I really wanna see a "but better" series with a set rules in it, like : - you can't exceed the cost of the ingredients used in the thing you are trying to "defeat", and if you are up against a fast food item, it's going to be interesting if you can do that in less than an hour at most because taking too much time prepping your ingredients kinda kills the "but better" meaning when you are up against a fast food item, right? - you must have several taste-testers because simply using your own palate to judge whether or not it's better kinda felt unfair, don't you think? giving both the one you made and the fast food made one to some random people should do the trick for this one - if you test the food after being wrapped for a while in a bag and compare it to your freshly made one, that's quite unfair on its own, so you should also do the same to your food and see if it can still taste better after it went through the same thing the other one got I think it's going to be more interesting that way
I agree with you, rules like this make sense, of course you can cook better food if you have enough prep time, but fast food restaurants are suppose to take no more than half an hour to an hour at most, if not within a few minutes, it's because of that factor the food is as bland as he says
That last point is one I've considered ever since I watched. He'll pick up a fast food item and then let it sit for HOURS while he puts all this stuff together, including setting up the camera to refocus it and do more B-roll. Then he'll bring his personal friend onto the show to taste test his stuff which was made within the hour and sometimes still has steam coming off of it. So if there was a way for you to travel to Nebraska just to get a burger, and then make it but better, I would be honored. And also amazed because Runza truly is amazing. (Again, to me)
I had not heard of Dry Malt (Diastatic) baking Powder. I bake a lot of stuff using recipes (I don't know that much about baking, I just try a lot). This is the first recipe I have seen that calls for this product. It's very interesting. Great video!
He also uses diastatic malt powder in his Domino's Pizza But Better episode. In that video, he says that it just contributes to the browning of the bread when baking, so I'm pretty sure it has the same purpose here.
This is so different to the UK one, which is much larger, snd comes in a crispy batter, in a seeded bun. I think there might be a little mustard in the mayo too? It's pretty great. Or at least, they used to be. These look like the ones that are sold as "Mayo Chicken" over here, much smaller and from their saver menu.
yeah this looks like our chicken and cheese burger size in Australia, we have mcchicken which is the size of a quater pounder and then chicken deluxe that has cheese and tomato on it also.
Considering how good you make these videos look im stunned that the modern commercial still insists on making ads with fake food using motor oil and glue
This is interesting. Here in Australia the McChicken is a full sized burger (as far as anything at Maccas is). The one seen here looks more like a chicken version of a junior burger, even down to the bun. I wish I could justify having enough oil on hand to deep fry, but sadly I'm even less allowed it than Josh is.
Interestingly, that sandwich is called a Junior chicken over in Canada. Mcchickens here are even less flavourful haha, the Pattie’s are just giant giant nuggets. At least the junior chicken has seasoning. Only good thing about our mcchickens is that the sauce is really good (habanero sauce go brrrr)

@@ShadoClone Oh that is interesting, not just using egg or butter to help brown the crust. I saw that episode and didn't remember it. Good catch.
Diastatic and non diastatic work quite differently. Diastatic malt also helps with fermentation but is mostly used commercially for even browning.
The difference is I can't give money to joshua to eat his McChicken , but I can give it to McD
Considering how good you make these videos look im stunned that the modern commercial still insists on making ads with fake food using motor oil and glue
Wow, looks like alot of work, but the end result, omg. I also love your humorous style. I just subscribed ☺️.
This is interesting. Here in Australia the McChicken is a full sized burger (as far as anything at Maccas is). The one seen here looks more like a chicken version of a junior burger, even down to the bun. I wish I could justify having enough oil on hand to deep fry, but sadly I'm even less allowed it than Josh is.
my question is... what kind of frying oil do you use? peanut, vegie, shortening, lard or something else?
The McChicken is honestly my go to when I go to McDonald's.
It's the sauce that makes me like it. It tastes different from normal mayo and it's very nice.
4:34 has the question been asked here what could be substituted for the pork fat? I see on the recipe that someone asked but no response yet
incredible but better video. especially the music at the end SLAPS
I wish mcchickens were $1 still, they’re about $3 dollars now
Where I live they re about 6 euros lol
Always waiting for new videos 👍 keep making Tasty Videos ❤️
I’m very sure your food is bomb and delicious, but your way is too difficult. Basic cookers probably never copy your cooking lol
Are you sure? Because I am one of those and I am 13.
@@Mithic_sk I just don’t have the equipment like he does
@@marcoquiroz3879 like what exactly? You can do most of it on a stove, in an oven or by hand.
I cooked about 4 recipes yet including this one.
I'm copying this sub grinding my own meat and the bread I don't have a mixer sadly
I love how Josh's love of "shredduce," went from California surfer dude to refined British gentleman lol!!!
Josh, you are the perfect person to ask! Can you make a video on food plating? I love cooking but I wanna go to the next level. 🗣Halp!
here after mcdonald’s boycott 🇵🇸
Lol what? 💀
@@EliaMiliteChristican’t your Brian comprehend that?
@@Caaasln-ib3jn so polite 🤗
Thank you so much because you stopped stuffing your fat face with burgers the war has cease fired all because you boycotted mcdonalds 🖕🤡

i waited my whole life for this recipe. thanks josh
Joshua's taking up the challenge ' alone ' puts Mcchicken to shame !
Job well done 👏🏼 💯
you do not know how much i waited for this.
That looks absolutely fantastic. What would you add to make the breading more of spicy chicken?
Yeah you got "it". Very entertaining, kept my attention the whole way through. Love it
Watching josh's video while you are tipsy is so entertaining😂😂😂
This made my mouth water. I. Need. This!!!!
You and your videos and GOAT my guy! Hard work pays off
joshua i love you!!!! please do a dunkin bagel twist but better it’s my dream!!!!!!!!
I've been waiting so long for this video
Interestingly, that sandwich is called a Junior chicken over in Canada. Mcchickens here are even less flavourful haha, the Pattie’s are just giant giant nuggets. At least the junior chicken has seasoning. Only good thing about our mcchickens is that the sauce is really good (habanero sauce go brrrr)
Josh, you should do a But Better on Culvers! They have really good hamburgers and I'd love to see you make them even better.
0:40 i am absolutely loving that the modem sound is coming back as a meme. And it couldn't be more adequate.
I have never eaten a chicken sandwich but boy, does that look good
This quote should be in his book " worth watching for hours" lmao had my dying
literally one of my fav chicken sandwiches ..Im so grateful my mcd's keep standards super high..they come out as fresh as possible for pre packaged meat lol ,no soggy lettuce or anything my mcd's really A1
The fact Josh didn't even flinch when biting it, you know it's good
Fuiyoh! Uncle Joshua you didn't forget MSG!!
Yes, For All Of Us!
I love how you remade the chicken sandwich it looks delicious 🎉😊🎉
I used to love the McChicken when I was younger, so now I’m definitely making this
Bravo.... i just love this item but now i love you (five years from now actually) haha Big hugs from Chile Joshua
I was telling my husband I've been wanting a McChicken and then *boom* !!! So excited to try this
Made this and it is FANTASTIC!! 10/10
Good to see 2 of my favorites: Mc chicken and mc kits😂
