The whole "extend the screen" idea actually makes a lot more sense to me on a handheld then a TV. I'm surprised nobody's thought to do it before. The results speak for themselves
I love how you solved a problem giant electronics corporations couldn't, using a technology that already existed - and in the process created something incredibly novel. Well done :--)
@vincentgarcia38 acknowledging reality isn't enabling anything. All you've saying is that you don't like how reality feels. Tough titties. Physical media will always have a place with collectors and that's where the market is. Accept it or don't, but acknowledging the reality isn't going to change it.
This is infinitely cooler than reactive LEDs behind a TV. And I mean, those setups are already pretty cool. Incredible how every single project you do is a banger, and you manage to document it so well.
There's nothing like having to tune into a Shank Mods upload. This project, just like all your projects, is outstanding as hell, man. And also this at 9:02. Wonderful stuff as always!
"YOU ARE WATCHING A MASTER AT WORK" What I love about Shank is his constant reminder that we all stand on the shoulders of giants, and that other people's projects are the reason why he's able to craft to this level! As much as I like to see people who are able to do everything on their own, I really love the collaborative spirit you bring to the table. It's honestly inspiring to know that there are amazing community members out there, and people who care about niche things as much as you do. Also, let's goooo open source projects! Thank you Shank!
man every time you release a new video im in a completely different stage of my life as a completely different person, you’re like the coolest constant in my life
You have no idea how excited I am to see one of your videos. As a computer engineer I really love seeing how you get these projects up and running and inspire me to attempt at least one of your amazing projects in the future!
I literally saw an ad yesterday about reactive ambient lighting strips to apply on TVs. Now one day later, in a new Shank video, it has advanced to the portablizing scene! That’s awesome!
yooo its so sick how you got the Raspberry Pi Zero W to run the games and how you used the trimmed Wii motherboard to process the Raspberry Pi's image and control the LEDs! one day I hope I can get up to your level fr
Yeah, it's amazing! I hope he releases the GameCube and Wii emulator he used soon! I thought emulating the two on the Zero was impossible, but the mad lad did it!
This is one of the best stories I have heard in a very long time. Every time I thought it was over, it just...kept...delivering. Props for following through and not giving up in the early stages. Keep pursuing your dreams.
Bro you're back and with a very cool mod. I really like this idea, I think it's one of your best Wii/GameCube portables yet! Also, sorry for your loss: 1:07
i've been planning a similliar thing with this but instead with the switch, but only concept, since i have too much troubles with tech engineering. Gladly for you to make it yourself into an outstanding outcome.
This project looks cool as heck! Honestly love the use of Translucent Resin (I actually didn't know that type of resin existed). Also, neat how a Raspberry Pi was used without affecting the games at all. Still a Wii at heart. Also, I'm not sure if I've mentioned this, but I love your choice of music for the last few videos.
We love Micro Center. My PC is actually being serviced right now at the very Micro Center featured in this video and I've bought many PC accessories and parts here as well.
I have been watching your channel for a few years now and hopefully once im able to get the money to build a portable wii I can finally make one myself over the summer. You’re the entire reason im interested in portables and I can’t wait to finally make one myself.
Incredible work as always man. So cool of micro center to sponsor you. Something I oddly respect and hate about microcenter at the same time is their dedication to Brick and Mortar stores. For a very long time. I am talking about until like 2021 you couldn't really order online from them unless you were doing local pick-up. Which is incredible for supporting their employees. However for someone like me who lives in Tulsa with the closest micro center being kansas city or dallas which both are about 250 miles this kinda sucks. Hopefully they open one over here soon. Anyways I still cant believe you were on LTT. When I saw that I was so stoked for you.
I really appreciate that he acknowledged that he's lucky to live near one. I'm so tired of other sponsored TH-camrs and just general people who live near one acting like it's a national chain that anyone can go to. No. They have an abysmally low number of stores, and for the vast majority of people it would require planning a small vacation to visit one. If someone can just do a day trip, drive for 4-5 hours, visit Microcenter and maybe some other stuff to do in the area, then another 4-5 hours home and that's the entire day, that's still relatively "lucky" compared to a lot of people. So many people act like Microcenter is Walmart, that everyone has one, and it's obnoxious. Really awesome of Shank to acknowledge his luck in being near one. Also, I would really like to see Microcenter put less money in sponsorships and more into expansion. It's nice when they sponsor small channels and support cool projects like this. But then they go and sponsor TH-camrs with millions of subscribers who don't need the money (or free shopping sprees) and just end up rubbing everyone's noses in the fact that they can't go. Microcenter themselves advertises like they're Walmart, and again, it's obnoxious. I definitely feel you about oddly respecting and hating Microcenter at the same time.

Yes finally he has returned
Bro he was gone for like a year, not that big of a deal

No, definitely not. You keep a TV plugged in, handhelds use battery life. Chances are, after the first week, you’re not going to turn that on.
I love how you solved a problem giant electronics corporations couldn't, using a technology that already existed - and in the process created something incredibly novel. Well done :--)
I think the problem here is that it doesn't have an optical drive, so it wouldn't be a viable option for Nintendo to make.

Beautiful build Shank!! Love that the Power Wheels also got the LED treatment!

I would love to see this kind of idea on a Wii U Gamepad or a 3DS Shell but even if that never happens this is still pretty amazing
These videos are awesome. The phone actually getting smashed and the kiddie kart LED lights at the end were pretty good one-off gags lol.

legit the most beautiful handhelds I've seen with my eyes
This is actually a work of art.
I think the most hardest thing Shanks has to do is unlock all the characters on Smash Bros every time he builds a portable
So glad to see you back! Also nice that it’s a Wii something I’ve been interested in again as of late.
