I have been wringing water out of all my clothes for last 3 months, towels, jeans, comforters , and everything else 😑.......until I saw this video....OMG. my friend did it for me and now it works beautifully!! Spins on high speed, no more vibration and refills. If you were here I swear I'd kiss you. Thank you!!! You don't know how happy you made me!!!
So we bought this washer from a dude on Craigslist for 25 dollars. He said, the washer kept refilling water and would not spin all the way. Essentially, the washer would not finish the load all the way and kept resetting the time back. I thought to myself, I can have someone fix it for 100 bucks and I could have a good washer for 125 dollars. Well my husband ran into this video and we had a foam mattress laying around that I bought at a thrift store for 3 dollars. He put the foam in exactly how you said and BAM! It started to work like new. No error message or restarting. We have washed 8 full loads now. Thank you so so much for this upload. :)
Mom of 4! Is super thankful to you for posting this video. I do laundry everyday! And I have been getting that stupid DC code! The hubby fixed it in 5 minutes. Thank you so much. It's really sad that this has made me so very happy lol. I've been ringing out wet clothes by hand!!!! For months!! Thank you again!!
Michael, you are a good man my friend! I followed your instructions and my washer is like new. I purchased the mattress pad for $18. My wife says it's like we have a new machine again. That's just how well your solution is working for us. The washer has not stopped once. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I'm sure you have helped many with this situation.
Thank you !!! I purchased a Samsung washing machine 3 years ago for $800. I figured spend a lot and get the best. Wow was I wrong. When it gets to the spin cycle it rocks and shuts down. I called a repair man to look at it ($89) to come out. He told me it would cost over $500 and take 4 weeks. I told him to leave. (by the way just a note on washing machine repairmen. They say it will cost $89 but it will be deducted from the bill when they repair it. However, they know it can't be repaired or no one will pay over $500 to fix it.) So I filled mine with foam and it worked for about 3 days. I think what happened is the foam moved around. So I packed the heck out of it with more foam, and IT WORKS! Thank you again Michael Fry.
We were going crazy with the "dc" message coming up numerous times on every load. We did a pared - down version of this fix, only adding foam with duct tape at the four sides near the top (that's all the foam we had). That was a week ago and it's worked perfectly ever since! :D Thanks for sharing, Michael!
You saved me $200 for the service call alone. We went with the pool noodle method (pipe insulation piece at Lowe's for $2). The only difference with our model is that we couldn't get the top off because it was bolted in the back. So I took the back off and threaded the noodle around the top. Then we put it all back together and I threw a huge load of clothes in. I thought, go big or go home. It's definitely squeeky with the noodle in there but it's spinning beautifully. Which is great because my model of machine not only tilted but it would automatically go back in the cycle and start rinsing the clothes again! I realized this after noting that there was no real spinning action happening. Just lots of water. That load probably rinsed 5 times before I figured it out. Anyhoo, I can see that this is probably only a temporary fix but I'll take it. Thank you!
Great video !! It got me searching for a solution for my dc error. I used the foam and the washer started walking around. I ordered the new rods with springs. They came in under 48 hours, I popped the top off again, removed the foam, replaced the rods in under 10 minutes. I crossed my fingers started a load of clothes and waited for the horrible banging to start later. It is running smooth now with no issues. 75 bucks to fix this issue and I ordered the lithium grease through amazon for about 10 bucks. This issue is the rods and springs, they say they wear out about every 2 years which is awful, but I was about to buy another washer for about 800.00. Thank you very much for saving my marriage. I will be getting some lovin tonight on my cleanly washed sheets and the only banging I am going to hear now is ................. well you get the picture !!
+Peter LemonJello Hi Peter, i'm currently experiencing same issue right now. Would like to know what are the part numbers you got (for the rod and spring) as well as the lithium grease. Also, where do you recommend to get them? Thanks!
Thank you for putting this $14 (mattress pad foam at Walmart) and 20 minute fix on youtube. our machine wouldn't spin for nuts, gave the DC (according to my spouse has been doing this for a while, they re-balance the clothes and it would continue, but not today). So I saw your video and yelled to my spouse to get dressed, we're going to Walmart. I put the foams in the 4 corners, threw the heavy wet clothes back in, and just spin wouldn't work, so it went into Rinse & Spin. This time it worked. The machine was so quiet from lack of jumping on the drum I didn't even know it was working. WOW, thanks again!
