  • Chamberlain Garage Door Opener: homedepot.sjv....
    With the commonality of many types of garage door openers (Chamberlain, Craftsman, and LiftMaster) changing out your old garage door opener for a new model can take as little as 10 minutes. Seriously! Now you might run into a snag or 2 but I will walk you through the process of swapping out my old Chamberlain HD660M Whisper Drive for a new Chamberlain B750. This new model only cost $200 for Home Depot and at that price you can't order too many parts for your old opener before it makes more sense to just buy a whole new unit and upgrade your opener. Not to mention I now have spare parts for my keypad, safety sensors, remotes, rail, and more. Best of luck with your repair and if you have any questions jump down in the comments and I will be happy to help.

    I have never been so eager to put a comment on a video. THANK YOU!!!!! I watched your vid a few times and paused at each step. BINGO it works! As a new home owner money seems to fly out of the wallet every week for a repair or upgrade. I was proud I was able to fix this myself. With your help. Thanks!

    Absolutely great step-by-step video. I came across this video while considering whether to have a new Chamberlain door garage opener installed by a professional or do it myself. The company quoted me approx. $1000 for equipment and labour, so after watching this detailed video, I drove to the hardware store and bought a new Chamberlain MyIQ and I installed it myself. The video is what actually convinced me. Thanks very much and you now have a new subscriber!

    Thank you for the great tutorial. I replaced my Liftmaster 1/3 h.p. with a Chamberlain 2212t. Mine had a t-rail, so the only thing I replaced was the motor and the wall switch. I wish I had seen your video before I started, because I used wire instead of a bungee cord, which would've been a breeze. Your video helped immensely iingetting it running after the install. Thanks again for the help!

    Thanks for your video. I must replace mine and was a bit intimidated by the process. I was quoted $525-$625 incluiding the equipment. After this video, I think that I could do it myself and save a couple of $$$

    Thanks, man! I did the swap myself yesterday! All because of your video. Replaced a 10+ year old Chamberlain Whisper Drive Plus with a brand new Chamberlain B4505T from The Home Depot. My husband and I tackled this project today. The only trouble we had was that we had to loosen the chain to be able to get the rail connected to the new opener. We installed a LiftMaster and other than the chain issue the instructions were pretty spot on. It was really helpful and gave us confidence to try this ourselves. Thank you!!

    Great video! Great help!. One of my two garage door openers stopped working. Called local garage guys. All said it would cost $400-$450 to replace, depending on the model of the replacement opener.
    I started looking around and discovered that Chamberlain makes the openers for Lift Master and Craftsman and that many models can be easily swapped - just like in this video.
    Turns out the holes in the Chamberlain unit to attach to the rail exactly matched my non-working Craftsman. (The holes on the side of the unit didn't exactly match the holes in the mounting bracket but just had to move the new unit forward a bit and could them attach it to the mounting bracket. No problem!).
    And, didn't have to replace the rail or door sensors. All work fine with the new Chamberlain.
    So, for $159, I replace my old Craftsman with a new Chamberlain.
    The remote for the other door, also a Craftsman, was able to sync with the new opener on the first try.
    So, all set up!
    Didn't take 10 minutes - more like 45, but it all worked just like in this video.

    Thank you. Took a little more than 10 minutes, but you covered everything. The one thing I'd point out for garage door beginners is that if you disengage the door from the trolly, you need to both reengage the door to the "outer" trolly, but also make sure that the outer trolly is engaged with the inner part. Don't bother tensioning the belt until you do that. (basically, if the system isn't ready to handle a load, adjusting tension will be useless.)

    Very helpfulvide. When the remote sensor died Liftmaster told me the part is no longer made. So following your basic instructions I successfully replaced a 15-year old Liftmaster unit (chain drive, not belt) with a new Chamberlain. FYI, the old door button and remote would not work with the new unit. Used the new door button and new remote and it works fine -- apparently electronic technology has changed after 15-years!

