Thank you for this well deserved feature of Ilonggo cuisine, FEATR! Deserved because Iloilo City is now the Philippines’ official nominee for UNESCO’s Creative City for Gastronomy!
I’m from Negros and I must say that FEATR did a great job in showcasing Iloilo dishes. This is the kind of vlog that we like. Feels authentic and nostalgic especially these foods are so similar with our dishes here. Kudos to Erwan who ate for hours and hours! Kudos to your team for coming up with this feature.
Try grilling mushrooms in "labog" wrapped with banana leaves. Pair that with "malidu" rice and "pinakas" dipped in "sinamak"; then eat "kinamot-style". Super duper!
Never seen anyone showcased Iloilo in this light. I’m from Iloilo born and raised but watching this video makes me feel Im foreign. 😅 Thanks FEART worth watching and subscribing too 🫡💜🫶
Never thought the day would come for our food to be showcased authentically in a well known channel. As an ilongga, I really appreciate all that you do to include our city. Thank u for always sharing the Philippines in your channel
Ilonggos aim to achieve umami taste. We don't cook food sweet, sour or bitter but we mix them. It takes time to master mixing those tastes to achieve the flavor we desire
I lived in iloilo when i was 7-10yrs old. I still remember dishes like ginataang langka with pork, soup with batuan and batchoy. Moved to Mindanao & Luzon but never had those ever since. Wish to go back someday.
My Lolo is half spanish and this is his hometown. I never got the chance to visit this place but I hope I could visit iloilo after I graduate. I want to visit some of these restaurants.
That is true Ilonggo hospitality. We never take no for an answer when it comes to feeding our guests! That's how we show appreciation and ❤. We keep saying kaon ta ( let's eat, kaon na (come and eat), or always ask you ka kaon ka na ( have you eaten yet?)? So when this happens, just have a small bite of everything, or we will be sad if you refuse. 😂
Dried fish goods are a staple in my baon list everytime I visit my relatives in Manila, alongside packets of known Ilonggo sweets, i.e. piyaya, biscocho, galletas, etc.
Hi Erwan. I'm from Santa Barbara and my wife is from Cavite but we both live abroad. Last month I brought her together with her family to Iloilo and they enjoyed the food so much. Thanks for raising awareness about Ilonggo cuisine and I hope you loved your stay there.
I like when you said "there's a lambing touch in the food" which is really true. ROBERTOS SIOPAO, ALICIA'S BATCHOY are a must try. If there is next time try to visit the old churches of iloilo. I am so proud that you featured Iloilo. I am proud to be ilonggo.
I'M SO HAPPY LOLA NORA'S EATERY WAS FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO! I used to go to University of Iloilo and Nora's was just across the street from my school, we are a half day class only and after class before going to the gym, I always eat at Nora's to get that homemade taste and feel at home kind of vibe especially from the Lola's serving the place. This video definitely took me down memory lane, thanks to Erwan and the staff for featuring our beloved city of love.

