Beeswax is neither a true emulsifier nor in any way a preservative. It will not stop your cream from molding, growing fungus, or becoming a breeding ground for bacteria.
@@Lovelygreens are you sure? I created lipbalm with beeswax and some oils, three years ago and its still the same, was never refrigarated. Still not rancid, no mold either. (It does not contains distilled water though.)
@@aaanita it definitely isn't an actual emulsifier, however, it can help the emulsification happen, it just doesn't make it stable. And although beeswax can't mold or go rancid itself, it doesn't protect the other oils from doing so either. Lip balm is a pretty stable formula because it is simple, there's no water, and it is pretty firm. All three things reduce the likelihood that it will go bad. So using it in lotions will not provide preservative action, or stabilize the emulsification.
I've been making my own skincare for many years. I enjoyed your video, thank you. I'm writing this while trying to beat the heat as I sip fresh mint & sweet basil, strawberry tea, sweetened with liquid stevia. One of many deliciously hydrating cold beverages I've had thanks to my garden offerings.
Hello there can you please tell me how long exactly do these creams last. I’m afraid to make them as a gift and having them go bad so early as a 18 months because I don’t know if my ladies will use it right away.
They say water and oil don't mix. You proved to me that they mix and match perfectly! A wonderful cream ☁. Another broken paradigm! I loved the technique. Gratitude! 🙏
Ordered the book! And I had safflower oil and dried german chamomile and a jar ready to go so I put together an oil infusion. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and knowledge! You also inspired me to start a calendula oil infusion and that should be ready in about a week. :)
Thank you for sharing. I forgot how much I miss making lotions and creams. In a recipe like this, I used to also infuse the herb into the water phase so that my liquid was more of a tea. I’m growing chamomile in my garden this year so I’m looking forward to making this recipe.
Thank you for sharing this great and simple recipe. I have found way too many lotion recipes with too many chemicals, and this is just what I was in need of. ❤
What a simple recipe. I have such a hard time getting emulsification of my creams and lotions. I cannot wait to try this. My chamomile is almost flowering! Thanks so much.
My Chamomile ended up getting smothered by a sudden Growth of Weeds. So I have had to do a Pull Out Everything from the Chamomile Patch and Smother It will Grass Ciippings and Black Plastic. There is enough Surviving Chamomile Plants to get enough Seed for Replanting my Chamomile Patch next Spring. I am now experimenting with No Dig Gardening. I have a Potato Patch going with Ground that I have prepared using No Dig Method of Preparation. So far, the Potato Plants have gotten Huge and is starting to produce Blossoms.

What a wonderful and inspiring video. I am so excited to have found your channel and I am going to order your book! Looking forward to watching more and learning from you thank you so much.
I've made this recipe several times now and love it so much! Perfect every time! I love that there's no blending involved. In fact, every recipe of yours I've tried has worked out so well, that I now no longer want to make anyone else's recipes! So, my question: do you think I could follow this recipe, and substitute half of the distilled water for magnesium "oil"? Most of the magnesium lotion recipes I've come across use beeswax as the emulsifier. 🙄 Cheers! ~Audrey
Lovely feedback - thank you :) I've not worked with Magnesium oil before, but I think you can use it that way. Make a small batch and see? Also, beeswax is not a true emulsifier. I wouldn't recommend making any recipes that say it is. Beeswax is a thickener, and any lotion-like product made with it as an "emulsifier" can sweat or separate, especially with temperature fluctuation.
@@Lovelygreens I did give it a try and it didn't work quite as well. The only change I made was to sub half the water for the magnesium "oil." I ended up having to use my immersion blender for everything to emulsify, which made a very "whipped" consistency, but it's held now for several days without separation. I probably won't do it again. Yes, the use of beeswax as an emulsifier is usually my first clue that someone doesn't really know what they're doing with a recipe. 🙃

Sun spots unfortunately come with a lifetime enjoying the sun. There are patches below each corner of the eye that many people get and other spots and marks. Sun damage is best treated by using a vitamin A derivative called retinol. It's not something that you can make at home, though.
