top price group, but there may be some that place above their rank.
1920 is my favorite. I love the 1910 also ( sometimes I mix them into a 1915.. so good. And Woodford double oak is a close 3rd
Ahh... I have seen someone mention 1915... this is what they are talking about? Maybe I should try it
@@JerboFotius yes.. I make them all the time. Best of both worlds
Love the longer content, Great video!!
I am glad I have all these on hand. I might blind them this weekend to see what I come up with. Awesome vid. Thanks
Thank you Trenton. I thought I 30:18 was the only one in the world that thought 1920 tastes like a band aid. I like it, but like you both, that would have been my 5th pick also.
Great video! I've never bought or tried Rare Breed... and now I really want to try this whisky. Cheers!
I love it when I have the same bottles you guys are blinding. I do it right with ya'll. Mine ended up 5.1920 4. Rare breed 3. 1792 2. Jack barrel proof 1.1910
I have all of these except the 1792, but I'll be keeping an eye out for that one. Love all the others and that would be a very tough pick. For my money it's hard to beat Rare Breed though, it's right at $50 in my area and usually available.
I like 1910 but Rare Breed would be my pick of the two.
Can you guys do a review of the Old Elk product line? That’d be awesome
Nice, WTRB and OF 1910 are actually my favorites below $60 at this time. Have not had 1792 or the JD SBBP, will have to try soon.
He’s absolutely correct. Did a tasting of a few with my dad last night and we agreed, the 1920 is kinda bandaid-y. Loved the 1910.
For the really close blinds like these I'd like to see them revisited at a later date to see how much the results differ.
That was definitely a nice line-up. I was surprised the way it went. Thanks guys (and gal). Cheers
I find that I enjoy the JD Barrel strength better with some water. You can add quite a bit to it and still have an abundance of flavor. Love Rare Breed too.
great list for this price range. All great sippers. You mentioned a fruit cake cocktail. I did make one for last Christmas. I had to use a lot of ingredients, but it honestly tasted like a fruit cake. Great fun blind. thanks for sharing. cheers 🥃
I’m in the back seat of the car and watching this. As soon as I get home I pour some 1792 full proof. The stuff is sooooo good
I agree with band-aid comment on the 1920 aromatic. Exactly how I described it when I bought a bottle. Didn't seem to carry to the taste but could not get past it.
I love this series. It would’ve been cool if you guys would’ve added one of your pics to the Patreon list.
We agree on the Rare Breed over a big chunk of ice. Wonderful stuff. Great review as usual.
Awesome show ! Keep it up guys, love the videos !
Love me some Wild Turkey Rare Breed and especially for the price along with OF 1920.Great review guys!
Very entertaining channel guys, from a guy that works long hours and enjoys a sip after work watching you drink stuff i could never afford, lol.
Love having the regular blinds , so fun and unteresting. Also not to be corney but I love drinking whiskey with my pops so this channel is charming haha !!! I love hearing the wife/mom around just makes it feel so authentic. Good work fellas, on surface you wouldnt think a whiskey youtube would be meaningful but it is !!!!!!
7:27 I like the look Kurt gives when he tries to sneak out the identity of "C" lol
Your struggles with these 5 should prove to everyone that you don't have to spend big $$ for great bourbon! TonyB
Great show! Cheers!
Rare Breed is still $45 in my area, but I do see it at some stores for $57. So maybe it’s a winner for both $40-50 and $50-60 categories! I’ve squirreled away an extra bottle (or two) just in case the price jumps or it becomes more difficult to find in the future.
I’m with you right there; I’ve purchased more bottles of Rare Breed than any of them. I love it! When it goes on sale I stock up!
JD SBBP is among my favorites, I only get it around $65 where I'm at but Rare Breed is like a sore pecker - hard to beat! I am fortunate to get it for around $48 as well, love the content gentlemen; enjoy the weekend!
I always keep six bottle of RareBreed as back ups. Truly the best shelf accessible bourbon for the price point. I get it usually around $55 after taxes. I have two bottles of JD Sbbp but have not tried them yet; one is 130.5 and the other is 129 proof.
😂
Oh my what a way to end the week, the Trentonisms are outrageous today! I love it!
Thank you fellas!
Did an Old Forester Tour last Saturday. The tasting at the end included the Birthday release. Good stuff! 🥃 Also got to buy a President's Selection.
Great video as always. I’m hoping Barrel Vantage and Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel make it into the next video.
Really surprised that Rare Breed won after the sour tannic notes that Trent mentioned early on. Also think you may need a new bottle of 1920 if it resembles Ardbeg that much 🤣
18.41 to 18.50 after the camera telling Trent what to vote for.
@@krenarkabashi958what does that even mean?
There’s zero chance they didn’t know what each one was. They knew it was rare breed the moment they tasted it - no chance they didn’t.
Ardbeg? *laphroaig has entered the chat.*
@ryananderson4315 reminds me of the other night when my fiance helped me with a blind but didn't put stickers on the bottles. The blind was between EW BIB and early times BIB, and I remember having Evan williams neat before and thinking it was fine as a mixer but not good neat imo. She forgot what was in which glass, and whatever note I find off-putting in EW BIB hit me the instant I tasted it. She tried to tell me the one I picked was Evan williams but I knew better lol. And my palate is not really that good. It would have been more difficult if it weren't for that one note I'm not a fan of.
Great vid! Can’t wait for the next few flights!
Now you guys need to do a blind taste test of all your number ones from all price points. Overall winner!
For quite a few of us, perhaps more, never able to select more than one on these surveys. Either way entertaining video. Thanks
Best whiskey tube channel there is at this point!