    I was swapping a 14 year old LiftMaster 3280 that was going bad. This was a major help for me. Although the old one was "light on front and back" and they don't seem to make the one you did your video about, it still was useful. I bought a B4505T that is presently $219 at Home Depot. The cable mounted about 1/2" closer but I tried it anyway. Mechanically it worked wonderfully. I was able to use old heavy duty bar and cable, sensors, etc. The new one is so quiet and smooth. My old one sounded like it was coming off the wall many times.
    The Chamberlain instructions are not clear on the fact the wall control is wired. My present Security+ was RF and it is not compatible. None of the old remote controls are apparently. Vehicles worked fine. Look up HomeKit if you are not sure about that.
    I am having to figure out how to get wires to the opener 'hidden' as it is a two story house. I also have two doors, so I will be doing this whole thing again.
    Had I not seen this video, I would have had to replace the entire assembly or pay someone.💰 Did I mention I have two doors? 😀
    I have watched several of your videos. Even if it is not something I plan to do, I like to learn and you make it simple. Thanks again.

    I do home maintenance. When a Circuit board needs to be replaced on a garage door opener I have it done. It’s easier for them to get the boards. Last time the repairman told me not to uses LED light bulbs in the opener because of interference. I myself have old GE LED bright sticks in my garage door opener so I didn’t think much of it. Then I had to fix a Lift Master. Bad door sensor. The customer gave me LED bulbs to install. The bulbs would not screw in far enough to work. Then I seen Genie came out with low interference LED bulbs. I was wondering if that’s true and if it is wouldn’t all new LED bulbs be low interference.

    I would be interested to know what led you to replace the unit. Had something failed? I just replaced my 25 year old Lift Master because I wanted to go from a chain to a belt drive to reduce noise below a living space. I had kept the old unit alive by replacing the gear and sprocket a couple of times. My new Chamberlain unit has a lifetime motor and belt warranty, 5 years for parts. Chamberlain is the consumer brand and only comes with the square multi-piece rail, so it was necessary to replace the 1 piece T-rail used by the Lift Master.

    Thanks for the video. It helps! I have a question. I have Chamberlain B6753T LED Belt Drive Garage Door Opener. It does not come with an exterior wireless keypad remote control. Do you know which wireless keypad is compatible this garage door opener? Thank you.

    I have an antique Stanley garage door opener, lost the remote and it is noisy now. If I buy a new one, will it be remove old one then plug and play the new one?

    I bought an older home that has a perfectly good Chamberlin garage door system (motor) only issue there was no opener given at closing, I tried to program a universal remote opener with no luck.... my question is could this motor just be too old to reprogram a new remote?

      If it has a learn button it should be able to be programmed, there are multiple things that could effect the remote not working… led light bulb, bad antenna, bad logic board.

    What tool did you use to take bolts off?

    Can I swap a Garage Door Opener on a 9 feet tall existing opener with T rails? Will new opener adjustments work to open 9 feet door? HD sells with 7 feet rails so I like to leave my existing rails and only swap the opener unit.

    Nope, both that easy. Mine won't move by the remotes anymore but ckicks like it's getting the signal, just doesn't move unless I hit the arrows manually

    Hi. I used your tutorial to install my new Chamberlain to replace my old Liftmaster. After some struggling to make the swap, the first issue is that the wall switch doesn't work! Haven't tried the remotes, but I can operate manually with the buttons on the motor. Thoughts?

    • @ahm911
      @ahm911 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      sounds like a wiring problem, did you wire the switch in right? was it working before? and did you check the wire if it got broke or damaged somewhere from the switch

      @tyroneshoelace4872 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ahm911 I have since made progress on my issue. Not a wiring problem. Seems that wall switch, all remotes, and car Homelink are not compatible with this Chamberlain. No one tells you that.

    Wait did you replace the old belt? If not your old belt will weather rot and then you will be back up there doing it all over again. This is improper and all your warranties will be no good.
