    I haven't seen anyone talk about diffusing oregano oil if you're sick so if I'm repeating myself, I'm sorry. I had a little boy that I fostered for years. He had a huge sensitivity to antibiotics so I'd begun reading about old healing ways. I found doterra but there are many really good oils.... they need to say therapeutic grade though. For my little guy, it worked so well that he always asked for oregano oil once he'd developed strep symptoms or ear infection. He loved the hot smell because he associated it with feeling better! It made my house smell like an Italian restaurant. 😂 Anyway, I just wanted to bring up the diffusing method. Thanks for all your suggestions!

    Oregano oil got rid of my dog's terrible cough that he'd had for weeks and nothing I tried worked I read conflicting things about safely giving oregano oil to dogs but I put two drops in about a 1/4 cup of coconut oil and mixed in 1 tsp turmeric. Gave him 1 tsp 3x/day and the cough was completely gone by day 3. Oh, and he loved it, never had to coax him to take it. Thank you for this informative video!

    Oregano is a warming oil and can be too much for very sensitive skin if used straight (neat.) Heidi is very correct in suggesting dilution with a carrier oil. There is another method of use and that is applying neat and putting a carrier oil on top of skin. This is also good to remember in case of an accidental spill or splash or maybe that area of skin was more sensitive than you thought it was. If you find yourself with a warming oil in the wrong spot or didn't dilute it enough for you, DO NOT USE WATER! This will speed up the absorption and make it hotter. Apply carrier oil right on top of affected area to slow down the oregano. In an emergency, you can use any neutral oil, vegetable oil, mineral oil, anything that is nearby that will help. But please for the love of God don't use water.

    I’ve been using oil of oregano oil. It’s the Mediterranean one. This week I wasn’t sure if I have a cold or just an allergies… Mine has olive oil in it. I put two drops under my tongue and drink a little water with it. Last night i did it again too and I think it’s helping. I have sinus issues but no cough, fever or aches and pains so I’m thinking it’s more of a build up of being out of town and eating at restaurants that have hidden sugar and possible seed oils which I don’t do at home.. I love your videos! Always learn so much!

    I bought my golden oregano 3 years ago. And love the thing that they keep growing even on wintertime. I live in Portland Oregon. And the weather here is cold and we get too much rain and my spicy oregano and golden oregano they still keep their leaves for me to use. Golden oregano really takes over.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We get even more rain where we are at, with 120" annual average and up to 160". Portland gets only 43", which is a little less than Seattle. The golden oregano here dies completely back while the Mediterranean oregano does keep some green.

To your subscribers If they're not familiar with oregano ESSENTIAL OIL never use it alone on your skin, mix it with Olive oil, grape seed oil, avocado oil,etc.If you're going to ingest it putting one drop in an empty capsule is ok.and take the capsule with juice or water.Never ingest the ESSENTIAL OIL ALONE it could burn your insides.The best way to ingest oregano is by using the LEAF and making a TEA.also of coarse the way Heidi says to take it.Great video Heidi great info.BLESSINGS.

    Re-watching... what I do every year while clearing a new space is to move my clumps of Oregano to new territory around the garden. The bees love it, so there's always some flowering out! They need protection thru the winter, too!
    My path around garden is full and when mowing the area, it's fragrance brings more bees in. Of course, you must love the bees too! I give clumps of it to others yearly when I help others begin their gardens. Great for all our pollinators.

    I just printed off some free seed packet templates off the internet and started selling off seeds for 1 euro on ebay since so many seeds are sold out at the moment. The majoram and oregano are flowering at the moment, If you live in eu i could send some out in about a month when they are ripe. I thonk they might be cross polinated though because they grow next to each other in a garden bed.

    So my son learned first hand how hot oregano essential oil was. I had bought some for some worts he had for 5+ years, even had them frozen and they didnt leave. I left the room and was going to get some carrier oil and I came back to a bunch of hollering and tears. He had put it on straight. His fingers swelled and it hurt bad. I washed it off with dish soap and he swore he wouldn't touch that stuff again. Fast forward a few weeks and the worts disappeared! It is effective, just definately should be diluted! Haha

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ouch! Great that it worked though!

    • @enjerth78
      @enjerth78 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could immediately dilute with the carrier oil instead of washing. When I test a blend and it's too concentrated, immediately adding the carrier oil to the site relieves the sting pretty effectively.

    Do you have a whole separate room you use and do you keep it a specific humidity, temperature,

    What are you thoughts? Is oregano still good/useful AFTER it has flowered? It got SO hot here in Iowa - and it got away from me. I harvested and dried some this spring before it flowered. But its all flowered now. Still good?
    Also - I am one of those that looked all spring for golden oregano also - I'm going to grab it early (late winter, even) for next year.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is still good, it just will not be as strong in flavor which would lead me to believe the benefits are also not as strong but I would still collect and use it, including the flowers