Never had 1910, but if had to rank the rest from memory that would be my order!
Having the John J now. When I find it, it is usually $49.99, which is a steal, but can be hard to find which is probably why some didn't vote for it. It is fantastic.
Great choice of whiskeys. All my favorites.
Also surprised about 1920. Great video, gents! Thanks.
I need to come visit your area soon. Your prices are dreamy. I thought so lady when you talked of WDO for still under $50, and more JD SiB for under $60?! You guys have it great!
And I’ve never even seen 1792 FP on a shelf, let alone under $60.
I stand by the fact that the OF 1920 is best on a neck pour. Once that bottle gets half way down it deteriorates pretty quickly. I also noticed at the store today that Rare Breed has had a label update. There's a red barrel proof sticker at the bottom of the label now. I hope they updated the crappy cork!
Just got a bottle - and the crappy cork came apart immediately.
@@MichaelSmith-ms3jwI've never had that issue with Rare Breed, do you torque the cork 90 degrees or something?
I agree with a previous comment. I recommend a “Best of Show” blind of all the group winners at the end. Kind of like the Westminster Dog show. All the individual group winners face off for an overall “Best of Show” winner. You guys are my favorite TH-cam channel. Ps. I just feel that Trenton should reign in some of his over the top analogies. Such as the band aid. I will never be able to remove this from my memory whenever I have 1920. Overall good job guys!!!
All fantastic picks, but I agree that 1792 Full Proof is wildly underrated. I always have it on my bar, and it is easy to find store picks in my area.
And while I still like 1920, after many bottles since it came out, I have to agree with the opinion out there that it went downhill a little bit when they changed labels. Maybe my imagination, or maybe it just lost its novelty to my palate, but I don't think it is as good as it was three to four years ago.
Great show! I think 1920 would be my #1 😋👍
I've had days where the 1920 was not favorable on my pallet. It typically a go to!
2XO definitely needs to be in the 80-100. It's become one of my absolute favorites!
It’s funny that Trent mentioned the band aid taste. I got that on a bottle at the Chattanooga tasting room. Tried the same one many times since then and never gotten it again.
Howdy guys! We just did a very similar testing a top 7 Barrell proof.... and 1920 came in last there also... I love 1920 and would hope it is an off year....either that or the others are just that good..... we did 1920, Larceny, Elijah Craig Russells single barrel, 1792, Rare Breed, and Still Austin..... We had 8 testers, top 3 1- Russells SB, 2- Rare Breed 3- Elijah Craig....
I'd have mixed in woodford DO over the OF 1910, but this is definitely the sweet spot of value to quality most of the time!!
This might be the bourbon price-point sweet spot. Haven't had the 1792 Full Proof, but I'd take any of the others in a heartbeat.
Surprised 1920 went out first. Goes to show… you just never know. I think this demonstrates how the palette changes, how bottles/barrels are different, and how even each pour may hit different.
Bowman SB had my vote. Can't believe it didn't make the cut!
Those are all winners, that's for sure! Great video!
This, was a rough line-up to evaluate. I agree on any given day the rankings would be different. I also think it’s very hard to taste each “fresh”, when you have them in a line-up. I would be interested to see the same lime-up tasted several times, with the rankings averaged to control for variance.
This is such a good price range!! Like all of them but my (obviously non-blind) picks are 1910, 1792 FP, JD BP, 1920, WTRB 1st to 5th. But all are fantastic!!
I prefer the 1910 to the 1920 but it's shocking that it came in last
Another great show once again 👍
When you guys mentioned that there weren’t really any defining notes on the 1920, I feel the same way. It’s a good pour, but I don’t pick out much from it and for me it’s $75, don’t think it belongs there. $50 seems much more reasonable.
Enjoy your blinds! You guys save me a lot of money. I find my taste is similar to Kurt so I often go with his favorites.
Super fun video! Cheers 🥃
Great videos guys, love the blind taste test. One thing however, never apologize to a brand on behalf of your pallette. It knows what it likes better than you, and it doesn't discriminate against $-$$$$.😊
1910 has always been one of my favorites! It's a cherry bomb and I love it! Thank you for another GREAT video.
I actually have the top 3 on the shelf. I’ll do a mini blind this weekend.
JJ Bowman is 42-45 in my part of Texas…just bought three and love it most even though it’s below your $50 min.. otherwise the WT. Rare gets my vote followed by the 1792 FP! Thanks 🙏🤠🇺🇸🇨🇱🥃
I was surprised you didn't have Noah's Mill Bourbon in this match up. I'm just now enjoying my first bottle and I am surprised how delicious this bottle is !
Please do a review of the backbone bourbons and ryes. Including the old bone lines!
I like how Kurt says “bro” a lot. He sounds like my kids 😂. Cool kid at heart!
Love all of those - this was a Rare Breed week for me can’t beat 1920 21:10
I'm with Trenton, I also get funky notes on 1920. I thought I was alone in that.
I think if you did a blind of all the 1st place bourbons in the series and ranked then it would be interesting and fun!!
I totally think there should be a blind with two 1920s in the flight, just to mess with you. Great video, love WT RB and 1910... and 1920 and JD SB, have not had the 1792 yet.
That's a good idea because I've had bottles of 1920 that are drastically different from each other.
You knew that A was turkey from the beginning, big grin and later more big praise and grin!
1920 always tastes incredible to me, but when I do blinds it always falls behind. I completely understand 😂
LOL .. "DO we want to thank them?" I was pretty good until that remark. Thanks for the laughter.
I just noticed my recent bottle of 1920 opened up nicely after i got below the neck..
Now it has more of that cinnamon and baking spices thing going on
