Why would they make something so easy so hard. Just put a key way on there Ford I’d so stupid they need to make laws that keep car makers from doing dumb stuff like this.
Big time, Ford and their better ideas. Two groves and a keyway would solve all this BS just to change a leaking crank shaft balancer seal. What a friggin joke.
Thank you for the video. Good job. The crank pulley does not have a reluctor tooth wheel. Can you please do a video explaining how this crank sensor works? Also use a lab scope to check waveforms. That we we will understand how the proper signal looks. Have a blessed and safe week.
Hi there great video I was wondering as I removed the pully the pick up ring came off the pully, do you have to put it on a certain position or can it go on anyway
Hi and many thanks for all the helpful and full of information videos. Iam going to replace the crankshaft pulley on my ford mondeo 2011 2.0tdci with powershift automatic gearbox. In this car the crankshaft pulley dont need alignment but iam wondering how to stop the engine from spinning with out blocking the flywheel. Thanks
Once you install the round LOCATING pin and turn the crankshaft clockwise until it contacts the LOCATING pin, You then install the CRANKSHAFT LOCKING tool into the starter bore (Hole that you took the starter out of. The video shows that tool in place. Do not try to do this job without installing the crankshaft locking tool. You have been warned...
Thanks guys., I fight 2 days with focus 1.6vct 2017, because there is an error in the auto date it says that the lock should enter the hole and this is not true, it is exactly the same as in 1.25 and in any other 1.6
I've 2016 Focus SE 2.0L GDI Flex fuel . engine . Can someone tell me if loose timing band will bend rods and valves ? One says yes another says no way . What's the truth ?? verry hard to find a good mechanic
Very good & informational video. Fords own repair manual does not have nearly the detail you include very nice job! I was terribly confused on the new tool that holds the flywheel. They didnt used to use this tool & alignment of the crankshaft pulley for the sensor wasn't as crucial. But in typical Ford fashion they changed the design & now a new special tool is needed!
@john simmons Dude that little hole the in the pulley is a signal for TDC for the sensor. Don't get that little hole in the right spot with that new special tool and it wont start/ know where TDC is. The force of tightening the crankshaft bolt keeps it and the sprocket from spinning nothing has a key way which is dumb and everyone who has worked on these engines knows this.
@@kingpuff10 That does not mean TDC.. You can be 180 out and it would fit. The second you start it. Go buy a new head. As the valves would be broke off. And I fixed these all the time. As people stick that tool in there to lock the crank. But the crank is touching the bottom of the pin. They start it for 5 seconds. Go buy a new head..You just broke the Valves off. And beat your pistons to death. Why you actually look inside that crank window. Too see where the Bolt is touching the Crank. It better be on the flat plane of the crank. Then make sure you replace the thrust washers behind the Crank pulley. Then use a new bolt.
@@MasterChief-sl9ro ummm no it is for the sensor to know where the crank is, it just won't start if off 180. The sprocket for the timing belt is what will bend valves if that isn't on tdc.
@@jasonmoore843 Bull shit dude. That hole is to lock that crank down. As it has no key way on the crank...And you have to physically see it touching the side of the balance shaft. As that holds the crank in place. While you tighten the crank pulley bolt down. So don't tell my how it works. I fixed many that people have destroyed their engine. Over this one step. AS they didn't understand it. As Ford and Mazda engines of this type are notorious for it.
@@MasterChief-sl9ro have you ever turned a timing belt engine over with the crank pulley off? Doesn't bend valves does it!! As long as the timing belt is timed on the cams and crank sprocket it wont bend valves. The pulley needs to be in the exact spot in relation to the crank because the magnetic poles are in it and the sensor needs to know exactly where tdc is for the spark and injector timing.
I need help guys or anyone who has did engine swap on 2014 ford fusion 1.5 turbo quick question iam going to be changing out the engine with a used engine same engine i took out going back in with same engine now when i complete the install will the engine run or will i need to reprogram ecm or the pats keys
What do you do if the crankshaft slides out of position. Mine moved and the timing belt didn't move. Now when I turn the crankshaft it locks up and doesn't go very far clockwise. How can I fix this problem.
u doing wrong when setup 303-1550 u did not follow correct Ford WIS proceedure right how to torque crank pulley bolt with or without remove this out first or NOT
Ford and there no timing pins to hold the pulleys just ticking time boms so that can sell u something else and make more lifetime belts and transmission fluid that is right because the car will only go 70k to 110 B4 u need a new car

Did you guys replace the gasket or seal on the crankshaft pulley? Or
@A Khan put a pipe on wrench
to put the screw that is necessary to remove the zipper?
This video helped me out. No idea pulley itself needed to be timed. Thanks, keep it up!
Un saludo a José California feliz Navidad y Año Nuevo

Very knowledgeable! You guys are on it! Thank you for detailed information
Hi there great video I was wondering as I removed the pully the pick up ring came off the pully, do you have to put it on a certain position or can it go on anyway
I didn't see any friction washers behind the crankshaft pulley will it hold timing without the use of the friction washers

For those without the tool - put the dot on the back of the crank pulley at 8 o'clock.

But what about the timing belt cover that is under the crankshaft pully
how long do you have the spindle by setting the shaft in tdc?
I have 2 sets of locks and one stem has 36mm and the other 38

Nice video's very helpful. Where are you from dude
Hi guys! Where i can find new crankshaft pulley for FORD Kuga Mk2 DM2 1.5 EcoBoost 150 HP Petrol?
Nice one
Why did you remove the driveshaft? The bearing mount can be removed without removing the driveshaft to get access for the TDC pin.
Because they’re ignorant, like most of the comments I’ve read here.

What if you have no crank pulley pin or if the crank pulley is offset will the engine start

jus to let anyone know whos wondering, this kit will NOT work for ford focuses
ST will eh!
nice video thank uo
The alignment tool is NOT needed on the 1.6L Duratec 16v Ti-VCT sigma (non-turbo engine) the crankshaft position sensor is in a different location.
What about for a 2016 ford fusion 2.5?
What if you didn't take the the pully off so you still have to set the crankshaft sensor?
Anyone knows the PN to order the kit from ebay or Amazon ?
It would be good to indicate the engine displacement in the title of the video.
Y 2014 Ford fiesta 1.6 don't have a crank sensor behind the crank pulley 😊
Is there a tool like this for an 09 Ford Flex?
Ford flex doesn’t requires any special tools to install crank pulley doesnt matter the position since they do have a keyway
I have a 2015 model fiesta in my hands now and the ckp on this one is at the flywheel everything else looks the same tho
What year make and model is the car this video is no help
How about the ford ranger2.2 how to align crankshaft sensor
How they take out the pulley is my question
u doing wrong when setup 303-1550 u did not follow correct Ford WIS proceedure right how to torque crank pulley bolt with or without remove this out first or NOT
Wow sir india
Ford and there no timing pins to hold the pulleys just ticking time boms so that can sell u something else and make more lifetime belts and transmission fluid that is right because the car will only go 70k to 110 B4 u need a new car
This kit doesn't work on my 2011 FORD FUSION SE 2.5 l !! , I bought the whole kit !!, and it's made for the
New Ford fusion and
Newer ford's.
What’s the point of this tool is it nessasary how does it even work
Never mind I got it 🙏
My 2014 is not on the crank shaft 😊
great video but not 100% correct proceedure
My Ford fiesta don't have a carkposition sense
Because you got a non turbo engine they are different.
Hmm, petrol engine me thinks, no good for me
N8
there is a hole inside the crank to put the pin in
You sound french.
