About the brakes, people having been measuring their front brakes on the RWD and it was 14 inch, just like the AWD, the media press release and spec sheet of VW USA must be wrong. Also the part catalog of VW USA also link to the same exact part. Also people here in Quebec already got success fitting 18in wheels for winter from what I heard.

Great review on the ID.4 Pro S AWD, although there were audio glitches on the interstate portion. I do wish they would offer the Lunar Grey interior across all the exterior color choices. I know what you mean about buggy vehicle apps. My Honda Clarity uses HondaLink which is one of the worst.

Thanks for posting the video. I've been a first edition owner since July. What happens when you were backing up frequently happens to me when I shift around the seat. It's an overly sensitive weight sensor. Vw knows about it and they're not making a fix. Be glad you mentioned about the front assist feature randomly 'crashing'. My car has had that and continually since I bought it good along with ACC arrows Lane assist and display.. all of the assist features randomly go out. It is spent a total of five weeks in the shop. They replaced three computer modules and so steering wheel buttons for the assist features. Very surprised its still happening on the new models

I just took ownership of the same spec car (except in Scale Silver) a few weeks ago - great car! I'm in San Diego and apparently VAG has re-routed a lot of their west coast imports through San Diego due to the nightmare that is the Port of Los Angeles. 90% of my complaints are software-related and I'm hoping most of these will be resolved in the 3.0 release (~March I'm hearing). Other than that - still hate the stupid 2-button window control panel. I'm hoping the 3rd party market will devise a 4-button drop-in alternative. Still hate the piano black finishes (dust magnet). Stereo is just OK. Center console could be better designed (where do I put my change and loose small items?) No sunglasses holder. But these are small quibbles - the car itself is great.
P.S. Car-Net is garbage and next to worthless. This app needs a complete rewrite - hope that comes in the near future as well.

Dave. A friend talked me in to the DMM3 Tesla. It was the 1st four wheel drive vehicles I have owned. I must say I would never go back to a two wheel drive again.
The traction is outstanding, just point the front wheels where you want to go and hit the throttle.
Do you like the id4 better than the Tesla?
A friend has a Bolt EV Premiere 2020 (no battery problem yet!)
We took a road trip and the EA charging stations were the biggest pain in the a**.
Chargers were broken, card readers would not work and just a terrible time charging.
I don't think I could deal with the CCS1 network.
I've had a Tri motor Cybertruck on order since the first week and placed a deposit on a Ford F-150 Lighting just in case the Cybertruck gets delayed any more.

@@dconner9 thanks alot. idk, man. Where is the lowest point based on your observation? Maybe the chin spoiler?
I don't think the wheel size makes a difference since the 19" get thicker rubber sidewall (/50 over /45?), So the exterior diameter of the tire should be similar. I ordered an AWD Pro thinking maybe I can bring it to beach and drive on the sands.

    • @dconner9

It is exactly 8 3/16” of ground clearance under the drivers seats from the ground to the battery pack cover which seemed to be the lowest point under the car except for some small plastic pieces in front of the rear wheels which seem to be wind deflectors. (Very small). Hope this helps!

@@dconner9 thank you so much David. That is a proper SUV clearance. Yea, I can care less of those air flaps in front of rear wheel. Almost all new vehicles have them for MPG, including f150. So if the official 8.2" number is for AWD, and they said the RWD sits 0.6" lower, then the RWD would be sitting at 7.6" of ground clearance, still respectful especially comparing to other EV "SUVs" such as Model Y, Mach E, bolt EUV, etc. All those have a clearance around 6" plus or minus.

I really like this is.4. It's a beautiful SUV and unlike everything else electric it actually looks like a normal SUV. The only issues I have is the top speed, acceleration, range and tech. Manufacturers have a long way to go to catch Tesla. Not to mention their huge supercharger network. If you're gonna offer vehicles in the same price range you have to at least compete with the specs.

    • @heathcox397
      @heathcox397 2 ปีที่แล้ว

EA is a joke! What's even more disgraceful is that VW owns EA and can't even get its cars working properly on its chargers. VW Group as a whole has major software issues as evident by Dave pointing out with the App communication being so slow (2019 e-Tron owners had a 7 week outage that Audi denied anything being wrong on their end). Makes sense why EA chargers are abysmal because VW is developing the software that runs on them!
No major outlet wants to call them out for such poor performance.

@@brandenflasch - I drive from LA to SF often and every trip I’m on the phone to EA. Chargers don’t start, slow charging speeds or just randomly stop during charging. It’s not the car as everyone I’ve spoken to while charging has an “EA story”. One stop had 6 chargers and EA made me move the car to every different one to try and get working. A car was using one and the owner returned. His comment was “this is the only one that works and has been this way for weeks”. EA claimed it wasn’t true but still couldn’t get the 5 chargers working after multiple restarts. The guy leaves, I plug in and that charger worked. They don’t maintain the network so glad you didn’t experience the hot mess I always get in California.

You have regen when you brake! I hate my Tesla because it does only regen when you go off the throttle. Porsche even refuses this stupid one pedal drive, and right they are! We have also on ICE car so it really is confusing and not consistent ... The hybrid we had was also regenerating when using the braking pedal, and you could easily see when were using regen or regen + physical braking, very consistent between different cars. Tesla should introduce the option! B-mode was as strong regen as "breaking" ... so please Elon have both options.
