I'm so glad you posted this video. Where other videos show people installing used PCM's from another vehicle, this video shows that you need tools and computers that only dealers have for the most part to install a replacement computer, even if your vehicle has no keyed entry system. Unfortunately with Grand Marquis and Crown Vics, Ford dealers I've found don't want to work on computer replacements, since Ford does not offer the computers anymore, and there's to many other problems that dealers may not want to take the time to mess with. Sad that Ford has virtually NO customer service when it comes to out of warranty vehicles. One service rep at a Ford dealer recently told me "We don't usually work on anything with over 135,000 miles. Why would I buy a car from a dealer like that ???
@@lard1892 Thanks for the reply, and sadly admit you are right. Today I went to Palmetto Ford in Miami, their inventory is Ford Vans & Trucks, and a service dept. The one service rep on duty at 4:30 pm, the first thing I asked him was, do you have any mechanics who have replaced the main computer in any Ford Trucks. He said "No." Then I told him the problem I have with the Marquis, and he said "I'm sorry bro, there's nothing we can do". Now think about that, a large Ford truck dealership, and they tell you they've NEVER replaced a main computer and have no mechanics that have. Hard to believe that they haven't taken in any trades where someone had a Ford truck with a faulty PCM. What do they do, haul them to the junk yard? I got turned down for service by 2 other Ford dealers in this area. I wish we could get the word out, that Ford is not capable of fixing certain problems with their own vehicles, and we're talking FLEET vehicles like Crown VIcs and Grand Marquis.

I remember when the new emissions BS for diesels came out and every dealership said they were bulletproof and never had to work on them, yet they were getting parts in by the literal pallet loads weekly for warranty repair work all related to diesel emissions system failures.
They don't have anyone to work on warranty items especially if it's problematic my trucks still under warranty but might as well wipe your ass with that

Hey, if anyone can help or has the answer to this absolute predicament PLEASE READ: I have a 2008 3.0L ford fusion, got the car with only one key and now I've lost it. So I replace the ignition cylinder and have two new keys that work for it. Only thing is when the guy went to reprogram my keys he did a perameter reset with there being NO new PCM in the vehicle. Now the scanner reads as the car can't connect with the PCM. Looked into it, turns out perameter reset should only be done if necessary. So my question is this, basically how do I "undo" that perameter reset? Or even, what do I do now?
I have an 04 f150 5.4 truck that someone put an 05 4.6 in, also a used pcm that they apparently programmed the keys to. My problem is that the computer is looking for vct's that this engine doesn't have and the symptoms are like they are stuck. Can this be reprogrammed to delete vct's?

So if your old one needs to be replaced how can it give the new one the right settings if it itself is no longer any good. That makes absolutely no sense at all.
It can't! FORD has made it like that by design. The design ensures that FORD can milk its customers. You will have to pay the Dealer to flash your new PCM. You have no right to repair your possession by design.
First question is, which dealership can or will replace a PCM, and there are many variables I have found. How old is the vehicle? Is the computer available through the manufacturer? Will the dealer refuse to replace it? I've found several dealers who have excuses as to why they wont. like 1. the car has too many miles 2. The manufacturer no longer carries the computer
I have a Fiesta ST 2013 european model. The fiesta ST 2014 american model has a different ECU, it is MAP tuned instead of MAF, and i think its both hardware and software different. The cars should be very similar except for different ecu. You think its possible to make an american ECU work on my car? Im looking at the ford module installation with IDS. If i replaced the ECU and programmed it using my European VIN Number, could this work, would it install the correct software, or would i need to use an american VIN to make this work. Will it install software by looking at the modules hardware ID. As I understand there are several modules that also stores the VIN number.

It can be a very devestating, overly bothersome ordeal when it comes to programming/reprogramming a vehicle's Systems, especially if you know absolutely nothing about it.Three weeks ago,I accidentally connected the wrong jumper cable to the opposite post of my 2005 Ford Explorer and the result was: A very untimely No crank No start situation.For several days I watched countless videos on how to properly troubleshoot the issues but these at-home tests were relatively basic and did little more than determine what electrical components were and weren't receiving power,such as the starter,the fuel pump,and ignition switch.The PCM lost its memory;ABS lost its memory; Anti-theft system lost its memory and the key was not being recognized by the transponder(the circular part located exactly where the key is inserted),and so it all had to be reprogrammed and synced to one another.A second key was necessary and had to be made before it could all be done..My Explorer was taken to the Raceway Automotive Ford Service Center on Thursday past and "should" be ready on Monday... hopefully.Thus far,my total tab is $210.

Ford is such a ripoff. Have to have a subscription. People wouldn’t need to reprogram anything if they made things right the first time Can you imagine buying a computer and then dell making people pay a monthly subscription fee to install software updates? Give me a break

You can download Microsoft upgrades FREE on their own website and received weekly updates frequently at no cost to you. Most Computers don't NEED to be re-programmed unless you've run into problem with the operating system or want to tweak a specific setting, your average casual user will never need to re-program their system. Where as with the PCM, you will at one point NEED to re-program your PCM and you're FORCED to pay a subscription fee from the manufacturer of your vehicle (i.e Ford Motor Company). One give you the software updates for free and provides you unlimited access to them and one charges for access that you're forced to buy. There is a big difference.

I might need to try this wot h my 7.3. my bully dog knob rattled loose on the PCM connection and shut the engine off and it will not start back up. no fuses blown or anything. scanner won't connect with PCM through OBD port so I'm guessing the PCM is fucked.

Its a ford worst vehicle I've ever owned had engine apart and 25 other things think it needs pcm internal voltage is way off
*For anyone who has yet to look into this issue.* That Programmer kit is around $1800 or more depending on what you need it for.
How do I tell what information to put in from fords sheet it doesn’t tell me any of these data points from that build sheet

I've ECU programmed my Ford Ranger 3.2 and it went from 200 to 270 horsepower and it even had the fuel consumption reduced I'm very impressed

OBD1 and OBD2 Technology is different. The PCM's Hardware and Software are incompatible.
OBD2 is all Cars Manufactured 1996 onward .

The immobilizer needs to be programmed to your new PCM. Otherwise- your Car won't start. You need a licensed locksmith to do this or the Dealer.
If I buy a pcm programmed with my vinn and 2 keys programmed for it am I good to go if I even it has pats

You have to have a Microsoft Office 365 subscription in order to use a Microsoft PC for business. You also have to reprogram most computers.
