I’m doing the whole suspension components, I’m a complete newbie/rookie, I took out the upper control arms without marking them, lost sleep thinking I was going to screw up during install. After watching your video I was able to id them. Thank you for sharing. I knew I had a 50% chance of getting it right though.
Hi Gabriel Lariz your welcome and your doing fine just keep up the good work. That’s how you lean most respect for you brother and thank you for watching. I really appreciate you.
this was awesome. thanks for taking the time. I have a 98 Tacoma 4x4 regular cab and basically have to do all that except for the rack and pinion. Not looking forward to it but oh well.
Hi Victor Delgado your welcome yes I’d have to say that was one of the jobs I didn’t really enjoy it fought me all the way . Hopefully yours will go smoother . Thanks for watching I appreciate you. Good luck brother
Hey buddy, great job replacing those parts. I started the same thing you're doing on the 4th of July and I have 1 more control arm to finish. The only difference is that I'm working with genuine Toyota parts with the exception of the bushings. I'm installing polyurethane bushings because that's a big job and I dont want to do it ever again. My hat off to you!!! So, as I was removing the belows from the power steering rack, fluid came out. Once I removed the inner and outer tie rods, I moved the steering wheel from one side to the other to remove the last bolt holding the last control arm I gotta work on and noticed more fluid leaking from the rack. Do I need to buy another steering rack at this point? I don't want to install all those expensive parts just to have to remove them again.
@@likits1999 Hello my brother yes you shouldn’t be leaking from your rack. It can be rebuilt if you know someone that does it or you’ll have to buy a new one but yes, your seals are bad on it. It shouldn’t be leaking. You’re doing an awesome job and thank you very much for watching. I appreciate you.
Great vid! For the lower control arm, yours didn’t have the tubes you slide in first to put the bolt through?? Mine does! And they’re rusted to crap. I’m gonna cut them out, but I didn’t see yours have them when you took them out or put them in…
Hi @JRESHOW thank you oh wow that's weird did you try soaking the tubes in wd 40 or your preference of lubricant over night ? that works for me most of the time, just saturate them in lubricant let it penetrate over night , thank you for watching i appreciate you
i did this before a few years ago on a 97, and im about to do it again on an 02, so im trying to get a refresher. It was my first time doing anything like this, but i got it done with the oreilys ball joint kit plus the 4wd adapter set. The funny thing is that i had a buddy (also inexperienced) help me on one side, but the next day he wasnt around for the other side and i had the toughest time remembering the combination we used the day before. We took a long time to figure it out together...two heads better than one. i had to rig it the same where its not even and on the wrong edge of the C clamp, but i got it done. i think this time im gonna try getting both the autozone + oreilys sets so i have more options to find what fits. On this 02 it needs both upper and lower A arms/ball joints and possibly rack and pinion, so thank you for the video. ALSO, freezing the ball joints overnight before pressing them in can help
alex r wow brother you got your work cut out for you ! You’ll get it it will all come back to you . Lol yes well said the Combination putting all those parts together. Thanks for the tip I appreciate you good luck
Hi Jeffrey Homer it was a lot easier . If I went with just the bushings I’d have to take the control arm out go to the press press them out then press the new ones in then put the arm back on . This way just take out old arm put new in. And it was just a few more dollars more not a big difference . Thanks for the comment
Hi Keith Davis the PS pump is in good shape Still running strong till this day . The rack and pinion was leaking from the seal’s Thanks for watching I appreciate you
