    I insulated a metal garage in California and it dropped the temp coming off door by about 100 degree. Granted it was painted brown and facing south. 170°f+ dropped down to 80 85° I just used the rigged stuff, but could also add the reflective bubble over that. It was one giant heater before

    Just got this garage door opener installed. I noticed when I put my hand on the surface of the garage door opener unit that something is constantly running inside, feels like a motor, even though the garage door has already completed an open or closed door cycle. Anyone else?

    Hi Sean why can't you use the same measurements for the old one for the new one for the 96 inches??

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question Joey. You typically can use the same measurement when replacing an opener, I wanted to show folks what they needed to do if they were installing a new one without having an existing one.

    I have the same one but different model number. Do you need to replace the T safe beam or can I use the existing one? same question with the wall mount control.

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed response Chao. Honestly I’m not sure, the T safe beams maybe but I’m guessing the controller is keyed to the opener. It might work with the same opener manufacturer. Let me know if you tried it and what the outcome was.

    Should i remove my previous springs now that i have installed an opener now ?

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless the springs are broken or are not working you should be ok to leave them in place. I didn’t change mine.
      If they do need to be replaced you should consider hiring a garage door professional to do it. The springs are no joke, and if not installed properly with the correct tools and know how can cause serious injury.

    Hello. Does the turnbuckle go inside the part you install at 7:27?

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The belt goes through that part. That is the piece that attaches to the door arm and moves the door up and down.

    • @LaRiata357
      @LaRiata357 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeanDoesDIY how does the belt grip that part to get the door arm to move? Without putting the turnbuckle inside that part, I don’t see how the door arm will move.

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once you tighten the turnbuckle it goes into that part and then the emergency release lever locks it in place driving the door.

    My track bows up severally when the door goes down. How do I correct this?

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Max, if it happens when the door is fully closed you may need to adjust the down limit stop. The opener should be set to stop down travel when the door weather seal starts to compress. Your instructions should tell you how to set the up and down travel limits.

    • @maxmaguire5225
      @maxmaguire5225 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeanDoesDIY i set the down limit. But when the door is in operation it seems to bind 12” from the bottom causing the drive track to bow.

    • @SeanDoesDIY
      @SeanDoesDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does the door operate normally when you open and close it manually with the opener disconnected? If it doesn’t, the tracks could be out of alignment or there could be a problem with one or more of the rollers. If it does, the opener track may not be be perfectly square or level. When the door is closed, check the angle of the door arm. It should be angle away from the door. If it straight up and down, it will push the track up.

      Check the angle of the opener arm, that’s a common cause for the bowing.
