The wear resistance and heat profile is the reason I got my 0.4mm obxidian nozzle. The print speed is just a bonus.

I got both 0.4 and 0.6. The 0.4 is in one of my X1C's and working perfect! Heck, you should try to slice normal and than print on ludricous mode... It just prints fine, I couldn't tell the difference between the two Orca Cube's (one on 100% and one on 166%)... only one thing did reveal it: overhang above the orca slicer logo (and even that was acceptable for a normal print). Soon I'll place the 0.6 in one of my other X1C's.
did that upgrade more than a month ago, have not regret it
I got a 0.6 E3D nozzle for my X1C and got a max flow rate test up above 30mm3/s with black PLA basic. Then I tried printing yellow HF TPU 95A with it and got a few chunks of black PLA contamination in the print. My guess is that the TPU took the path of least resistance through the multi channel design of the nozzle and then cleared two of the channels during the print.
Should I dedicate nozzles for each type of filament or do I need to clear some other way than just purging?
how much is your purge setting for that change?
Now they need to bring that one diamond company, diamond back I think it is and make this nozzle last an eternity
I did have my 0.4 HF Obxidian Bambu Lab nozzle fail on me. The pressed on the nozzle simply came off (I have pictures I can share). To E3D credit, they took care of it and sent me a replacement nozzle super quickly!!

I know you had issues with bambu and am looking at getting into 3d printing, is it a good buy? The other one ive been looking at is qidi x max 3. Help this is a very deep rabbit hole ive jumped into 😂
I wonder which will come first. MK4 Diamondback or E3D Revo on MK4. lol (either would put a diamond on my printer)
Really interested in this, I already print with a volumetric flow rate of 30 on my stock P1S for ABS and 25 for PLA, so I don't think I will get as much of savings, but still want to support this move for what it is and also E3D.
How are you getting flow that high on the stock hotend, it is not possible without vastly overheating the PLA (unless it is bambu's pla, but we wont run that as their TDS does not say what additives are in there). ABS that is fine though.
I feel like my bambu is either a god among mortals or yours are a lemon, because every single problem you have had I’ve never experienced anything close, so I either got really lucky or you got really unlucky
I think his Bambu printers listened in when he was talking about Custom firmware and now they're all being defiant😂
I had 2 lemons. This 3rd one, from a fan, works fine. They were issues well before custom firmware. Frankly, that custom firmware has been great.
Hi, ive been sleeplessly looking at what printer to get and ive settled beetween the Bambulab X1C and the Voron 2.4. I know that with bambu the speed is hard to match with a voron, but ive heard that print quality like layer adhesion is better on the voron, as well as the open source and ability to mod.
Is it worth going through the effort on the voron or should i just get an x1C?
Is this a first printer? And what will you be making?
@@3DMusketeers This certainly will be my first perssonally owned 3d printer. I am not new to using 3d printers though and i love tinkering and making things and programming.
I would want to make a decent 2.4 kit, improve its hardware and make a toolchanger system as well as some other useful bits like a nozzle cam.
While i have heard the "Get a voron if your hobby is 3d printers, get a bambu if your hobby is 3d printing" but after lookin more into vorons i want to build one to have the freedom to modify whatever I want.
While yes i do want to also 3d print parts (engineering projects at home, rc aircraft parts) But i want to have the fun of building
I've had terrible experiences with Bambu. Their data collection is excessive at best, and no air gap capability is BS and a means for further data collection IMO. Ours is rooted and cracked now so I can update offline, etc..
I've detailed my issues with Bambu in videos.
I'm finishing a trident build currently, it's been fun, but a ton of work. I can't say I recommend it for newbies either. It's not the most straightforward thing either.
If you want a great kit building experience, get a Prusa IMO. Their kits are second to none that I've tried!
Also only do 2 colors for your voron.. mistakes were made here lol.

