Hope you guys enjoy this episode! We purposefully left it RAW and UN-CUT so you can see what actually happens here at the shop! If you guys/girls like this style of content, please like this comment and let us know!
Honestly watching them struggle was v satisfying haha, they always make everything look so effortless and easy to do... so this definitely validates the way I struggle with even tiny tings hahahaha
It was fun watching you guys wrestle with the front bearings. Don't forget to mention that you want to support the inner bearing race from below when pressing in the spindle from above. Lot's of diy'ers and even some mechanics will miss it. I saw you had a matching socket supporting the inner during the process, so good on you!
Love the uncut stuff. Brings back memories working on cars with friends. Especially with this car since I built a few back in the early 2000's. Including an SR swapped one. Wish I could just go work on something for a day with you guys.
THIS is the Throtl content I like. Raw. Uncut. Feels more involved and kinda personal. Don’t get me wrong, the newer style has been great, great cinematography, flashy, really professional. But, THIS, to me, is Throtl.
Loving the additional detail in the build. Moving from the excitement of getting a new car, to parts reveal, to wrap, to reveal gets a bit old. Like being able to follow the issues, and solutions. AND its like hanging out in the shop with you all. This is good.
Little advice if you cant get enough force through a slide hammer is to tie a chain to the weight and pull with that you will have more leverage and it adds some weight.
As much as I enjoy the on screen guys; shout-out to Throtl's customer service team 👌. I had an issue with a recent order (not on their part) and they fixed it quick 👍.
You two are just f'n fun as hell! Ricky...I love how you're terrified of the spring clip but all good putting your face inches from the press under tons of pressure, that's content baby!!
I was about say usually we just press out the spindle, but looking at the knuckle I see why you opted for this approach. Shop life is always fun when the vibes is right. 💯💯
What we used to do with moped crankshaft barrings, throw them in the freezer over night, and then heat up the block itself to drop them in basically. This stuff works like a charm!
Even my 1996 Honda Accord is the same way on how to replaces a stupid bearing . So annoying. So much work and hammering . But the 300zx is looking good . Good job guys. 😊😊😊
All of THIS, what we love to see. the actual work. the hard fucking work. the shit we all deal with on a day to day basis, it lets us know we arent alone. even though we always feel alone lol. respect! the results are worth the sacrifices.
You’re right most mechanics also struggle with stuff like this. Me being a master Nissan technician this is stuff I do every day so it gets cringy when I see things done weirdly lol. I’m sorry should have kept my mouth shut. Hope everyone has a great day 👍
it would have been awesome to have you guys team up with Z-Shack or Harry Sandu and build a monster VG30DETT and showcase a killer build. But i respect any quality build. its not too late lol.
Another tip for the slide hammer if its not moving, tie a t shirt/towel/tyre tow strap around the handle and whip it down instead of sliding it - creates more force, and saves smashing your hands 😂
@10:27, they need to make those shanks longer, you cant get enough momentum on that bittch, you get more exhaust trying to get energy out of that shallow stroke then if the bar was 1 foot longer.
I have been watching for a long time....and today the garage sounded like a garage, only thing missing on trying to get that wheel bearing of was a little fowl language....😂😂😂😂😂😂 👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🍺🍺🍺
niceeee, you guys got the good dif! not only na gearing. will be SICK in that 4 cyl platform. but it has the vented extended capacity cover, nissan had these smooth flush back covers that limited capacity and had zero cooling effect. the one you have is the sauce!. i always replace my smooth covers with the extended cooling covers. always!
At 0.27 "now that i finished banging out the old studs..." Giggity! Stud installers are much faster Ricky 💪 they also make a jig tool for the press that allows you to mount odd shaped things (like spindles) level. So many "giggity" moments in this video... Love it🏆💪
I like this format of video!! It’s not overly corny as they normally are (which I get, that is needed to get views) for the kids.. But stick with this simplified version of videos. Don’t “over style” this platform of car with cringy decals….make it OEM+ as far as exterior. Don’t put a cheap ass wing or fake replica wheels from your “sponsors” I get it..but you harm your reputation and aesthetics with cornball things like that. You’ll make the actual car enthusiasts gravitate towards your videos more..and you’ll build a core audience that you actually want and need in order to sustain your REPUTATION as real car guys..not TH-cam mechanics..
@17:18 that was frm someone bolting on spacers then cutting the studs cause hte wheels didnt have recessed pockets to hold the excess stud behind the face of the wheel.
Coming together nicely! I've always been a sucker for blue cars as well. Still wish you all would have kept the VG30, but I get it. It doesn't quite have the cult following of the SR20.
LOVE how this build is turning out. The gold subframe really gives it a WRX look. Wondering if the throtl garage has a preference though-would you rather work and build the z32 or take it back a decade and build an 80s z31?