Hi Michael, Thank you for that video - I used it for opening my Samsung washer . However, I have some small comments regarding opening the top panel: the tool used to push springs can scratch the front panel and it takes time finding the springs blindly. Therefore I used the following technique which worked for me: 1. I opened screws on the back as you have shown in the video 2. Lifted the back of top panel (unscrewed side) for ~3 inch up. ( It is possible once it is unscrewed). 3. Shifted the top panel forward toward the front panel. You should hear the click from those springs you opened with the tool on your video. And yes, replacing the rods works well ! I found them for ~15 USD online , so the overall cost of that repair was ~ $60 instead of $350 quoted from Samsung. Regards,
Thank you for posting this video. After trying your fix we are successfully washing laundry again. Twenty-minutes of "labor" and a $14.00 full-size memory foam pad from Walmart is all this took!
Michael, You are a genius. I can't thank you enough for posting this. My washer started about 2 months ago giving me the DC code. I would sometimes have to restart the washer 4-5 times wasting a lot of power and water not to mention driving me insane. I would sometimes give up and throw the clothes in the dryer dripping with water and need to run it through the dryer 2 times to get them dry. I bought the pad from Walmart yesterday for about $8. It took me about 15-20 minutes to get it up and running. We have since done 3 loads with no error code which hasn't happened in a long time.
I have put the foam pad and it is working well. Thank you so much. Samsung should be ashamed. This washer should be in the recall list. They knew the "DC" error problem; but, denied to take action and wanted to charge $300 for a simple fix. Wrong strategy by Samsung for selling cheap and taking market shares with BAD quality.
Thank you. My washer had same code 6 months into using it. so I put it to the side and kept using the old one. Till the old one finally broke down. So I watched your video cut up some foam and it worked. Samsung had even refunded me the price of the washer so this fix is even better..thank again bud
We are having the exact same issue and we have also had ours for 2 yrs. This video and all the comments below make me feel hopeful we can fix it without paying big $$$ for repair or having to buy a new washer after only 2 yrs, especially considering the money we spent on this set. My old Whirlpool that wasn't fancy by any means lasted us 17 yrs, sheesh!
This was very helpful to me. I did have to adjust the foam to the sides, front and back, and not any in the corners. This could be because before I added the foam padding they sent a service technician to replace the dampers. After the damper replacement we still where having problems with the dc error. When the washer went into the spin cycle it bounced the basket then the unbalanced dc error occurred. I figured I had nothing to lose so I tried this and it has been running error free for several months now. Thanks !!!
Had the same problem. We could not wash anything, even the smallest load, no matter the setting - dc error every time. A simple fix is to shut off the washer after the dc error comes up and manually adjust the load, if it looks unbalanced. Then hold the "SPIN" button for ten seconds, until you hear a beep. With the top closed, press "START" and it will immediately go into the spin cycle. So far this has worked for us.
Thank you for posting! My husband and I completed this last night with the WA400PJHDWR washer. We used foam padding from Walmart (~$8) just in case it did not work for us. I have completed one load successfully without the dreaded DC error code that usually came on at 7 minutes until the load was finished. I called Samsung before completing with the mattress topper. Since our machine was more than a year old (we purchased in Fall 2013), they would not do anything and told me if I did not have a "Certified Samsung" repair specialist come out, it would void all other warranties (10 Year Direct Drive). I will never buy a Samsung washer again - there are only two of us, and we complete 3-4 loads of laundry every week, so this should not be happening only after 2.5 years of ownership. Again, thank you!!!
hi, can you please please tell me if this is still working for you guys?? or did you eventually have to replace the rods everyone keeps talking about? I have your exact model and want to try this tonight! Thanks in advance for updating us if your washer is still working 6 months later after you used the foam to fix it. ;)
Hi Michelle, As of today, yes! It is still working. However, I would recommend using as dense of foam as possible and definitely duck taping the top so the foam stays in place. This summer it acted up but after a week of me fighting with the foam to stay in place, it seems like it is holding again. (crossing my fingers). Good luck to you guys! Meghan
So just an update... this did not work for me unfortunately. I'm pretty sure I did it right the way everyone said but still did nothing to resolve my issue. Instead I just ordered the 4 rods in each corner ( forgot what they are called, stabalizers?) Anyways, they got here in 2 days. They were about $16 each plus tax from Sears. And I got a little discount because I'm a rewards member there. I also bought the white lithium grease it needs at home depot for under $4. I watched a video on how to replace the rods and it literally took 20 minutes to open the top up, take out all the foam and then replace each rod one by one. (It's easier to just swap out one at a time and then move to the next rod) and then just put the top back on, then plugged it in, then tried it! It worked like a charm! Still works and hopefully keeps working lol. Thanks for the advice still though, it might have helped other people that read these threads!
Thanks for the video! I too was about to buy a new machine. 2 days and spin cycle is working as it should. Thanks again......and a little shame on Samsung for not using more resilient material!
Thank you for the fix. I don't know how much time I have spent reloading and trying to balance this machine. Installed the foam and absolutely amazing.
