Just a heads up: If you are running into displacement issues, try setting your Displacement Center value to 0 in your master material. You'll find this in the material details panel on the left. Depending on your setup you can get really nasty results.
he has said a lot of bad things about his product so i don't think he is trying to mislead anyone. Not saying the product is bad but just saying that he is talking about the good and bad.
Man, I'm a carpenter and have no need for this; I don't do any dev work, not any work in UE5. I just think it's cool and enjoy learning/peering behind the curtain. You've done a great job making it easy for people to learn how to use and troubleshoot. A great tutorial for your demo and use. Nicely done!
bought within 12 mins of watching the video. I was sold by your professionalism. Pretty sure ive purchased all of your projects! you need a bigger team, you make assets that us small creators need!
The snow looks stunning, your reference studying definitely paid off. I know Niagara myself, but everything in this BP is so nicely organised and the Material system is very impressive, and as a means to support you for all your amazing content over the years, I'll have to grab it! BTW: regarding MRQ, I want to bring to your attention the following: "Demystifying sampling in Movie Render Queue" by Epic Staff on the UE learning hub. This in particular: "By default, the engine renders with a "Frame Center" shutter timing for motion blur. With this in mind, it's best to keep your sampling to odd numbers so that you get a sample on the keyframe for any animated impact or change or direction. It will help this motion come across more cleanly in your render."
This Unreal plugin came just as I was thinking of doing a snow cinematic. This save me from using stoc footage and allows more control of angle. You never cease to amaze me. In fact most of what I learned from Unreal was from you.
was wanting to swap out uds weather with a more pronounced and direct able snow.. listened to my intuition and held off taking this project to the finish line. I am graced today with the exact tool I needed to make that happen.. Thanks again william faucher for putting in the work now take my money
Woah... I'm a beginner in UE. And discovering all these possibilities is just fun. This snow looks awesome and the pricetag for this is a steal. Thank you so much for this. Amazing work.
Absolutely love it. Great functions, very affordable, and soooooo pretty! Going to take a shot at implementing with some of my scenes today - this is generating excitement and motivation! A few questions: 1. Is there a pathway make the materials work with Landscape / Terrain in 5.4? 2. WIll this work with Runtime Virtual Texturing? 3. Any plans for dynamic terrain displacement, i.e. tire tracks, footsteps, etc? I can see how that would be an entirely separate project, but would be neat to be able to match up the shaders.
I love it when tools such as these are created. I don't want to have to do things like these on my own and would rather focus on just making good-looking art.
Will - Thank you so much for creating tools of such high quality at reasonable prices for us struggling UE artists, newbies and hobbyist. I recently decided I wanted to do a "snow scene" cinematic and have spent (and dreaded) the last week collecting TH-cam BP tutorials on how best to do snow effects. I quickly could see this was going to be a very complicated and time consuming BP to create. (I'm on a monthly living budget, so buying a plug-in for $50 or more isn't an option unfortunately.) I woke up this morning and literally screamed "THANK YOU WILLIAM FAUCHER!!!" and bought it. You are a life saver. This is EXACTLY what I needed.
@@WilliamFaucher - Finally got to implement this in my recent cinematic and I F-ING LOVE IT! It's so easy to use and this video tutorial did a fantastic job of explaining the common settings. One issue I ran into and perhaps you can offer some suggestions to resolve it. My scene has some City Sample Vehicles in it and I have the Drift option enabled on EasySnow. I noticed (especially from a distance) that the Drift/fog doesn't render when it passes over anything translucent (ex: Windows/taillights, etc.) so I get the effect of barely seeing the outline of the car, but the windows/taillights are crystal clear. I played around with all the LIGHTING MODES in the Drift material as your video suggested, but there was no change. Any thoughts/suggestions?
This is a wonderful project, and I actually love the idea of creating the shapes and rendering them in a way how snowflakes look in real life. This is not an easy task, and it seems like we have something big here. Thank you, William!
Was happy to check the link to buy after the first seven minutes, only $10! Not only that the more I watch the better it gets. Also as an I've lived in the upper arctic for decades, I think I'll have fun testing this thing.
I will only say this, " William, why is this only CAD 13? " Amazing tool, thanks for such an affordable and super helpful tool and of course your tutorials are always gold! Best wishes, man!