It's almost a 30-minute video but it felt like it is just 5 minutes. This is just spectacular. I love that you featured other cuisines and not just batchoy which I always see from vloggers coming to Iloilo. It's a great way to showcase that Ilonggo dishes are at par or even beyond some of the dishes from other parts of the country. Thank you for this Erwan.
Thank you Erwan for visiting this part of the country. Now you know Iloilo and Western Visayas as a whole *WILL* give Pampanga a serious run for its money as a culinary destination annnnd well of course anyone can do a beach side trip on any of the provinces as an added bonus . 😉😉 And *kudos* to Chef Tibong for such a perfect culinary guide and patiently explaining on this episode whats being served on the table. Hello Erwin been watching forever, How can I purchase Chef Rafael Tibong Jardeleza Jr. cook book 📚. I live in the USA and it’s difficult to purchase a treasured taste.
I was smiling the whole time watching the video. I'm born and raised in Aklan, but having this video makes me miss more the Panay Island! Indeed Iloilo is calling! Thanks Featr!
living here now in Manila, food back home in Iloilo is really just different. especially yung mga sabaw na main dishes is cooked differently. my fave for sure is the nilaga, our own version of puchero, KBL, tinola, our home’s staple pinamalhan, and the seafood of course, it could be just crabs and dried fish for days back in my hometown. so happy that you visited local eateries and not just get some batchoy and stuff 😅 but overall such a great docu. “kagwapo gid ya bala sang bana ni Anne” hahaha
the food haven capital of the philippines like no other Im proud of my City❤❤❤ a City that rich in history and herritage where the famous. Ilonggos always stands out in many things
Aroz de valenciana or just valenciana like we call it are staple in parties from birthdays to fiesta celebrations. And not just in the cities but in the smaller baranggays of different towns in the province. It’s a food that brings back a lot of memories too. Together with the molo soup which is my lola’s specialty. I miss my hometown even more after watching this. 🥺
We grew up with homecooked food, even in our carinderias. We always look for home-cooked meals. Laswa and sinugba whenever I go back home. They say Ilonggos are among those who are the hardest to please when it comes to food because we grew up with one of our parents who cooks, with the recipes passed on for generations.
I love Ilonggo food, anywhere you go the food is delicious and it's not expensive either. I wanna go back, with a side trip to Guimaras and the wonderful mangoes ❤
Living in Iloilo for 4 years throughout college has taught me that the best food in Iloilo can be found in the carenderias, some of which have been present for decades. You can go to place that serves La Paz batchoy since the 50's to a carenderia that specialized in fried chicken since the 40's all in the same area. What I miss most is eating bingka in Molo Plaza while peoplewatching.
..cant wait to visit my family in iloilo, grabe yung pag lalaway ko sobra! I make sure bibisitahin ko yang mga place na yan!! You are such amazing food lover blogger, clever host, chef etc!!!
I miss Iloilo. 😢 It’s true that Ilonggo food is not too salty/sweet, the taste comes in between. FEATR should try buko pie at Nang Palang’s at Trapiche, Oton. Also, kansihan carenderia/stalls are everywhere in Iloilo, so pls try pata and patotin. Don’t forget KBL (kadyos, baboy, langka) as well very traditional! ❤
Awesome to watched that #ilonggo cuisines are being appreciated by one of the best chef and food critic in the country today. Thanks a bunch #Erwan for featuring us on your channel. So raw and this humbles us.
Im a bacolod ilonggo and i experienced iloilo last year. Mgnda ang iloilo. Nakakaproud as an ilonggo. Both our cities are beautiful and has many foods to choose from.
Why do we negrense call ourselves ilonggos when we weren't raised and do not live in Iloilo? If our ninuno came from Iloilo, isn't it na they're the ones who are ilonggos lang? Pero kita who were born and raised in Negros, I don't think we're ilonggos. They have a different manner of speaking and way of life than those who were born and raised in Bacolod or Negros.
I am proud ilongga ❤back home 🏠 for good after work for how many years outside the country and i spoiled myself and my hubby eating real fresh seafoods, lovin” it all recipes and menu they serve and less expensive cost of living affordable. Happy to be back home in ILoilo city of Love ❤️
Iloilo has many great families, their cooking skills are better than those you can eat in public places. I highly recommend their sisig, Batchoy, Dinuguan, tinolang bangus and humba🤤👌
I miss Iloilo. Currently living in 🇨🇦. Whenever I meet folks from other provinces here in Canada, they always ask, “oh what is your city known for?” and I always tell them, just come and visit and I will give you a gastronomic tour. Next time I’ll add that they need to come visit in stretchy pants! 😂

Thank you erwan!! You finally featured food of Iloilo City. I am so happy that you went to Nora’s eatery. It is our family’s favorite eatery if we go to the city from our hometown, Passi City. I felt bad that you did not taste adobado alimosan which is my favorite. But I am glad you had sinabawan fish head , inihaw na baboy, the ensaladang puso ng saging and the radish and ampalaya salad. The eatery is really the place that people from all walks of life would eat before Tatoy’s came in the picture. Now you know our family’s secret. 😂😂 You need to try Sobriedo’s batchoy (batchoy ni jasmine) in sta. Barbar, seafood at Tytche and in Bebot and Mila’s. In the coastal. Siopao in kongkee and their crispy bihon. Also please explore the foods of the province of Iloilo, to our hometowns. We also have our distinct foods that we can call our own. Enjoy!! ❤❤

Kudos to Chef Tibong for bringing you to the places that represents what Ilonggo homemade cooking truly is. Makes me missed Authentic Ilonggo food and my hometown.
my father is an ilonggo. my mom is a great cook but i love how his version of adobo is made (more on sweetness than savory). and yes! they're malambing. they get mad but they still sound sweet 🤣
I brought my manila friends in a restaurant here in Iloilo and they love all the dishes, they said ilonggo food are so good and much cheaper than the food in Manila. And they definitely want to comeback again because of our food here ♥️
Yes I only saw these all in erwans vlog. My husband is an ilonggo but I never been here yet. I want to come here in this amazing food trip places. I love it.

