      Kalin - Believe what you want to believe, I would just say do the research and come up with your own decision on the matter. I am not trying to convert people but I think a blanket statement about them being ridiculous is in itself ridiculous. I did my research, chose my diet and have never felt better. The labs I had done at my last physical say that my overall health has indeed improved, and there is a lot of other research on the subject that says the same. There are also studies that say they don't work but I would look at who sponsored the research before drawing any conclusions from those.

    • @videogyar2
      @videogyar2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Not really, the video wasn't scripted well. It's true that every diet has negative health effects, but it does matter how many and how severe.(staying fat is probably the worst) Personally I think the best one is the paleo, but ideally you balance some of these to fit your needs. You need to do it step by step and set goals for yourself. If you stop losing weight you have to take more radical measures or if you have money ask for a nutritionist's opinion.
      For me the hardest part of the diet was not to give up desserts or alcohol and stuff like that, it's to actually buy the healthy food as they cost a lot more than the unhealthy ones.

There are a lot of positive possible health effects if done right (which is absurdly easy to learn). I myself did never struggle with too much weight, but my mental Focus became better and my Skin cleared up, since i started 3 years ago. A place to start for anyone interested: www.drmcdougall.com/

    • @jamesryan8738
      @jamesryan8738 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The main point in this video was that all diets have their merits but every 'strict' diet is flawed.
      You don't need a 'diet' to lose weight. If you're eating a lot and you know it, cut back and replace it with healthier options. If you're not exercising you're unlikely to get any results from any diet. If your diet has a dramatic and fast impact, it's likely to follow with a massive crash in your natural metabolism meaning you get super fat when you're older.
      The underlying point is that there is a more obvious solution than people make it out to be. No strict diet is needed, but taking their strengths and merits can aid you in making choices when it comes to how you eat. If you're looking to lose weight and are already on a diet, your best bet for a consistent weight loss that won't tank your metabolism is to eat normal stuff in lowerer quantities with all the stuff we know to eat. Throw in some vegies, some protein, some grains. If you ate red meat last night, you can gap out your next dish for a day or two. If you haven't eaten grains today, maybe through some extra grains in your cereal bowl in the morning in place of milk.
      There are no strict diets that work flawlessly. Fast results come with a trade off; your metabolism. Which is why he signed off saying find a balance, and once you start losing weight slowly stick with it and stay healthy. Exercise will obviously compound the effects of a healthy diet, and muscle gain will help chew up your food and keep you thinner.

    “Just stop eating”
    Aka anorexia and bulimia.
    Edit:
    I would like to make a few things clear, since many replies aren't understanding my meaning.
    1. This comment was not meant to be a joke. I take mental health and eating disorders very seriously, and would never joke about them. They are serious issues, especially today, and should not be joked about, as it can make people who have had to deal with these issues feel that their problem doesn't matter to anyone else.
    2. I know what bulimia is. Bulimia is an eating disorder in which you binge food and then force yourself to throw it up, making many of the calories consumed void, like you haven't eaten much at all. The point wasn't necessarily that you didn't put food in your mouth, but that many of the calories consumed were in one way or another disposed of before the body could use them as fuel.
    3. There was a comment that brought up intermittent fasting. This is different to an eating disorder because you still get the calories that you need in a day, and so while you can still loose weight from it, it's a healthy and safe alternative to developing an eating disorder. Please do note that with certain other medical issues, like diabetes, intermittent fasting may not work, and could even have serious detriments to your health. Also note that I am not a doctor, but have learned this from personal experience.
    I hope this edit clears a few things up, for those whining in the replies of this comment.

    different diets work for different people, people who don't do exercise are likely going to have the most success with the keto diet (mostly fats) or intermittent fasting (not eating any foods at all). While someone who does a lot of aerobic exercises (like running) likely will benefit from lots of carbs and someone who does a lot of anaerobic (weight lifting) will likely benefit from paleo or high protein diets. There is a constant debate usually between high carb v ketosis diets, but there shouldn't be a debate, to begin with. We need to focus on giving people diets that work for different needs rather than decide on one diet that everyone sticks to.

