Welcome to another exciting new deck tech on this channel where I show you how to build the amazing new Sauron, The Dark Lord from The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle Earth into a Nazgul amassing monstrosity!

Love this idea! Much cooler and more thematic than all the aristocrats builds I see floating around that just wanna constantly sac the army for value.

I don't think the aristocrat strategy is even efficient for him... I keep seeing people throwing phyrexian altar in those decks... why... you have to be using it on opponents turns and you're going to be getting it in spurts of one and 2 maybe 3 mana...
Yeah I agree it's just not as thematic or as fun as big wraiths go brrr

After seeing Lord of the Nazgul rocket to the top of the most popular and new kill-on-sight commanders, Sauron was my exact pivot. Was planning to build this tomorrow, but I'll definitely be taking some suggestions from this! 👌🏻

Yeah crazy how fast it became the most popular. I got two at the prerelease and the other seven for around 3 bucks a piece. Pretty happy with that! Congrats on picking yours up too!
@@commandpower1987where I live there aren't any English copies anywhere! I've actually now gone through 3 builds: 2x mono-B (Witch King, Sauron Necromancer), Golgari (Smeagol) and this Grixis one... Can't decide which one to go for 😅

@@commandpower1987 not yet! I'm in a bit of a maelstrom of deckbuikding at the moment where I have too many ideas competing... I think I need to back off the brewing and content for a few days and just stare at cardboard (and touch grass) 😂

i built mine fairly similar... i ran a small suite of goblins for flavor and utility (krenko and krenko, treasure nabber, dockside extortionist, and impulsive pilferer) with maskwood nexus so that if i happen to hit a nazgul trigger with that out... everything is getting bigger... and goblin welder so i can flip out mana rocks for key pieces like maskwood or bolas' citadel if they get milled or removed... plus welder can reset or at least get rid of the one ring if the burden gets too heavy... i ran that sac an artifact black card to draw spell just as draw slot just for getting rid of one ring as well. win cons are chandra's ignition, insurrection, breach the multiverse type cards which should be easy to find with sauron and easy to cast with the amount of ramp i am running (15 rocks... all the 2 drops pretty much and inherited envelope and cammanders sphere... plus the aforementioned goblins)
i also ran commit/memory as a removal option and way to keep myself from milling... one day i may buy a kozilek and call it "morgoth" to keep myself from milling myself
I like the idea of making the goblins into wraiths! That's a cool way of getting a wide board and pumping it till it's huge! Also the morgoth thing cracked me up🤣
Looking at building a deck with Sauron the Dark Lord, so this gives me a few ideas. May include Maskwood Nexus to make everything Wraiths and Armies to get extra benefit from Sauron/Saruman/Nazgul triggers though
Yeah I think Maskwood Nexus is a dflefinite include that I overlooked.

you should add maskwood nexus to make all your nazgul count as armies to trigger tempts and +1 counters on damage, or just stack all 1/1 counters on sauron since he would count as an army as well
Yeah I've actually added it since, feels amazing to buff your entire team from a nazgul trigger!

Herald of the secret streams makes all the wraiths and army unblockable. Also dragon throne of tarkir on the army got me a big W. My whole board got +20+20 and trample. Good cheap tech.
Both good suggestions tbh, particularly since the deck sometimes has trouble pushing through!

Played a game with a similar deck last night, against a scarab god, arcades and eowyn. Need to include more of those blue duplicate cards, almost got there, I took out two players but couldn't win. 21/21 army at the end. Everyone at the table realized how gross the deck could get as soon as the first nazgul etb. Need to be able to push the wraith thing harder. Thanks for the deck comparison. Don't forget your removal tho
Ooh nice, yeah it gets out of hand super quick with multiple Nazgul! I think more removal or ways to push through damage will definitely be needed going forward!
Definitely needs some tweaking, Needs more blue duplicate spells. I’m thinking if adding Kiki mirror breaker, helm of the host.
As the ring tempts you do each effect activate and added to the last one. Until every temptation step are active and effect all together at the same time?

New to magic and got hosts of mordor now after a month im turning it into this. I wanted 9 nazgul and suaron and this is what im looking for, not of fan of sacing orcs so this deck is just what I wanted

@@commandpower1987 I decided to put buried alive to put anger, wonder, and ringwraiths the the grave. probably not the best idea or anything but its fun lol.

@@commandpower1987 ya this is my first deck built and as a big LOTR fan i wanted to have sauron and the 9 together. It helps that people at my LGS said this deck can get pretty strong if tuned right and idk much about power level but i feel they are pubstomping me at the LGS 🤣. My very first game ever was me and my raiders of Rohan precon and the other 3 pulled out arcades defender decks. Needless to point out but, it wasn't fun🤣
Wow. Well Arcades is super strong, that really doesn't sound like a fun table! This deck is definitely strong in a "fair" meta but if your meta is doing mostly broken things it can struggle

Entirely different deck styles. Lord of Nazgul tends to be much more of a low to the ground control deck!

I am working on converting my 2nd copy of the precon into this version of sauron in the command zone.
I am going to focus a lot on reanimation.
Yeah I think reanimation is an excellent choice for him. Dread Return and From the Catacombs would be some excellent choices!

Dreadhorde invasion 1B enchantment amass 1 during your upkeep and your army will get lifelink if its power is 6 or greater.
lazotep chancellor when you discard a card pay 1 to amass 2
Angrath captain of chaos -2 to amass 2
Dreadhorde unfortunately only gives lifelink to zombies, so it's a bit of a nonbo. Lazotep chancellor and chancellor would be decent inclusions, but in the end I didn't include them cause it felt weird flavor wise!
@commandpower1987 changes to Amass mean Dreadhorde now has 'amass zombies' which will add the zombie type to your army when it adds the counter.
Oh I missed that rules update. In that case yeah it's an auto include!