Thanks for posting this video. I had the same problem with my Kenmore Cabrio washer. I replaced the suspension springs and added some memory foam to fill in the gaps on the inside. No more complaints from the wife !! . Even on loads that are slightly unbalanced the machine just keeps on going. Hopefully it does not put extra wear on my tub bearing. I already had to replace it twice over the last 6 years.
have to say micheal, ive done everything you said and right now everything is working like a champ and the machine is spinning with now error code. thanks for the jimmy rig solution
Today, I picked up a full/queen pad from Dollar General for $12.00. I cut the pad into fifths. First I cut 14 inches off of the long side of the rectangle and then cut that piece into 1/4ths by following the folded creases in the pad. These were for the sides of the tub. I cut the remaining piece into 1/4ths by following the creases in the pad. When you are done, you have 4 long rectangular pieces and 4 squares. I opened up the tub and placed the pieces in. On the sides, I folded the squares into 1/4ths. For the sides I folded the edges into thirds and rolled it up by folding over 3 times and leaving a tail that would reach down to the bottom of the rod. Then I taped all pieces into place with duct tape available for $3.50 at DG. I closed the washer up and I was done in 35 minutes. I will test with a load tomorrow but I'm pretty sure it will work because it keeps the tub from rocking around. $16 is a whole lot better than ~$95 to have 4 new spring rods and some grease delivered and trying to install that and I'm gonna guess it would be over $300 to have a technician bring the rods out and install them. Thanks, Michael! UPDATE: The test load I ran today worked. I also recommend recalibrating your washer, following the video and set of instructions for your machine shown here: www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00047245/
Slightly different washer for me, but worked. There were two metal hooks on the sides. Hack-sawed them off. Got a $10 twin foam topper at Bed Bath and Beyond. Cut it up. Runs now smoother than when new. Thank you! So glad to get a load done without the hassle and frustration that has been happening of late, and no DC code in sight.
Michael: Thank you for posting your idea to fix the "out of balance" problem on your Samsung washer. After several attempts to level and correct the problem this is the only one that worked. NICE JOB!!
YOU ARE THE MAN!!!!!! I JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE A QUEEN SIZE MATTRESS TOPPER, CUT IT UP MADE 4 PIECES, STUFFED THEM IN THE 4 CORNERS AND LIKE MAGIC MY MACHINE IS WORKING PERFECT!!!!! CAN'T THANK YOU ENOUGH!!!!! I WAS ON HOLD WAITING FOR SAMSUNG TO PICK UP LONGER THAN IT TOOK FOR ME TO FOLLOW YOUR INSTRUCTIONS AND MY WASH LOAD TO FINISH!!!!! THANKS AGAIN!!! KATHY
Michael, We were ready to go out and buy a new washer and we decided to watch youtube and look for a possible solution. I have made it through 2 loads so far... Thank you soooooo much...so far so good.... even if it lasts only a short while at least we tried something.
My opinion as a servicer of LG & Samsung: This work around would work but it won't stop the tub assembly from being unbalanced. It will just dampen the effect. There will still be excessive wobble and vibrations that you can't tell that will effect the structure of the unit. Especially the damper supports - which when they break do extensive damage to the unit. Samsung came out with an improved damper that comes with a special grease ( very sticky stuff ) to address this problem. The part number is DC97-05280W. They are sold as each so order 4.
Excessive wobble? The pad significantly reduces the wobble. Excessive is if the machine walks or bangs on wall. I understand what your saying with vibration and your concern. I think a good way to gauge it is to compare the wobble with the new part, vs adding pads. You could put a glass of water on top and compare the movements with both configurations. I think i might do this. I have the new part coming soon.
Wellllllll. After putting in regular old foams from Walmart. The Mainstays Mattress Pad to be exact ($14). My machine did a Rinse & Spin and it was Flawless. Apparently it had been throwing DC errors for a while, but I wasn't told, until I did the laundry today and saw it and nothing would make it spin until I put the foams in. My machine was Far more quiet during spin than even when it was brand spanking new, So thanks, but this is a marvelous fix.
Took me a couple tries, as the first time I packed it too tight... But after I found the magic amount of tension the fix worked amazingly! saved me $$ as I had an old memory foam pad laying around, and seems to have resolved the problem completely! Great Hack!
Thanks for the fix. Has been working for a couple of weeks now without any stops. I was prepared to buy the rods and springs, but this has us good to go for now. Thanks!
Obviously I know this isn't the correct fix, BUT this is the fix I needed. I actually tried this before but with a much stiffer foam. Using a mattress topper did the trick till we get a new set. Thanks for the vid.