Cool. I replaced 2 wheel bearings on a Kia forte a couple of months ago. Front wheel drive cars require some extra attention fasho. If it was a Subaru I’d have that job done in less than 15 minutes. I spent at least 2 weeks on that vehicle, outside on a hot summer afternoon on jack stands. I had to rent a bearing puller & installer from oreillys, and I also ad to cut the outer race of the bearing because it was stuck inside of the steering knuckle. Of course it was my sisters car so I didn’t charge any labor. I’ve replaced motors and transmissions in a day lol so that should explain how tough that job was. Hahaha it was fun though 😅 she was happy because I saved her at least $800.
While trying to get the bearing out, you want to heat the spindle/hub so it expands . You heat the bearing like that you expand the bearing. The heat helps loosen the grease which helped, but wrong method still.

I love it uncut and raw like this i'm a fan of this for sure 🔥 good job guys
Yup! Let’s see more content like this!
Personally really enjoy seeing the uncut footage. It’s nice to see some of the thought process behind decisions and of course all the shit talking lol
Love this stuff uncut. Makes me feel less bad about my own work. HAHA
Yeah boys this was dope. So chilled, such a nice vibe. Great decompress after a day in the office.
Quinn and Ricky are so entertaining! This was a blast to watch!
Next new "buddy cop" duo right here, haha
Quinn and rickie are absolute gems. they hold this whole channel on their backs.
I love the uncut stuff. Wrenching is a struggle sometimes and I think it’s more genuine to show what that actually looks like!!
Honestly watching them struggle was v satisfying haha, they always make everything look so effortless and easy to do... so this definitely validates the way I struggle with even tiny tings hahahaha
i thought this portrayed working on a car very accurately because you never know when you're gonna be working on the same damn thing for 16 hours lmao
The dynamic duo 😅 That part when Quinn knocking out the studs like a baseball bat was hilarious!

Did anyone else really enjoy the vlog type video instead of the more production type videos?
THIS is the Throtl content I like. Raw. Uncut. Feels more involved and kinda personal. Don’t get me wrong, the newer style has been great, great cinematography, flashy, really professional. But, THIS, to me, is Throtl.

Y’all had me dying the whole time, I love the duo of Quinn and Ricky I swear🤣🙌 and this part 17:57 🤣🤣
I so love this dynamic-duo. Such fan working together.
These guys should get the new Honda prelude when it comes out.
These guys should get snap ring pliers
I LOVE THIS NEW VIDEO FORMAT! KEEP POSTING THESE VIDEOS!
I could watch them work together and be silly with no cuts, no music just them being them together. They are awesome!!
The car struggles are more satisfying than quick cuts of pure success
I LOVED watching ricky and quin bicker and banter the whole time for sure one of my favourite videos you guys have ever produced
Little advice if you cant get enough force through a slide hammer is to tie a chain to the weight and pull with that you will have more leverage and it adds some weight.
Man oh man, 300zx dreamer and lover and it only continues to amaze me how she looks. Excited for everything coming.
Give Ricky a raise for sure. Dude, it is my fav to watch on the show, and you can tell he knows how to do everything. He is also very entertaining.
love the actual footage of hard labor. shows how much work is put into these cars.
Really good to to see the real struggle that goes on when we work on cars, so few channels show this side of it.
Oh the slide hammer torture reminds me of pulling the right front CV shaft on my Lexus. 100000% nightmare! Props on the build!
I love watching quinn and ricky working together. Its so funny😂
As much as I enjoy the on screen guys; shout-out to Throtl's customer service team 👌. I had an issue with a recent order (not on their part) and they fixed it quick 👍.
This style of video is A+, please continue this format
17:56 the Quinn & Ricky comparison is crazy!!! let’s start their 😂😂😂
Love the chemistry of you guys :D also brings me back to my mechanic days watching you guys having a tough time with the bearings. I feel you
You two are just f'n fun as hell! Ricky...I love how you're terrified of the spring clip but all good putting your face inches from the press under tons of pressure, that's content baby!!
I was about say usually we just press out the spindle, but looking at the knuckle I see why you opted for this approach. Shop life is always fun when the vibes is right. 💯💯
love that you saved this car
What we used to do with moped crankshaft barrings, throw them in the freezer over night, and then heat up the block itself to drop them in basically.
This stuff works like a charm!
It’s nice to see how Quinn and Ricky tackle actual mechanic problems 👌
As someone who has replace the wheel bearing on a Z32 and R32, I feel your pain. Great watch!!!
This is definitely one of my favourite episodes. Luv this type of content 👍 great job guys
11:22 yooo Quin chill homie
most of the time science beats hard work. Good job to Ricky for using the blow torch.
Honestly seeing them struggle with the snap ring gave me the same vibes as that scene in Talladega Nights with the knives🤣
Top 5 best cars this channel has covered. VERY awesome!
This is the build that Ricky and Quin have had extensive use of a hammer XD they are banging their way through this restauration, literally.
