    Wonderful video Drew. How about discussing what size jig heads to use in certain depth/conditions and how to tell what tide we are in once in the water. Thx for sharing.

    I've had some Egret's in that 'chicken on a chain' color tacked to my wall for a few months now while I finish off a bag of Cocahoe in a similar color. It wasn't until two nights ago that, after briefly passing my flashlight over them, that they actually glow in the dark. Blew my mind, given the number of times I've fallen asleep with them mere feet from my face.

    thanks for the walk through on color selection. I live in Corpus and fish the upper/lower Lagoona, Nueces Bay, Oso, and Port A/Aransas pass regularly And I have been struggling to land good size fish on soft plastic. thanks again.

    I can second the chicken on a chain color. Got that idea from drew.
    I was using live shrimp catching nothing. I switched to chicken on a chain with chartreuse tail...BAM! Trout bite was ON!!

    Being in very close proximity to Galveston & Freeport, most of my soft plastics are Dark Purple with Green Glitter, and Black with Red Glitter.

      Go for paddle tail soft lures. Literally just a slow retrieve is enough to excite trout and reds. The pop, pop, reel, pop pop reel method is good for soft baits without paddle tails

    I see chicken on a chain in the salt assassin brand, but it looks darker than the one you showed. May have been the lighting. Is that the right color? Looking for a cloudy day/stained water Color and what you described sounds like the right one.

    Thanks for the video. Just started saltwater fishing and caught my first Redfish on a Bass Assassin Morning Glory. This will definitely help me when purchasing new soft plastics. Watched another video where you keep Gulp baits in a HEB container. Do you keep other brands of soft plastics in the Gulp juice or only Gulp products? Just curious and trying to learn. Thanks in advance for your response.

I left my bait at home and couldnt be arsed to go back home. Saw these and thought hmmm cheap shit lol But I tell ya I'd hold them upto Gulp! And no Ive not got any connection to them lol Just an idea.

    hey buddy. , months ago , we caught up with some guys that had a bull red each, and they used the root beer gold with chartreuse tail. the 4 inch. have you used those before ? the new penny are similar but I think they are lighter than root beer gold .

  • @noobsmoke79
    @noobsmoke79 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks Drew! When you run Gulp shrimp under a popping cork, do you use a jig head or a non-weighted hook? And on your tandem rigs, are both your jig heads the same weight?

    • @RedfishHunter
      @RedfishHunter  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It depends on if I want my gulp to fall faster or have a slow drop in the water. Usually I use a weighted jig head. On tandem rigs the bottom one is weighted and the top one is not

    • @noobsmoke79
      @noobsmoke79 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Texas Redfish Hunter That's a good idea for the tandem rig, I'll have to try that this weekend if the weather cooperates! Thanks again for making these videos! It's very good of you to share your hard earned knowledge and experience with us googans - lol!

  • @MrTalmaguer
    @MrTalmaguer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Not to long ago I made my transition from bait to lures. I'm constantly changing lures till I find what works during the conditions I'm fishing. One thing I am having a problem with, is trying to figure out what separates stained water from dark water? Let's say... during day fishing whether sky is cloudy or sunny. Any suggestions on what's considered stained water?

    • @RedfishHunter
      @RedfishHunter  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      distance you can see through it is how I tell. Drop your lure down next to you and see how deep it goes before you can't see it anymore

    • @MrTalmaguer
      @MrTalmaguer 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Texas Redfish Hunter so in non clear water, how much visibility distance do you normally give it for you to consider it dirty or stained water? I guess that's what I was trying to ask in my original question.