Thank u so much for posting!! This totally fixed my problem. I was SO frustrated with Samsung telling me my load was unbalanced, or I had too many clothes... it was to the point where I was seriously washing like 4 things at a time to try and make it work 😤 Thank u SO much. U saved me a very expensive repair, or worse, having to buy a new one completely.
Your fix worked like a charm. Used some rolled up shop towels for right now to keep the wife happy, going out to get some memory foam to do it right later this week. Thanks brother!
VERY HELPFUL. I had tried to replace the worn padding with Mr. Clean erasers- needless to say that did not work. Your instructions were easy to follow and very helpful, not to mention much appreciated. Thank you for sharing!
I was having the same problem with my Samsung washer. I did what you said and it worked great. Thank you much. It saved me alot of money. It was a great video.
Thanks great video. Saved me from buying a new machine. I used a noodle foam for the pool, only thing I had on hand after watching your video and so far so good.
Thanks for posting!! For weeks I pulled my hair out and bugged the crap out of my boyfriend. I had no problems for 2 1/2 years. I do like this machine. It washes twice as many clothes as my old machine. But after the last month or so, I was at my wits end and started yelling at my boyfriend. Then i searched samsung unbalance and wa laaa there was your video. You saved the night!! lol. We cut some old cushions up and we're back in business! I guess we'll get the rods but for now, we'll keep washing clothes thanks to you!!
Thanks for the vid! Did this 2 months ago, still works great! No wobbles and no balance errors. This method works well, just make sure not to stuff it full all the way down. Only need the extra roll top side.
thank you soooooo much for this video. I was about to take a sledgehammer to this machine..then I found this! My machine would spaz out and error code DC during the spin cycle, even when empty. I had a technician come out and tell me it would cost $400 minimum to fix. He actually just recommend that I trash this one and purchase a new one instead. Totally worth the 5 bucks I spent on a Target mattress pad (on sale!) and the slice in my finger (take caution when removing the top..it's razor sharp underneath). Thank you!!
I tried to regrease my tension rods, FAIL! I did what you did, I think my memory foam is a bit to firm, but so far it has worked!! I hope it stays that way. Washer bounces lightly on spin but not enough for me to worry about. Thank you!!
This same problem just started last week for me. I bought this washer at best buy two years ago and haven't had any issues until now. Going to give this foam padding fix a shot. Will update after. Thanks for posting this video!
I bought a small foam mattress topper from wall mart. I tore it into several pieces and put on all sides of the washer. It still shook violently all over the place and still get the DC error. We have been ringing our clothes out of the excess water the best we can and been putting them in the dryer wet. Wife is getting fed up with me not fixing it and I am going to give in and call a repair man. Not sure what else to do. I don't understand it. Everything is level. All bolts are tighten down. Load is always balanced. What a head ache...
+Sr90 I received my 4 rods today and only took 15-20min to install. Just ran a wash and perfect with zero problems. The following link helped me with the install. www.appliancepartspros.com/samsung-assy-damper-owm-dc97-16350c-ap5623264.html
Hey man, just wanted to thank you for the video! It helped me resolve my washer unbalance load issue for right now. I put some foam around the walls so there isn't much movement when spinning. God bless brother!
Samsung repairman just left, after replacing the damping rods at the four corners. I lucked out, as I had the "recall" service performed 11.5 months ago, and apparently, they give you a 1 year warranty on your washer when they do the recall service, so this didn't cost me anything, except waiting a month for the appointment. Once the rods were replaced, we ran a load, and it spun out perfectly! We haven't been able to get through a load of laundry without intervention for about 3 months. Oh happy day! We had been getting 8E1 errors on the display, and the machone sounded like it was going to explode.
Thanks Mike for putting this together. It worked for us as well. Ultimately I ended up replacing the parts that Jonathan Laman identified below. But the foam fix did the trick until the new parts arrived.
I wish I watched this before buying new suspension rods. I like your fix better. I'll keep in mind if this rod replacement doesn't work for sure. I shopped around though and found a set for $45 delivered.
We ended up cramming an entire king size comforter under the drum (thing that holds the clothes). It works awesome. Keeps it from bouncing around. You just have to make sure it is crammed in there really good to keep it from moving. No electronics down there so no risk of fire. I can now do a super heavy load of towels with no issues. We almost bought a new set - glad we didn't! Thanks for the video - your way of taking the machine apart was much easier than ours lol.
The damper, the white plastic at the end of the springs wear out over time. The springs start to resonate violently. There was another video which suggests to wrap a foam only around the springs to damp the vibration artificially. I have followed this suggestion and it did work for me two years. 5 minutes ago my wife asked me to check the washing machine again. This is why i'm here. I hope that adjusting the foam will do the trick, again.
