Hi Eduard. Thanks a lot for the video and the beautiful landscape. How does this bike feel to you on the road, honestly? Could it be an occasional commuter or is it too loud and avid for fuel? I'd like to hear your input on that. Thanks!
I've ridden a lot of bikes, both old and new .. this is probably my favourite in all honesty as it's just so much fun. That said it wouldn't make a good commuter.. the engine is too racey and it doesn't like going slow. I had an XR600R however which was a great commuter and I actually have a video of commuting to work on it from a few years ago.
You have got to fix that backfire back in the old days it was a bad exhaust gasket up at the head just bought a new 2022 Honda crf450rl when I piped it it had that backfire then I put on my new ECU that took six months to get fix the problem instantly adjusted my air-fuel mixture and tuning already tuned for that bike
You are hearing clutch slip! I thought more people would notice to be honest. The clutch didn't like the oil I was using so changed it back to old reliable Motul after getting home.
@@edwards0matic I should of asked what size you are using, sounds awesome through the revs, I just hate when mine pops like that, I have a 2004 with T4 pipe, header, cam, ported, Hi rev cdi and I run a 68s from 2,000 feet to 7,000 and a 65 above 7,000 and a 70 at sea level. I live at 9,500 Thanks for the video
Well here’s the line up - I’m on my 96 600R my brother on his 01 650R our buddy on his 08 650L . I was 270lbs bro is 300lbs buddy around 220lbs . All bikes basically stock asphalt road a few runs and every time first few gears me an my brother swapped the lead then he would fall back as the 650L with its way smaller rear sprocket and rider ,would eventually gain the lead . The R models clobbered the L on the dirt hill climbs . The 650R was purpose built for Baja it’s slightly longer from axle to axle , difference in front rake . Just wants to go straight an fast , get it in some tight technical single track she’ll start letting out steam literally and brakes will fade and just not very nimble. Be it hard to be nimble 300lb rider on 650 thumper lol.
@@ryandeboer9584 That's amazing. Saying that I thought the 650R would be way quicker against the other two on asphalt ... at least it feels way faster. And yeah they don't like going slow, I've had mine boil over when I left it to idle for like 3 minutes one time lol. The 600R would just idle all day no problem in comparison.
@@edwards0matic it’s a rider preference thing too , each one of those bikes gives a little more here and takes some from over there. I’ve heard of guys running small cooling fans on backside of the radiator, like the ones used for computer power supplies. Anyways enjoy that bike she looks an sounds sweet.

Such a sweet bike,the biggest 4 stroke I'v ever had was a 1999 yz400f and it was a torque monster. I can only imagine what these things are like!

Is that a 5 or 6 speed?
@@joshuarainey6796 all xrs are 5 speeds but you don’t need the 6. Because they got so much torque anyways so you can gear em long
@@quirinm. An XR250 is actually a 6 speed .. you're right about the rest though they're all 5 speed (I think)

I think it was mainly a mix of stricter emissions standards / the 450cc class taking over 😥

Nah it's fine - I've been right through the bike and it's running as good as it possibly can.

That popping sound when you shut off the throttle might indicate a leak in the exhaust system. Or is it intentionally?
That's just what vehicles do sometimes, especially ones with carburettors.

@@jc-pf5bt It has a 68S in it for the pilot. The jetting in it is perfect ... If it were too lean on the bottom the revs would be hanging.

Have you ever raced against a 600r with high comp piston and hotcam? I wonder if my bike could keep up with the 650
Can't say I have, but I have both bikes and the 650 is a fair bit quicker ... I don't think even a modded 600 could keep up.

Can't remember the size of the sprockets off the top of my head but it's totally stock.
What jetting are you running?
'Uncorked' jetting .. think its a 68s pilot and a 172 main.
