As someone who grew up in Bacolod, this presentation of my hometown’s culinary profile impressed me so so much. Most vlogs and features about Bacolod doesn’t really touch the real experience until this. Can’t wait for more of this!!!
you absolutely went to the right places for these foods. Super Batchoy is the best. Sharyns is very kown for their delicous cansi and also Erons . sandok is good but every carinderia in negros cooks good KBL. great Job
Hi Erwan. Bacolod's dialect is called Hiligaynon.. Ang Ilonggo kasi dialect yan sa Iloilo.. ☺️ It's so nice na bumisita ka talaga dito sa Bacolod just to try our food. That makes us so proud. Thank you so much!
Hiligaynon is also known as Ilonggo. It 3:50 's NOT a dialect but a language. The kind of Hiligaynon/Ilonggo spoken in Bacolod, with it's accent and idiosyncracies is a dialect. Same with the kind of Hiligaynon/Ilonggo spoken within Iloilo City and nearby towns. And whether you like it or not, most people of Negros Occidental are descendants of Ilonggo migrants from Iloilo... Like many people of South Cotobato.
The best presentaton of Bacolod's soups so far! 😍 Sharyn's Cansi house is indeed the best, they already exist even before I was born. Haha. Hope u can feature Negros' famous desserts/merienda next time like: napoliones, piaya, Felicia's Ensaymada, Calea's cakes, manapla puto and much more! Haha
Kadios!! Tagal ko na di naka try neto. Last time I’ve tried it, it was my papa who cooked. This one if my fave videos mo kuya. 👍👍👍
Erwan featuring well loved dishes from my hometown made me smile. I appreciate him featuring these dishes in his vlog as well as taking the time to give his viewers information about the ingredients and how the food is prepared, etc. I moved to Manila two years ago and the first time I tried the meat dish called PARES, I was like "ULLLK people think this is delish?" No offense PARES lovers out there! :) Yon talaga moment nasabi ko, CANSI not PARES. Haha! I heard Erwan grew up in the Philippines, I wish if he says a local word, in this video for example "batwan/batuan, Bacolod" or any local word in his future uploads sa vlog nya, sana he'd say it the way the locals say it because I believe marunong naman siya kasi diba laking Pilipinas naman siya. Medyo off-putting lang minsan pakinggan kaya nagwe-wane yung enegy ko manood kasi honestly nagcicringe ako. Yon lang po. Let's bigkas the local words how they are meant na bigkasin.
Yaaaas!! Batuan is sooo good!! I even like it more than sampaloc tbh. They’re sour and really good! Try using some batuan and make fish sinigang with it ✨
KBL is a staple for my family on the weekends. A dark rich semi-thick beany soup. Sourness by unripe langka and batuan. Tender pork leg and knuckles make the soup even richer. A dish that still reminds me of my mother's cooking since she was gone 2 decades ago.
First class video. Many thank man for your effort and skillful presentation ! i will ask you one difficult question.... what are your top 3 cities/places to live in the Philippines ?
U just featured 3 of my most favorite dish back home bacolod.. this makes me so eager to go back.. visit again next month for masskara festival u can make a nice feature for your blog.. its like inasal everywhere around the plaza . More like a mardrigrah festival of philippines.. MASSKARA 😎 2019 ... HOPE U CAN MAKE IT.
This is the best way to introducing Bacolod!! Hope everyone could watch it and go here in Bacolod this coming October for maskarra festival. Madamo guid Na Salamat!
I'm so happy you get to taste Ilonggos' favorite sabaw dishes. Batwan makes everything in a soup so much better. Now I'm craving for Batchoy, KBL and Cansi. 😋😁
Thank you I am making a list of all the foods I am going to eat when i visit the philippine in a few month. Can't wait to try. This Cansi is on my top list to eat. Thanks
The KBL is one of the food specialties of the Ilonggos... Everytime i will go home for vacation in the Philippines, I always asked my father to cook me KBL.... I might also suggest you should try the "Nilagpang na Manok" dish...
Cansi, inasal, and kbl are my comfort food whenever I return to Negros Occ, plus napoleones for dessert. The first time I tried bulalo in Luzon, I thought they tasted bland considering I was used to eating cansi and kbl. Thanks for this video.