Thanks! We are in the same boat with the AquaJet WA456DRHDSU. I used a pool noodle section halved and duct taped to the tub on the 4 sides. It worked for my spin cycle test but tripped the "dc" when I ran a full cycle. Looks like its 80$ worth of suspension rods now. Thanks anyway for showing how to get into the cabinet!
I didn’t do the foam but I did replace the down rods. So far, everything is working. Although I want to caution everyone that when lifting the top off, the edges are sharp! Be very careful or you will get cut.
You are definitely THE MAN!!! Thank you for the fix, works great . I'll still order the new stabilizers but you saved the day, and a lot of headaches!!!
Although this nor the pool noodles worked for me it did show me how to open the washer and for that I am thankful to you. I have a samsung washer wa5451anwxaa02. For all you ladies out there you can do it. I did it! I replaced all 4 Suspension Rods shown on this video with the following Mfr part #DC97-16350D or DC97-16350E. There are no guarantees that this is the cause of your problem but it worked for me.
I agree. I just did this myself. Skip the padding nonsense n go straight to replacing the suspension rods. It took like 30min n been working all day for me. I'll try n remember to post a 6 mo later review. Saved me $800 from buying a new washer. Suspension rods - $55 Lithium grease - $8
SOLUTION TO UNBALANCED LOAD (UE) ERROR: I also have had multiple problems with UE errors on my LG WT5101HW Top Loading washer. It is very similar to this Samsung model that is being discussed in the video. We had an LG service technician come out and he discovered the problem: If you tilt your washer back and look underneath, you will see a large nut attached to what is called the stator assembly (it makes the agitator and tub spin). The nut was VERY LOOSE and the whole assembly was hanging about one inch lower than it was supposed to. After tightening the nut, I have not had any more problems with UE errors on my LG washer. Hope this is helpful to someone out there! This might work for Samsung machines also
Thank you very much for sharing this video and it looks like a quick fix. We have the same issue on the same model of the washer. My mom went crazy cuz she couldn’t do her laundry. She’s been yelling and getting mad at everyone in the house. I hate to spend money buying a new washer, so I am going to try using to way to fix it.
Having same issue. But I did the foam as the video shows but when it goes into spin mode the washer shakes violently. Re-situated the foam several times and no luck. Tub is secure though with foam...any ideas?
Bought this washer for $50 from facebook marketplace, went home and yup it also had the violent shake when In spin cycle which I already knew since it was in the description when I bought it. The following day, I contacted Samsung support via chat and gave them the serial number and model and guess what?! It was still under warranty since there was a recall. They came over to my house and fixed it the proper way! FREE! and gave me a free 1 year warranty! WHAT!! Best $50 bucks I spent!
I bet my husband a back rub I could fix the washer with a mattress topper, followed a comment below and didn’t have to remove the top, just shoved pieces into the corners. Needless to say I can get my laundry done and end the night with getting a back rub! Thank you!
Two old rolled-up yoga mats in the front 2 corners and the thing works like a charm now! I ordered and received the 4 replacement rods but they are still sitting in the box until this "fix" stops working. Thanks for the info!
Bro that help out a lot! I was about to just go buy a new set because Sears said it would cost me over $1400 to just fix the problem but I have a big family and lots of laundry and this washer & dryer set is the only thing to be able to keep up with us, plus I like the set, and spent over $2000 for it when they first came out spent $900 on the motherboard for the dryer already but like I said I’ve had them when they first came out on the market!.... thanks again for the video we’re over here thinking I needed to spend even more $ on some new crap that’ll just break in a year when the warranty goes out
The correct way to fix this issue would be to replace the dampers (shocks) in each corner. If your washer goes off balance, you can test the dampers by pushing down on both sides of the tub at the same time. The tub should spring right back up if the dampers are good.
We had the same issue. I purchased all four rods, my daughter and I changed them in about and hour. Solved our problem. The rods totaled about $85. We just finished installing the new work around drain pump kit...not buying any more major Samsung appliances. I also have a Samsung fridge and the ice maker keeps giving us issues.
Excellent! thanks so much. I swapped out the foam pads for injection-type shipping foam (the kind that forms around the product), cut it to fit, and boom, no more unbalanced load. It didn't matter what we did, 4 t-shirts would send it into DC mode. Thanks!
Very good idea. I don't understand why the designer of this washer did not anticipate this issue. It is not an inexpensive machine and the type of vertical suspension rods are so cheap looking.
I bought a reg plain jane washer top load samsung. Uses HE detergents. It chimes at the end of each cycle. I love it! I had mine since April its going into August, no Problems!
YOU ARE THE MAN! THIS is the ONLY thing that works for the balance error - like a charm with our machine, a Samsung WA400. The only other issue "requiring surgery" was an extremely poorly designed and VERY WEAK drain pump bracket on the bottom of the tub, which we discarded (after it self-destructed) and completely reworked with our own steel straps. You have saved us some serious bucks, my friend. Thank you very much from my whole family.
