Even though Cody won the "race" by getting the game and password faster, I think you're ultimately the winner because you gave the game to the public which Cody refused to do, stopping him from keeping the game for himself.
Well, I mean, it IS illegal to share dumped games (or, at least, so Google says). It's not like he's hoarding for the sake of hoarding, he just isn't comfortable breaking the law, which is understandable.

@@acethefox Yeah the FBI was waiting with baited breathe for someone to upload this to bust them lol
The real reason is probably cause Nick knows that he’ll make more money from this video than by hoarding the game. Cody doesn’t have a successful TH-cam channel, so the only value he gets from this rare game is by keeping it ‘rare’ and mysterious. The interesting part about it is that NIck’s video will ultimately drive up the demand for it… but also supply as more people start listing it. It’ll be interesting to see how the economics shake out here
I'm so curious as to why your brother would put such a rare and expensive item into his checked luggage instead of carrying it in his backpack, where he could personally monitor and assure its safety.
Omg the second he put it in the suitcase I was like “really?!” And as soon as he walked out of the airport terminal without it I was like “I had a feeling that would happen”. Might be a reasonable explanation as to why it was better off in checked luggage but damn I could see the suitcase issue coming before it happened. At least it all worked out

So again, thank you for what you have done.
But it wasn't his plan, he just didn't want to get into legal trouble, which is more than fair
@@gabilegameur nah, uneducated and greedy
@gabilegameur except it isn't. Nick has brought, objectively speaking, infinitely more attention to his dumped rom file and he hasn't gotten into trouble for it.
Let's be honest, Cody kept the game to himself because he wanted to own the rare thing because it made him feel special.
Neither Nintendo nor McDonalds care about you dumping an over decade old training game.
In fact, McDonalds did everything they could to let Cody play the darn thing when he brought it to them.
@@StormCrownSr
The fact Nick didn't get in trouble says nothing about whether or not the risk would've been worth it, and Cody had no idea it was gonna be so easy.
Also Cody mentioned knowing people who work on copyright and has to stay strict to the law because of it.
Believe me, nintendo REALLY cares about people dumping games from even the 2000's, you have no idea.
And McDonalds didn't encourage rom sharing any second.
The thing at 10:25 says it all - Cody trying to get other people to do the work to get the code all for himself
Thank you for dumping and uploading the rom, that's the best way to preserve these things for posterity.
I kind of understand why collectors buy stuff like this and sit on it without sharing, but all it takes is a house fire, or perhaps a relative discarding 'junk' after the owner dies, for these things to be lost forever.
I really enjoyed the video too, very well-paced and suspenseful.

"That person, IS ME."
Saw it coming from a mile away, but it still shook me. What a power play.
Yeah the build up was way too long, it became too obvious.
Same, except I thought he was gonna say “That person... is not me” and just troll us
I skipped 10 seconds and then cried. cinematic masterpiece

That would have unironically been more interesting. A story about him being sniped and then trying to track it down only to find out someone bought it specifically for him.
lol nice joke
This must have been what it felt like when Robert falcon Scott reached the south pole only to realize roald Amundsen had beaten him there by about 3 weeks. Good thing you didn't have to die on the way home in the antarctic wilderness
omgg what are the odds i wish ive seen this beforee!! im watching this two years later, but its still cool and loved the editing!!! so cool that you could get it all in time
imagine playing a game and getting a world record speedrun and nobody being able to beat it because nobody else can play it because you are the only one with a copy of that game
😂
Well anyone can play it now lol
Yeah but that is really unfare though right??
@@ravishankarsammeta8590 no
@@ravishankarsammeta8590 nope its the good thing

"... is me."
NICK PLEASE.
Our man seriously spent 3,000$ on the World's Rarest Advertisement.
And we expected it.
You can't blame the man. He's lovin' it, after all.
God damn it. This was funnier in my head.
koji Ayyy nice profile pic
Dude wills a brother into existence and creates a whole life backstory for him just to get a DS game
So true 🤣
I don’t know if I’m entirely convinced that his brother isn’t just him with longer hair and someone dubbing the voice, they look so much alike
@@CaseyShontz thats.. what a brother is.
@@ozzboom9907 true shit

I knew the “it was me” was coming, but actually hearing Nick say it was crazy holy shit

@SuperWiiBros08 That would be incredible if that happened. But, it's been 20 years since it was first shown to the public at Spaceworld, so I doubt it still exists. But, you never know. Edit: Forgot to put this in but I fixed some grammar and spelling lol.

This video is amazing in design. It's very re-watchable despite how long it is.
What an incredible story. You're an amazing story teller and what amazing video editing you offer. I can appreciate and relate to why you took this endeavour on. Top notch work! Happy new year!

Code just didn’t want to sell his copy

Nick is a mad man, we love him for it.
Which video was that?

This is one of the best TH-cam story videos ever made, so many unexpected plots.
And the ending, oh man....
Congrats 👏!
