I’m from Negros and I must say that FEATR did a great job in showcasing Iloilo dishes. This is the kind of vlog that we like. Feels authentic and nostalgic especially these foods are so similar with our dishes here. Kudos to Erwan who ate for hours and hours! Kudos to your team for coming up with this feature.

I love that you featured other cuisines and not just batchoy which I always see from vloggers coming to Iloilo. That is true Ilonggo hospitality. We never take no for an answer when it comes to feeding our guests! That's how we show appreciation and ❤. We keep saying kaon ta ( let's eat, kaon na (come and eat), or always ask you ka kaon ka na ( have you eaten yet?)? So when this happens, just have a small bite of everything, or we will be sad if you refuse. 😂

I'M SO HAPPY LOLA NORA'S EATERY WAS FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO! I used to go to University of Iloilo and Nora's was just across the street from my school, we are a half day class only and after class before going to the gym, I always eat at Nora's to get that homemade taste and feel at home kind of vibe especially from the Lola's serving the place. This video definitely took me down memory lane, thanks to Erwan and the staff for featuring our beloved city of love.

We grew up with homecooked food, even in our carinderias. We always look for home-cooked meals. Laswa and sinugba whenever I go back home. They say Ilonggos are among those who are the hardest to please when it comes to food because we grew up with one of our parents who cooks, with the recipes passed on for generations.

Aroz de valenciana or just valenciana like we call it are staple in parties from birthdays to fiesta celebrations. And not just in the cities but in the smaller baranggays of different towns in the province. It’s a food that brings back a lot of memories too. Together with the molo soup which is my lola’s specialty. I miss my hometown even more after watching this. 🥺

living here now in Manila, food back home in Iloilo is really just different. especially yung mga sabaw na main dishes is cooked differently. my fave for sure is the nilaga, our own version of puchero, KBL, tinola, our home’s staple pinamalhan, and the seafood of course, it could be just crabs and dried fish for days back in my hometown. so happy that you visited local eateries and not just get some batchoy and stuff 😅 but overall such a great docu. “kagwapo gid ya bala sang bana ni Anne” hahaha

Living in Iloilo for 4 years throughout college has taught me that the best food in Iloilo can be found in the carenderias, some of which have been present for decades. You can go to place that serves La Paz batchoy since the 50's to a carenderia that specialized in fried chicken since the 40's all in the same area. What I miss most is eating bingka in Molo Plaza while peoplewatching.

Also, kansihan carenderia/stalls are everywhere in Iloilo, so pls try pata and patotin. Don’t forget KBL (kadyos, baboy, langka) as well very traditional! ❤

Thank you erwan!! You finally featured food of Iloilo City. I am so happy that you went to Nora’s eatery. It is our family’s favorite eatery if we go to the city from our hometown, Passi City. I felt bad that you did not taste adobado alimosan which is my favorite. But I am glad you had sinabawan fish head , inihaw na baboy, the ensaladang puso ng saging and the radish and ampalaya salad. The eatery is really the place that people from all walks of life would eat before Tatoy’s came in the picture. Now you know our family’s secret. 😂😂 You need to try Sobriedo’s batchoy (batchoy ni jasmine) in sta. Barbar, seafood at Tytche and in Bebot and Mila’s. In the coastal. Siopao in kongkee and their crispy bihon. Also please explore the foods of the province of Iloilo, to our hometowns. We also have our distinct foods that we can call our own. Enjoy!! ❤❤

Why do we negrense call ourselves ilonggos when we weren't raised and do not live in Iloilo?
If our ninuno came from Iloilo, isn't it na they're the ones who are ilonggos lang? Pero kita who were born and raised in Negros, I don't think we're ilonggos. They have a different manner of speaking and way of life than those who were born and raised in Bacolod or Negros.

p.s. Central Market was my go-to place when I was in college. Mercados really help me relaxed, sounds weird but I really love going to markets. Hihi

Iloilo is my dad’s family home. They moved to Roxas along the Loctugan river as a teen then on to Nuevo Viscaya in Luzon to the family farm. I’ve visited the PI several times but have yet to visit those locations. Some day.

3:07 When the auntie mentions how handsome you are as Anne's husband, I actually laughed a lot. That's amazing ahaha! But anyways, I hope to travel backto the Philippines soon! I've yet to see my family after a few years of being away due to COVID. My family is normally resided in Cagayan/Pagadian City (Mindanao), and I got a few who reside in Cebu. I've never tried Illongo food, but this documentary is quite insightful, and really draws you to want to explore!