SAMSUNG HAS A RECALL UPDATE FOR THIS . AFTER RECALL FIX BRINGS UNIT BACK IN WARRANTY 1 YR. DC CODE NEED NEW DAMPER. CALL SAMSUNG.AND SAMSUNG MOVE DRAIN FROM TUB TO BOTTOM
Good video. The 'rods' are actually dampeners and this may be likely the problem (weak springs, tension etc) I have the same problem right now... my mom is hysterical and since I'm an engineer that like to fix things I'm in the middle of this "Greek tragedy" Tomorrow I'll be calling bestbuy and see if the warranty is in force and if not I'm going to disassemble the machine and replace all 4 dampeners ($15 each) Thanks for the good idea.
I replace all 4 dampeners on my Samsung which Ive owned for 3 years and did not work. I bought the part at Amazon. Also I read that other people have purchased them from Samsung Part and still have same issues, not all but some. So its taking a risk on paying more with Samsung then Amazon.
great vid mate, we bought a washer and had the same problems. Im definitely doing the memory foam but im also going to try tightening the springs on the rods from the bottom. We have a Samsung WA5471ABP 14kg washer. Cheers from Australia
I did the repair , the same exact way you did I'm crossing my fingers here this my first load since it started giving me a dc error code ... that was like 2 weeks ago so thanks for the video .. and I'm really hoping it works just yours did.
thanks so much micheal ive been without a washer for months now due to the same problem .. thanks for the tip...and yup it sure beats buying a new washer
I was about to buy a new washer it was so annoying one day it worked one day it wouldn't this helped a great deal and no more problems as of yet anyways so glad I found this
You sir are a God send and a damn genius all rolled into one. Though mine is a slightly different model, it seems to have fixed my balancing problem as well. Probably saved me from divorce lol. Seriously though thanks for uploading this.
The pb is the spring rods !! Is like the car srings or chocs when there re finished is unbalanced ! I change the 4 spring rods easy to change and is like new now ! I didn t think that this was the pb because the stings looked ok but and i took a chance and that s it ! So happy !!!
Thanks man! This worked for me too! I only used the foam at the four locations where the existing pads were. It's only been three days, but I have washed full loads of laundry for the first time in a couple years!
Mike, Thanks for this video. I was looking for video on how to remove top to do just what you did with foam. My $200 washing machine I had for 15 years still working great at my brother in laws and this expensive POS I bought to replace it with is broke after 1 year. at least I am not bitter. Thanks again. I guess long term I will look into the rod/spring replacement.
Great fix! This can be done without taking out any screws! Thank you from a busy, frustrated mom that had to fight with the spin/drain cycle for a week to do every load of towels. It is funny because my teen age daughter had just decided she no longer wanted her 3" thick memory foam topper, so she tossed it into the living room just a day before I saw this post. After spending an hour watching my washer fail to spin out towels, and just keep filling up with water, I grab that twin mattress topper (my husband protesting my ruining a good topper) and cut a foot off the bottom, then cut it into fourths. Without removing any screws, I then just lifted the top loading door and pushed a piece down into each corner. I set the washer to spin and -- VOILA'. Thank You !!
Thanks for this idea and creating this video! You're a genius. These machines are the absolute WORST and horrible safety design. However you gave me the idea that I will use when I eventually purchase a washer when I get my own home.
Had a "cheap" washer and dryer set (NOT Samsung) for over 10 yrs never had issues with over loaded machine etc. Decided to get a nice set for our new house and it went to cr@p in a year thx Samsung-LOL side note: SAMSUNG has a recall on this washer, they will fix it for free or give you the value to replace it- check out their website. the tech has come out once and it did not fix the issue, I have an appt for second tech to replace other components. If this does not fix it, I am done with Samsung. I will update on what happens.
Currently standing in front of my washer watching my clothes get washed. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 this works thanks for the video. Ps if this doesn’t work I’m tossing this shit away time for a new one lol
Of course I thanked my friend. He fixes everything and is happy with a 6pk Corona.
Did you fix it? Also recalibrating it helps as well
So we bought this washer from a dude on Craigslist for 25 dollars.
Your testimony and that of others makes it pretty clear this is a structural issue
That’s not truly fixing it
Thank you !!! However, they know it can't be repaired or no one will pay over $500 to fix it.)
So I filled mine with foam and it worked for about 3 days.
+Peter LemonJello
Hi Peter, i'm currently experiencing same issue right now. Would like to know what are the part numbers you got (for the rod and spring) as well as the lithium grease. Also, where do you recommend to get them? Thanks!