      @Firehazerd5444 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@skip_aj My bad. Like what what mix of fat, protein, sugar, carbs(and in turn calories)? For a standard keto diet you would have about 70% fat, 25%, and5% sugar and carbs of your daily intake. That percentage ratio definitely changes based on your height and weight. I downloaded an app to record these thing. I only kept at it for like a week or two. But it helped to get me a good idea of how much and what kind of food to eat.
      Why I ask is because when I started this diet I acctually gained weight. This was because I had the large amounts fat I had in combination with a decent amount of carbs didn't help. Having too much carbs with larger amount of fat can cause your body to release more insulin and in turn causes inlfation/weight gain. Also I snacked too much witch is something that you got to do less on the diet. Not assuming that this is why the diet didn't work with you. I'm just curious. After all this diet isnt perfect and different people will probably take the diet differently.

    1. Eat green veggies (try mostly uncooked)
    2. Intermittent Fasting helps. Which means atleast 16 hours of gap between dinner and breakfast.
    3. Skip rice, pasta, wheat, corn and all high glycemic index foods. Am not saying to skip all carbs, just skip the carbs that can spike the insulin.
    4. Eat healthy fats like omega-3 (avocado, many varieties of nuts, salmon)
    5. Ofcourse, eat meat but not much as we usually do not require as much proteins per day.
    6. Garlic,lemon, ginger, cloves, turmeric.
    7. Atleast 30 minutes of walk a day and 5-10 minutes of intense workout for every 2 or 3 days.

      The carbs you should eat should be healthy, non processed carbs, such as brown rice as whole wheat bread. These are much healthier than things like pasta and white rice.

      Many people intermittent fast by not eating breakfast or lunch and just eating more during around 4-10
      Breakfast isn't super important.
      Plus the reason I think intermittent fasting is so good sometimes is your cravings go away a little so you can control your diet better because you get to eat a good bit a of food in a short time but not overeat

    going vegan was the best thing I did for my body, first I gained 4 pounds cause I stopped restricting myself and I ate as much vegan food as I wanted and then my weight was slowly dropping and after I went full raw for 2 weeks I lost 8 pounds and now a year later I lost total of 20 pounds without even trying that much, I still have 10 more pounds to lose to get to my dream weight but I dont stress over it anymore and I know Ill get there eventually and as long as Im vegan the weight will not return.

Fruits and vegetables are low calorie foods, nutrient dense and have a high water content and you can eat more, fill full and you will still be losing weight even though you're not calorie restricting. Also your energy levels will go up! Good luck with your weight loss! ! ^-^

      Not really, being poor makes you decide what to buy at the supermarket basing your decision exclusively on price, that means buyng cheaper options for everything, aka choosing a lot if food full of fat and/or added sugars that makes food taste good even if the ingredients are low quality. It also means you buy a lot of bread/rice/pasta because it’s cheaper than meat/fish/fresh veggies. So you find your fridge full of high fat, high sugar, complex carbohydrates food snd have a lack of high quality protein, fibers and vitamin sources

      Triggered The "cruelty-free" part is heaps effective. It makes you feel good that your choice of diet is causing a minimalistic impact on animals and the environment. It really helps maintain a positive mood and a positive lifestyle! Veganism is a lot more than a diet, however.
      Carcasses are bland too, you just find them 'tasty' because of all the processing and chemicals. Some vegan food could be labelled 'bland', but it's all about how you prepare it, what herbs and spices you include, how you complement and combine the variety of tastes, and so on. There's tons of different dishes to be had - pizzas, pastas, wraps, salads, burgers, curries, many aspects of Indian and Asian cuisines. Keep an open mind about vegan food; don't be afraid to try something new, you may really end up liking it! :)

      Fat vegan here. You can't eat whatever you want and expect to be thin. When I was eating very simple (oatmeal and beans) twice a day and exercising everyday (4+ miles of walking) I could eat however much I wanted and be thin. But my metabolism isn't that great so maybe some could do what you are suggesting and get great results.