Thank you for featuring iloilo city esp our ilonggo cuisine. Thank u for appreciating the ilonggo way of cooking. Ilonggo just used simple ingredients that will enhance our meat, fish, chicken n seafoods but that is the best for us. The simpler the better🙂❤️
You’re definitely right Erwan, food in Iloilo is so varied in flavors, and their chicken is undeniably one of the best. Nothing fancy only the basic condiments is enough to satisfy your palate. Thank you for sharing these gastronomic adventure, feel like going back to Iloilo again… Unforgettable Mae
This is made me proud that I am an ilonggo. Miss my hometown very much. Thank you sir erwan to feature our city of love #iloilo God bless you and your wonderful family keep safe always❤❤❤
Iloilo is my dad’s family home. They moved to Roxas along the Loctugan river as a teen then on to Nuevo Viscaya in Luzon to the family farm. I’ve visited the PI several times but have yet to visit those locations. Some day.
Better done than what Bourdain did. WHY no subtitles at the long interview at Beige?! I live in Iloilo and eat a lot of those dishes right at home. The freshness and abundance here is mind blowing. Nicely done (retired doc filmmaker here).
Thanks Erwan and Featr for featuring ILOILO. Keep promoting filipino cuisine and tradition for the whole world to see. Bless you and miss my hometown too
Just a typical day whenever I go home to Iloilo from Manila. I love everything the city has to offer with food, but it gets really overwhelming. You're right. One is spoiled when one eats in Iloilo.
Amazing! I'm growing homesick with all these places we always frequented working in the nearby government office then. Thanks for featuring Iloilo City Erwan. More power!
I used to travel around Visayas a lot due to my previous job, and Iloilo and Bacolod have always been my fave stops where you can indulge in quick gastro adventures.
Gotta love the work put into these videos... if non-Filipinos ask what Filipino food is, just recommend this channel.. great job showcasing the wealth of dishes we have in the Philippines
I had a friend once from Cebu but grew up in Iloilo during her early childhood years. Came to visit Iloilo one time and mentioned that the fish (specifically Bangus) in Iloilo or Panay for that matter (since some of this come from fishponds outside of Iloilo as far as Capiz) just tastes so much sweeter or has that umami taste that is unique. You can taste it when you eat the belly part. Enjoy the seafood.
Thank you Erwan for really showing it in details- I am from estancia one of the best supplier for all seafoods and can attest that it is one of the most delicious food truly came from Iloilo ❤❤❤
FINALLY! Batwan over sampaloc anyday. Migrated to Iloilo 5 years ago. will never regret it. Best food in the Philippines. The ilonggos know food!

Wowww! This best food in Iloilo is by far my most favorite now from all of your creations and cinematic features. Very well done Erwan🥳🤩😍
You’re definitely right Erwan, food in Iloilo is so varied in flavors, and their chicken is undeniably one of the best. Nothing fancy only the basic condiments is enough to satisfy your palate. Thank you for sharing these gastronomic adventure, feel like going back to Iloilo again…
Unforgettable Mae
Welcome to my province. Iloilo is unstoppable when it comes to food. Thank you for this feature
Some day.
Wow congrats ur been in iloilo heusaff ❤ heart of the city
Thank u Erwan for featuring our beloved city.More power to u and ur team!♥️
Better done than what Bourdain did. WHY no subtitles at the long interview at Beige?! I live in Iloilo and eat a lot of those dishes right at home. The freshness and abundance here is mind blowing. Nicely done (retired doc filmmaker here).
One last request - your supers on what the dishes are - waaaay too fast to read. Really detracts
Nothing beats native chicken in my opinion. it's just tasty
Now you make me crave for my Ilonggo dish. Nagalaway ako. Hehe. Kudos to you Eurwan for trying and introducing our local dish to everyone.
I really feel like they stepped up the quality of their videos even more since Erwan won his James Bear Award :D always a great job!
Thank you Sir Erwan for featuring my hometown..hope u enjoy..God bless u more and Anne
Thank you for showing that Iloilo cuisine is more than just Lapaz Batchoy and Pancit Molo (tho i love both of these dishes 😅)
Congratulations Mr.Erwan.for exploring eating all food of Ionggo..
Thank you Erwan for really showing it in details- I am from estancia one of the best supplier for all seafoods and can attest that it is one of the most delicious food truly came from Iloilo ❤❤❤
Thanks Erwan for Iloilo visit and appreciating our food. Iloilo is the food basket of Panay Job well done.
I’ve been waiting for my hometown, Iloilo, to be featured here in FEATR!
Couldn’t get any prouder.
This brings back food trips memories growing up with my late mom. Thank you, Erwan!