Awesome video. Thanks for posting it. You saved me $ and made me my wife's hero again.
Received the rods Friday and grease Saturday. Going to attempt to replace in a bit. Crossing fingers!
groove269 any updates?? We are going nuts trying to fix this thing. Even replaced the whole clutch :/
Be sure and only use the lithium grease for the suspension rods. 😛
Hi Michael,
Thank you for that video - I used it for opening my Samsung washer . However, I have some small comments regarding opening the top panel: the tool used to push springs can scratch the front panel and it takes time finding the springs blindly. Therefore I used the following technique which worked for me:
1. I opened screws on the back as you have shown in the video
Regards,
Pavel Volkov may I ask where did you purchase the rods?

Followed this video and just fixed my washer for $7. Highly recommend this for anyone who is having the same problem
Thank you for posting this video. After trying your fix we are successfully washing laundry again. Twenty-minutes of "labor" and a $14.00 full-size memory foam pad from Walmart is all this took!
How long did this fix last?
SAMSUNG HAS A RECALL UPDATE FOR THIS . AFTER RECALL FIX BRINGS UNIT BACK IN WARRANTY 1 YR
Thank you. My washer had same code 6 months into using it. so I put it to the side and kept using the old one. Till the old one finally broke down. So I watched your video cut up some foam and it worked. Samsung had even refunded me the price of the washer so this fix is even better..thank again bud
Can not wait to do it this weekend. My washer has been giving me the blues for months. Wish I had seen this back when it started. Thanks!
Thanks in advance for updating us if your washer is still working 6 months later after you used the foam to fix it. ;)
Hi Michelle,
As of today, yes! It is still working. However, I would recommend using as dense of foam as possible and definitely duck taping the top so the foam stays in place. This summer it acted up but after a week of me fighting with the foam to stay in place, it seems like it is holding again. (crossing my fingers). Good luck to you guys!
Meghan
thank you so much for responding back and for the advice! I will try this tomorrow morning;)
GET YOUR RECALL ON WASHER AND GET EXTRA 1 YR WARRANTY
Thanks for the video! I too was about to buy a new machine. 2 days and spin cycle is working as it should. Thanks again......and a little shame on Samsung for not using more resilient material!
Thank you for the fix. I don't know how much time I have spent reloading and trying to balance this machine. Installed the foam and absolutely amazing.
Do you think 1 queen size of mattress pad good enough?
Finally a comment that makes sense :)
David, I just bought the parts (4) from AppliancePartsPros.com and they have an new Part #DC97-16350C. Looks like they may have improved once again.
Started having the same issue recently and doing my research to resolve this now.
I did the bed topper fix and added a pool noodle to the top. It's working so far. This is the best fix I've found. Great idea!
Is it still working
Thanks for the video! Did this today and so far 2 loads of laundry have finished without the dreaded "dc" code!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
I had the same issues with my Samsung. Came across your video and figured I would give it a try, and it worked. Spin cycle ran with no problem.
Thanks brother!
this padding method is much better than the suspension rod design!!
How long did the padding work? Did u have any problems down the road?
VERY HELPFUL. I had tried to replace the worn padding with Mr. Clean erasers- needless to say that did not work. Your instructions were easy to follow and very helpful, not to mention much appreciated. Thank you for sharing!
I was having the same problem with my Samsung washer. I did what you said and it worked great. Thank you much. It saved me alot of money. It was a great video.
I have a different problem, but your explanation of how to lift the top off and location of the screws and spring clips helped me. Thanks.
my husband added a pool noodle around the top and its PERFECT! THANKS!!!!
Cassandra Pearson thinking of pool noodle as well because the foam pad can light on fire faster I think
How many noodle did everyone use? Is it only one on top or all the way down
Is your washer still working,
Thanks great video.
How long did this fix last?
@@johnm.capers8280 Still in use today. No joke.
@@dxbell3 I'm about to do mines now.. Wish me luck
I just bought the exact same washer for $30 because "it was broken" Helluva deal! Thanks for the video!
thank you soooooo much for this video.
Rob Duckworth Update?
I bought a small foam mattress topper from wall mart. I tore it into several pieces and put on all sides of the washer. It still shook violently all over the place and still get the DC error. We have been ringing our clothes out of the excess water the best we can and been putting them in the dryer wet. Wife is getting fed up with me not fixing it and I am going to give in and call a repair man. Not sure what else to do. I don't understand it. Everything is level. All bolts are tighten down. Load is always balanced. What a head ache...

I received my 4 rods today and only took 15-20min to install.
Replaced the rods myself, which I found on amazon for $40, and it's worked great so far.
I replaced all 4 (suspension rods) on my Samsung washer and did not work for me.