🤣
@5:18, its only an upper ball joint socket. it is exactly like the lower ball joint socket you already took apart.
I love the energy you guys have! Car is looking awsome
These are some of the best videos. Just nothing but wrenching!
You’re right most mechanics also struggle with stuff like this. Me being a master Nissan technician this is stuff I do every day so it gets cringy when I see things done weirdly lol. I’m sorry should have kept my mouth shut. Hope everyone has a great day 👍
I didn't realize that 2 minutes of Quinn and Ricky fighting that snap-ring was something I needed in my life 🤣
it would have been awesome to have you guys team up with Z-Shack or Harry Sandu and build a monster VG30DETT and showcase a killer build. But i respect any quality build. its not too late lol.
Great video love the humor of Quinn and Rickie. Car coming along can’t wait for the motor to be built by Quinn! Keep it up guys with the great videos
So what your telling me is…. It’s a normal (quinn, ricky) shop when they are not edited. Such a relief. Lmao.
Building our 300zx part 6!!!
the whole video rickey and quin- DING DING DONG DONG BANG BANG!!! BOOM !!!
Ricky and Quinn are the best pairing on TH-cam!
you can remove the front wheel hub with a hydraulic press. the slide hammer is made for the rear wheel bearings that are bolted on
Love some uncut footage of Quinn and Ricky. They went hard on those bearings and Ricky laughs like the joker lmao love this conent!
Love this more in depth content! Quinn and Ricky what a duo man 😂
Another tip for the slide hammer if its not moving, tie a t shirt/towel/tyre tow strap around the handle and whip it down instead of sliding it - creates more force, and saves smashing your hands 😂
the orange and blue color scheme is sick and looks so good
@10:27, they need to make those shanks longer, you cant get enough momentum on that bittch, you get more exhaust trying to get energy out of that shallow stroke then if the bar was 1 foot longer.
I have been watching for a long time....and today the garage sounded like a garage, only thing missing on trying to get that wheel bearing of was a little fowl language....😂😂😂😂😂😂 👍👍👍🏴🏴🏴🍺🍺🍺
lol @ 22:58 "we ain't got no motors Ted". When they are actually putting in an sr20 (which will pull a premium at race wars obv)
Best channel on TH-cam! Love watching the bromance Ricky and Quinn has, lol.
It’s soo satisfying seeing this z32 get restored.
3:39 same reaction when doing that motion
These two never fail to make me laugh, beautiful work guys
I love Ricky. His random gagging while Quinn tried to remove that snap ring had me rolling! 😂
Nice to see them struggling a lil bit. It's so realistic. It happens to all of us.
Definitely enjoy the more raw editing of this video!
honestly them struggling and figuring it out was very entertaining!
niceeee, you guys got the good dif! not only na gearing. will be SICK in that 4 cyl platform. but it has the vented extended capacity cover, nissan had these smooth flush back covers that limited capacity and had zero cooling effect. the one you have is the sauce!. i always replace my smooth covers with the extended cooling covers. always!

I think the punch focuses all the energy into the point, which makes sense it would make it easier 😂
Instead of filing the old sleeve down, I learned to cut a line through the old one, so it has some give when you press the new one.
You guys need some snap ring pliers.
300ZX build part 6 - Hammer Time
LOVE how this build is turning out. The gold subframe really gives it a WRX look.
Wondering if the throtl garage has a preference though-would you rather work and build the z32 or take it back a decade and build an 80s z31?
Thank the heavens above... I've been waiting for this build
Those chrome oem wheels are super gangster wish I had the chromes on mine
Tip put the barrings in the freezer before fitting it makes them a lot easier to press in.
My neighbor has a slide hammer with excercise plates he welded together. I think it's like 50-70 lbs and it's... effective
11:24 Quinn switching to a more familiar motion 😃
Cool. I replaced 2 wheel bearings on a Kia forte a couple of months ago. Front wheel drive cars require some extra attention fasho. If it was a Subaru I’d have that job done in less than 15 minutes. I would have thought you guys would have a comprehensive set of SNAP RING PLIERS!
Car is coming to together, color looks great.
This is the best content. I want to see the finished ZX, let’s go…!!!
The innuendo is strong in this episode
The pinch rails dont normally get damaged by curb. Normally they get damaged by people who dont know how to lift the car correctly.
The duo is crazy!!
You guys should do a build where you use a 240 subframe or a different type of car’s suspension
Please wear eye 👁️ protection 🤓!! Color looks amazing.
I have been waiting years for this build
Glad you guys are doing this....Z32 never gets love....hope you make it powerful enough to move that big body around lol
$300ZX is coming along nicely...👌🏽
I never thought I would enjoy watching wheel bearing removal as much as I did
Ricky and Quinn is just like father and son working on cars...😅😅😅
You guys ever heard of a pair of snap ring pliers? 😂 all those fancy tools 🛠️ ⚒️ 🧰