    GUYS IF YOU'RE SOMEONE WHO WAS OVER 80 KG LIKE ME HERE IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO START DOING:
    I used to be 85kg, that was 6 months ago. And currently i an 75kg. I lost 10 kg/22lbs. Here is what i did. Yes i did stop eating sweets, but i never stopped eating carbs. Carbs are important!! If you took health class in highschool, you will know why. But all you have to do is take out atleast half of what you would usually eat. For example, i used to eat 2 sandwhiches for lunch. I starter eating only 1 sanwhich and it helped. SMALL CHANGES CAN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCES. When it came to parties and there were sweets or chips. Just grab some chips, not too many. And for sweets, i just tried eating half of what they gave me or just try avoiding them. If you're someone who is REALLY low on self-esteem on your weight, just eat less. No need to stop eating, trust me. I did that and it was THE BIGGEST MISTAKE i have ever done. If you stop eating, your body will learn to keep more food and let out less.

      Good that it works for you but I think even eating half the amount won't work in the long run for lots of people because you leave the meal still hungry and later will probably overeat in some meals to compensate or eat much ofter to compensate. If you change what you eat and how much you exercise it will probably help more. And personally I think nobody should have to go hungry most of the time

    • @kahlangunning923
      @kahlangunning923 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      zakosist I learned the same thing. It's not about leaving it hungry. It's stopping when you're full. The only time to stop when still hungry is to let your stomach shrink to a normal size if you're legitimately overweight. It's probably the healthiest way to begin working toward good diets.

I stayed on the diet for a bout a month and was noticing changes, all I usually ate was fruits vegetables chicken beef and other stuff,I then accidentally forgot I was dieting and ate a sandwich then I got hooked to carbs,gained all my weight back plus 10 or so...😭😭, but I'm gonna do it again and try to stick to it, this video helps me to know what foods and what diets to go on, and I also learned that physical activity is important

    I would like to point out two things... 1) I designed sort of my version of a low-carb diet (my mother is a nutrionist) and lost 60lbs in 4 months. I merely cut out simple carbs, (I drank 23grams of sugar every time I worked out in the form of a canned iced tea), except the odd raw ear of corn as a snack, and put NO restrictions on higher carb root veggies like carrots. I was a little more conservative about beans but I ate chili every now and then in a decent portion size (1 to 1 1/2c), and in addition, I started walking. I started walking at a 1/2 mile a day and worked my way up to 5 miles a day, and some days I would go and swim or do treadmill at the local rec center for a change of pace. I wouldn't really count my daily carbs, and I ate tons more veggies than just huge amounts of red meats. I'm not a big fan of pork anyway, so I wan't binging on bacon or ribs or anything. Also, every now and then I'd just CRAVE pizza or bread or pasta to the point it would be something that would drive me absolutely nuts... So, I'd go eat it. (We're talking once a month or so, I'd eat two slices of pizza, or a cup of pasta). Worked wonders and I found it really sustainable for me, until I came to Canada where I couldn't find a lot of the sugar-free foods I'd come to rely on. (Sugar free chocolate cake mix+ Can of pumpkin = AMAZING CUPCAKES, by the way, for any kind of diet except gluten free, 200 calories and very low in carbs, relatively speaking) 2)The new weight watchers plan has veggies and fruits as 0 points, to encourage people to eat more of them, and an activity tracker and goals each week, to get people to also exercise, to get people moving. The points system is now based on calories, saturated fat, sugar, and protein content. It's not merely calorie restriction. That's what I do now and I've had success with it. I've lost 17 of the 30lbs I gained back after the move, in a month. (I have one of those metabolisms though, I lose weight pretty easily), and I still tend to choose not to eat simple carbs for my points, and go with more lean proteins, avoid cow's milk, (but I still love cheese, even a lower fat cheese is fine by me), and love a morning omelette. I still avoid white sugar.

