- “Blink Twice” has been really divisive since its release. It’s a movie that simply isn’t for me, and that’s ok. What’s not ok, I feel, are some of the things I’ve read about it. Find out more here!

I will say, I have seen it twice. It is definitely not gratuitous. It is only ever implied, there's no nudity shown, it is definitely focused more so on the empowerment of the women banding together throughout the film. There's no sexually explicit visuals, there's no sex that takes place at all in the film. If I remember correctly, there isn't even a kiss shared between the characters at any point in the film. There are flashbacks to the r*pe events but it cuts away from everything before anything can happen. The only thing that is shown is one scene where a man has one of the female characters tied and bent over a table and it's implied that it will eventually lead to a r*pe soon, and then the only other visuals are like one scene with the girls tied up and on the ground, and yes I will admit they are crying and screaming and the men are talking about them while standing over them but not about sex or what they're going to do to them or anything. I thought for the graphic nature of the subject matter, and all of the highly explicit ways this COULD have been shot (especially if it had fallen into the wrong hands) this film was extremely well done, very tasteful, not even a fraction as graphic or disturbing as it could have been, and really does handle this subject with nuance and delicacy. There's only enough shown to give you an idea of what's happening. Which is more than enough given how disturbing the concept is. The film is one of my top 5 films of the year so far. I highly recommend it.
I've seen far more graphic scenes of sexual violence in The Nightingale, Euphoria, and Game of Thrones. This is nowhere near any of those levels of gratuitous sexual violence.
Thank you for your comment and insight. I really appreciate it. And yeah I’ve heard it’s a really good movie. I may check it out one day.
@@UnapologeticGeekTVdon’t listen to her. That movie was very disgraceful in how they portrayed SA. They did not need to show it at all. Those scenes were graphic af!
There was a scene where the girl was raped
Agreed. This was no The last house on the Left, a movie that explicitly depicts a minor getting gang r*ped and shot. In Blink Twice its implied
Saw the movie...and in Short ...it sucks pun not intended lol...didn't finish watching the movie because of boredom...the film started ok but it faded in the end ...the acting wasn't convincing at all .
It was like the female version of Get Out
From what I heard, this is accurate.
I saw this with two friends. One, like me, enjoyed it and didn’t think it was too gratuitous or triggering. But the other had nightmares and was definitely triggered as the warning implies. I think it’s completely up to each person’s personal experiences. While there is no blatant nudity, it’s definitely heavily implied and is not shied away from, to the point where even I was like “okay let’s move on already”.
The big let down for me was that since I try to avoid spoilers and hadn’t looked too deeply into the movie, I had no idea there was a trigger warning until we had already planned our movie night, bought the tickets, and sat through 20 minutes of commercials/previews. If there’s gonna be a trigger warning it should be obvious BEFORE you spend your money so everyone can make a pressure-free decision.
Thanks for commenting and yeah that’s exactly how it should’ve been handled. It’s crazy doing a trigger warning after you’re seated.
I still see flashes and my body freezes sometimes. Its been a darn week since i saw that movie. Crazy thing is i never in my life had any trouble after watching movies.and i have seen some f-ed up stuff so i donno why this is affecting me so mutch. @@UnapologeticGeekTV
There shouldn't be any "trigger warning", the movie is rated R and its not the first movie to depict violence on women. Nothing depicted was that shocking or special, it was like "Get Out" but not as well put together.
@@toofar2real Not to me, i can watch Get Out all day and not be bothered. Its been more then a month and i still see flashes of this darn movie sometimes.
@@Hillary429 i agree. This the second movie i have watched with a trigger warning. The other was mother which bothered me for months. I have since watched mother 3 times and finally get it. Blink twice was a good movie but so disturbing i was sorry i paid money to be bothered like that. I have decided the next time i am at a movie with a trigger warning i am getting up and getting my money back. Both mother and blink twice were worth watching just from the safety of my home on the small screen. Going to the movies os more immersive and i think more triggering
Honestly so grateful for this video I thought it was gonna be a mystery thriller didn't know it was going to include those themes and would've made me really uncomfortable if I had watched it with no warning
Thanks for watching! Glad I saved you the time
I'm enjoyed when I saw the movie, especially the violence, and dark but dried humor with a taboo subject matter like this, however, I'm can understand that this type of film is not gonna be everybody's cup of tea because of trigger themes in this movie, especially people's personal reasons because what they going through those situations like this. Also, I'm don't think there is not much nxdity in the film, all they showed before & after they got grape in flashbacks because of that venom snake drink they have when their memories came back, however, the only they showed is that they wearing white bathing suits (which is bikinis) and that it.
Plus, I'm personally don't mind watching this movie again because it's not like some of the films with bleak tone such as "For Colored Girls", "Precious", "Requiem For A Dream" or "Joker". So I can deal with that.
Thanks for your comment! I truly appreciate it.
Fair enough reasons why you wouldn’t want to watch it. I can’t say after watching that I’d watch it again
Thanks for watching man! I appreciate it
It wasn’t handled well tbh
You are crazy Zoe Kravitz is a phenomenal director this is get out good star studded cast and great writing people should avoid this channel and your reviews 😅
I just saw this. Lmaooo thanks
My question is why do women always have to feel empowered? Like did I miss something? How do they go from girl boss, out pacing men financially and academically, but yet they always need empowerment? This movie was a feminist version of get out.
No matter what we achieve, men can physically overpower us. And that's scary asf. Esp when ur minding your own business
This was interesting…