You are really making the line of easy buttons from staples for unreal. I really like all the product you come up with and find them super useful plus the cost is spot on. Cheers,
Okay you got me, I bought all your plugins! As a 3D artist working with "classical" raytracing engines, you convinced me that Unreal is the way to go for the years to come. The quality of your work and videos is so inspiring, thank you so much William ❤
I probably got recommended this because I like CG stuff, and I've watched some Unreal things. That said, it's not something I'm probably EVER going to use. I'm still 100% buying it, though, if only to throw money at this person for doing something not only amazingly awesome, but also making it EASY to use, AND EXPLAINING HOW TO USE IT. I may buy it twice!
You are INSANE! This is the best looking snow I've ever seen and you made the process of using it so quick and easy. The GOAT. I'll buy this 100%, already have all your other stuff lol.
Just picked up Easy Snow - got all three Easy products now. Looking forward to testing them out in a production setting for upcoming scifi series, filming in November. Cheers. Thanks for the awesome product!
Well done William !, great addition to the community from you as usual !. Now I'm waiting for an EasyDust :) Already bought this one. Thank you so much !
Another great plugin. Those snowflakes look soo good. Its one of the things I never got: Why do people make great looking dynamics for snow FX and then have simple soft sphere particles....That bit of extra works you did in making realistic clumps is SO worth it. Also glad you reminded me that I too wanted to figure out a fix for the snow glimmering in the shadows issue...:) Been a while I toyed with it, maybe I know more now than I did back then, but hopefully you find a fix before I do...
Christmas came in may this year :) Beautiful and detailed tool, will definitely remember to try it when I'll have a winter project somewhere. And the mesh approach in oposite to sprites is definitely a gamechanger on the realism side of things!
Thanks! I'd much rather be honest and open about the shortcomings, so that when people complain in reviews, I can direct them to the documentation, and they don't really have a leg to stand on :) Helps people make more informed decisions before buying!
You could create a "snow repel" module in your niagara system and plug in the camera position to push back the snowflakes that come too close to the lens. Quite easy to do, loop over each particle, check the distance from the camera, if under a certain user controlled threshold, create a vector from the camera to the particle and use it to change the velocity of that particle.
At the moment any particle that gets too close will be killed off, but if there is a way to simply gently push it away instead, with a user controller parameter, that's even better. I will absolutely look into this. Thank you for the suggestion!
For the Global/Box mask thing, try using CPD instead of a parameter collection. It would still limit it to 1BP per overlapped actor BUT you could have multiple in the world. Used a similar approach with great success in a previous project to replace per instance vertex colour painting. Also there are ways to make that box mask be rotatable you just have to do the maths yourself. I made a sphere/plane mask where you could blend between the 2 options so you could have an elongated sphere or curved plane, both of which were directional depending on the gizmo rotation.
Another great package at a very reasonable price. Just one observation (before purchasing, so correct me if I'm wrong) - but maybe it would be nice to have an option to pick a level wind actor to read things like wind strength and direction from (and as a fall back, leave the current controls). It wouldn't take much to manually align these, but if you have a wind system that changes direction dynamically, you'll have to remember to update the wind direction and strength in your system too. Not a huge deal, but maybe a nice feature for next version and should be easy to implement. Anyway, thanks again for your support to the community.
As always an amazing product, I'll probably not use the snow particles but combining the material function with Ultra Dynamic Sky could give some crazy results
Everything you and your team make for Unreal is top quality and offers insane value. I am hoping for a full weather system with your amazing artistic details and impeccable controls. I am still having problems creating a good rain and storm system that works well with covers.
This is fantastic! EasyFog has become a constant in so many of my projects since it came out and can't wait to try this out too. Quite keen to play around with it to see if it can work for something like Volcanic ash as well
Made my purchase instantly! Another great and affordable product. You mentioned using easysnow for dust particles, can you make a video showcasing how we can do this?
Brother, first off, thank you for developing this Blueprint! My team and I are already testing it in Production at the VFX studio I work for! But also, you must share the Anamorphic settings you're using to get that barrel distortion! It's so realistic! The normal Unreal camera settings usually do not achieve that realistic barrel distortion, at least to my knowledge? Thanks for all your hard work man! Cheers! 🙏