      B12 actually comes from bacteria commonly found in soil and untreated water, so it is inherently vegan. Most livestock animals are actually supplemented B12 themselves as they are not able to graze and get B12 naturally (from soil.)

      Ck_house As long as it's respectful, I don't consider counterarguments to be rude.
      Farm animals are essentially removed from the food chain, so yeah, it's unlikely that they would be hunted. Livestock animals are proactively protected from predators. The USDA has killed millions of wild animals all for the sake of keeping livestock animals "safe."
      As for less animals existing; I'd view that as a good thing (especially if you consider the environment.) Quality of life is worth more than quantity of life. Breeding billions of animals into slavery is not a positive act. No-body commends puppy mills because of all the puppies they bring into the world, right?

    White tongue isn't the same thing as a yeast infection. White tongue happens when papillae become inflamed or don't shed their cells, and muck collects on the papillae. It is also known as furry tongue, and sometimes it causes black tongue. A yeast infection, or oral thrush, can also turn the tongue white, but it is not the condition known as white tongue. You are right that dehydration is one potential cause of white tongue, however.

    I lost a lot of weight recently by only consuming a diverse dinner (not really holding back on portions), 2 pieces/servings of fruit, and a shit ton of water (6-10 bottles of 0.5 liter) every day, while also running 3-5 times a week. Worked really well, especially in the beginning (I lost probably 2 kilo's a week for the first month) and now it consistently maintains my lower weight.
    Don't know if it's truly a healthy diet, but it worked.

    You do know that when you change your diet drastically without taking the shift correctly right? The dizziness, nausea, and head ache is usually caused by your body being unsure of how to cope. The Atkins diet (which I assume to be another name for the keto diet) is a perfect example of that. The keto flu, as most call it, is pretty natural actually and only if the symptoms continue longer than a couple weeks is it actually an issue. That's why people think the diet isn't working, because they try it for like 2 weeks and have a couple issues and then they just quit because they think it "isn't working".

    Dear vegans,
    Farmers pay the meat industry for manure to fertilize crops. No matter what you eat (unless you grow ALL of your food yourself) you are always going to contribute to the meat industry. To minimize cruelty be sure to buy ALL of your food locally. Local farmers don't usually have huge slaughterhouses and aren't as cruel. Eating meat is okay as long as it's local.

      there is no 'non cruel' way to kill an animal, going vegan minimises your cruelty not 'buying locally' (maybe not entirely but we are doing our best)

      MCRXISISTS meat is still a dead body if you think about it and milk is still from mom who needs to feed her baby calf, the point of a vegan diet is to avoid causing harm to other living things on this earth and to be healthiest you can and it's a fact that eating plant based is the healthiest diet to do, try and say you eat to many fruits and vegetables and once that is an issue then preach what you preach but there's really no argument here

      I beg to disagree. I personally think that meat is cruel no matter where it came from. But, YES OMG I'VE BEEN TRYING TO EXPLAIN THAT SHIT TO RADICAL VEGANS FOR AGES! I just do what i personally can to make a difference which i am proud of

      MCRXISISTS you know you can grow crops without using animals in the fertilizer, right? Do some more research on that. And buying from local free range and organic animal farms has been shown to actually be even more environmentally destructive than factory farms. Watch "cowspiracy".

      +ItsDarcey Its a bit like posting your political opinions on Facebook. Nobody give a shit, and constantly getting spammed with the same shit over and over again makes people stubborn and more likely to polarize to opposite of what your advocating for.

    This is an exceptional touch on some of the most popular diets out there, but theres much research that everyone should do on whatever one they are interested in. For me i only eat bleach and tipods and lose crazy amounts of weight, and blood.

    I've actually read from a great book that tests were held on hundreds of 100/100+ year olds and some of them didn't care about food,some were alcoholics,others cared about what they eat and moved a lot. So basically the one thing that was the same in their habits was that they ate in moderation, were more hungry than fed up so to say.