The unfortunate thing is that E3D is not competing with the clones in either design or price. The V3 bambu clone has a removeable nozzle so you can easily clear the (unlicensed) CHT geometry without any fuss, or swap nozzle sizes without buying another $70 hotend.
The clone has a copper heatsink, a fully supported heatbreak, removeable nozzle tips (and comes with extras) The clone also comes with a heater and thermistor.
The e3d comes with none of those for almost 4 times the price.
It is hard to justify spending much more for a worse product in the name of someone elses intelectual property. That IP has become impossible to actually protect in this market, and if E3D and other western 3DP companies want to stay in business they are going to have to compete on more than "We were here first" alone.
Same feeling, got a clone for under $20 and look at this obxidian stuff as another "IP Cash grab". You remember the time when open-source community-based projects were a thing? Now it's just whoever can make the most money off of someone else's idea.. Nothing beats the idea of spending $70 for MORE proprietary tech on my proprietary printer that we as a community are begging to be more open-source!
Do you want to support small businesses that have made 3d printing possible (E3D) or do you want to support the clones that just push price to the floor.
Price is irrelevant to me if it just works. Especially if it maintains warranty support and such.
And the fake ones seem to use a copper slug, which is not abrasive resistant.
I support companies that support this industry and many of us are here directly because of E3D :)

E3D is legendary, but that's not an excuse to price gouge or be stagnant. I do not believe in gov. mandated monopolies.
Functional is debateable. I have had clogs in genuine bondtech CHT nozzles and I will tell you, without being able to remove the actual splitting geometry from the hotend, some of those clogs are going to be functionally impossible to clear.
Now your $70 nozzle is in the trash. Or best case, you have to wait for a replacement from E3D.
As another commenter has said, in practice the copper does not wear like you'd expect. Most abrasion wear is at nozzle tip where the abrassive material is forced through the opening. When it does wear the replacement part is $1.
You do not need warranty or support on a $20 hotend with $1 replacement nozzles. You can service it all yourself, easily, for pennies, and do it faster than any warranty service can or will respond to you.
@@3DMusketeers this answer is the biggest problem right now "support small companies, without this company we weren't here today".... you are right and yes, I will prefert support a "small" company instead of a nameless one from Aliexpress... but..... this shouldn't be a justification for everything, yes, they do pay a royalty to BL for the partnership and warranty and I am happy to pay extra for that, plus their known quality, but you need to justify the price with something else, the clones are on paper better in multiple things, the Panda Revo one, very expensive, is better than this one... this is just like the stock one with more flow and they called the day... still harder to clean, still impossible to swap quick without taking everything apart...
it looked like your print was dragging a tad. I know z-hop slows you down, but just the slightest amount seems like it would avoid those drag marks.
in the prints shown they are specifically over extruded on infill, we could add more, but its working LOL. Maybe one day..

Pleeease if you are going to speed race your trident against a bambu then I would love to see after your normal tests you chuck something like a rapido 2 and a cht nozzle and go again! Get even more flow!
I am curious how well this manages quality. You can push speed to insane limits. But, theres a point where speed degrades quality. For me and my customers, crazy ringing is not acceptable
Eventually the vfa issues on the Bambu are what they are. You can't fix it because closed source.

I've been waiting over 2 months for my panda revo and their customer service is horrible. They recently started telling me it was going to ship in two days... that was over a week ago. Seriously contemplating getting a refund and never buying another product from them again
Someone has put a volcano on a Mk4, which should have been standard for the Mk4. Equipping such fast printers with mediocre hotends should not happen.
The Bambu is going to be faster than the voron with a revo. The revo hot end is really slow. No need to test.
The REVO high flow, which would match the high flow of the Bambu. Without high flow they both should extrude about the same. That's pretty common.

And neither does the Bambu ;) lol. Bone stock the hotends are capped at 12mm3/s but let's add high flow to both and see!! Right?
There is no point to do that, because with higher speed, layer adhesion is significantly weaker.
No adverse impact on later adhesion in our testing, but it's anecdotal at best.