Man! Thanks so much for visiting my home town! That place has so much to offer. The food you featured brought a lot of my childhood memories. Appreciate it so much! A peace!
Featuring all of my favorite foods , foods that i grew up with 😭😭😭😭 makes me want to go home right now 😭😭😭😭 Anyways, amazing blog 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks for featuring my hometown
Bacolod's Kansi is the Best! Proud Bacolodnon here! And KBL(Kadyos Baboy Langka) is my favorite! I miss home Super Batchoy House used to be our Tambayan ugh Im craving! and Im hearing people talking in our native Tounge love it.
hi erwan just like to point out, we don't speak ilonggo, and we are not ilonggo's, the dialect we speak mostly in region 6 is called hiligaynon, and ilonggo's are from iloilo :) you can say either we are bacolodnon or negrenses, love your vids and thanks for featuring our homegrown cuisines
First off, hiligaynon is a language. And there's enough cultural overlap with iloilo that it's somewhat acceptable to be called ilonggos as a bacolodnon. So get off your high horse.
lol i'm just sharing factual information, and you nasty son of a bitch coming at me like i'm some prick, acceptable by you mean stereotypical, and hiligaynon is a dialect, get your facts straight you fucking piece of shit
Yudiputa palagpat ka lang paano na nag dialect nga indi ka gani ka maan sa gna pang hambal namon. Mango mango sa imo. We have different syntaxes and different subject verb agreements from tagalog. If it was a dialect. It would be the bacolod dialect stemming from the hiligaynon language. Roxas, iloilo, sibuyan island etc have their own dialects. It's you who need to get your facts straight, sir.
Omg. I just had traditional KBL earlier made by my wonderful Ilongga mom. It was so0000oooo darn good. I know I'm home whenever I eat it. 27 years of existence and it is still the same taste, my mom is the best. Lol
That's my favorite! OMG! We call it also Kadyos/Cadyos because my father always cooks that for us when we are visiting his province in Iloilo City. Yummy!
After watching I feel hungry 🤤 I want to go there soon to taste it.. Kuya Erwan I really enjoy watching your vlogs I learn more recipes from you.. thanks for sharing your videos to us. Godbless you always
Mr.Erwan hi i love your videos so educational and truly nakakagutom Fan ako for a long time na Suggestion lang ang dark ata ng filter for this vid or the saturation is kinda bit low w/c makes the food less more appealing Just an option
Hahaha so true! But then you realise you're on camera and it's going up on TH-cam! Happened to us so many times when we were filming us trying food in Japan
We all know about the notif squad. But where are the like squad at? 💁🏻👊🏻✋🏻 Also, what a bummer you weren't able to taste Batchoy in Iloilo tho. Maybe in the future?
Kalami. Ganahan ko sa imong mga vlog labi na kung mangadto ka sa laing lugar diri sa atong nasod kay imo mapakita kung unsa ka nindot ang Pilipinas labi na sa mga pagkaon. You always have an amazing content.
KBL, Batchoy, Cansi all in one video... you make me hungry and want to go home now. I hope there's also pigeon peas in the market here in canada. I really miss Filipino foods.
As you mentioned that we are the "sugarlandia" of the Philippines, I can't wait to see you try our pastries, cakes and local desserts. God bless your channel and Thank you for featuring our humble place. #BACOLOD
I'm so proud! You presented not just Bacolod's but the negrense's dishes very well. I remeber when I was working in manila, I cooked Cansi and brought it to the office, shared it with officemates. It taste weird daw because it looks like bulalo but it taste sour. 😂 But they like it. 😊 Thank you for this, Erwan! Btw, nex t time youbare in bacolod, try Eron's cansi, they are the best!
Try Patpat's in Iloilo. It has the best Bone Marrow soup I've personally tried in the whole country. Its near Jaro plaza. Awesome video! Missing Bacolod.

T'was my first time seeing this vlog and I am so proud seeing famous people feature our hometown. Proud Bacolodnon here🔥
This takes me back. I remember my mom used to cook this often and I'd mix the bone marrow and soup with the rice and it'd taste so good.