I agree. I just did this myself. Skip the padding nonsense n go straight to replacing the suspension rods. It took like 30min n been working all day for me. I'll try n remember to post a 6 mo later review. Saved me $800 from buying a new washer.
Suspension rods - $55
Lithium grease - $8
SOLUTION TO UNBALANCED LOAD (UE) ERROR: I also have had multiple problems with UE errors on my LG WT5101HW Top Loading washer. It is very similar to this Samsung model that is being discussed in the video. We had an LG service technician come out and he discovered the problem:
If you tilt your washer back and look underneath, you will see a large nut attached to what is called the stator assembly (it makes the agitator and tub spin).
Thank you, I have been having this problem for over a year and then came across your post. It works!, thank you.
I'll have to try it. But my other problem is it doesn't fill up as it should. Water level never gets above about 3 or 4 inches. Any suggestions?
You are the man! Didn't have foam but had some old towels laying around. Did the trick! Thank you!
Thank you!
i wish that i never bought this machine! Thank you for the tips.
Me too...
Same. So disappointed after 10 years. Rusting out and giving me nothing but issues. Never buying Samsung washer itr dryer ever again.
@@Metalsman75 10 years is the new normal for a washer and dryer. They got to make their money.
Samsung washer fkg sucks. Always unbalanced when washing bedding. Every damn time.
I'd rather have the old units, last one I had I had it for 22 years. I'll never buy another digital machine. Straight trash
I'm going to try this out tonight if I can get to the store. This is a great a idea.
The dampers slow the tub vertically. If the dampers are bad the tub will spring up faster.
Thanks!
Update: the foam pad is still working great and we are washing clothes for seven people.
Do you feel that there's any danger of fire or any other issues that a person should worry about if they use this method? Thank you!!
Michael Fry thanks👍🏼
Thanks for sharing bro ! I shall give this a try when I get a day off work.
Fire was my first thought. Fix for a day ok. But please don’t leave it
@@piledriver141 what would cause a fire?
You are a genius!!! I tried wire hangers and it worked 1 time. I'll try this next. Thanks
Good video.
The 'rods' are actually dampeners and this may be likely the problem (weak springs, tension etc) I have the same problem right now... my mom is hysterical and since I'm an engineer that like to fix things I'm in the middle of this "Greek tragedy" Tomorrow I'll be calling bestbuy and see if the warranty is in force and if not I'm going to disassemble the machine and replace all 4 dampeners ($15 each)
Thanks for the good idea.
I replace all 4 dampeners on my Samsung which Ive owned for 3 years and did not work. I bought the part at Amazon. Also I read that other people have purchased them from Samsung Part and still have same issues, not all but some. So its taking a risk on paying more with Samsung then Amazon.
this video definitely saved my family a lot of money..Thank you so much..
great vid mate, we bought a washer and had the same problems.
I was about to buy a new washer it was so annoying one day it worked one day it wouldn't this helped a great deal and no more problems as of yet anyways so glad I found this
It worked!!! This might be a permanent solution but I still want to install Suspension dampers because it’s so easy.
Just did this! Currently leaning on the washer watching it do a load lol fingers crossed
Thanks for the video dude!!!!
I think it's a very good video and your illustration is excellent
buy the updated support rods !! what a crazy fix !
Thank you so very much. I have been having the same problem. Even took it to the shop but they didn't do anything!
Thanks man! This worked for me too! I only used the foam at the four locations where the existing pads were. It's only been three days, but I have washed full loads of laundry for the first time in a couple years!
How long did this fix last? I'm going through this now..
Mike, Thanks for this video. I was looking for video on how to remove top to do just what you did with foam. My $200 washing machine I had for 15 years still working great at my brother in laws and this expensive POS I bought to replace it with is broke after 1 year. at least I am not bitter. Thanks again. I guess long term I will look into the rod/spring replacement.
thank great video. though I was going to take the washer out for target practice. getting ready to try it.
Thanks , this worked great on my Samsung washer. I was about to purchase another washer before I seen this video.
Had a "cheap" washer and dryer set (NOT Samsung) for over 10 yrs never had issues with over loaded machine etc. Decided to get a nice set for our new house and it went to cr@p in a year thx Samsung-LOL
side note:
SAMSUNG has a recall on this washer, they will fix it for free or give you the value to replace it- check out their website. the tech has come out once and it did not fix the issue, I have an appt for second tech to replace other components. If this does not fix it, I am done with Samsung. I will update on what happens.
Currently standing in front of my washer watching my clothes get washed. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 this works thanks for the video. Ps if this doesn’t work I’m tossing this shit away time for a new one lol
Balance the legs on your machine. Problem solved! A wrench and a level. I felt so stupid after I figured this out! Enjoy
