In this episode we're covering the first weapon in the shotgun category - the Olympia.
The Olympia is a double-barreled shotgun, and is part of one of the default classes, so you'll be able to use it right from the start.
The Olympia was marketed as the Rottweil Olympia '72. Rottweil is a German brand, owned by Dynamit Nobel - but the weapon itself was produced under license by Italian arms manufacturer, Fratelli Gamba Armi.
It was made in 1972, with the 'Olympia' moniker likely applying to the Olympic games which took place in Munich that year.
The Olympia has two barrels, in an over-and-under configuration - and a bead sight on the bore axis near the muzzle.
A thoroughbred sporting shotgun, the Olympia is designed for skeet shooting - and although not intended for use in combat, takes on the role with aplomb in Black Ops.
There's no magazine to speak of, but two barrels mean two chambered rounds - reloading is done via a break-barrel and the two spent cartridges are automatically extracted.
The weapon fires 12 gauge shotgun cartridges, most likely double-aught buck in-game.
The Olympia is a high-damage shotgun, on par with the Stakeout - and the fact that it's double-barreled means you can get the two shots off relatively quickly compared to the pump-action.
One hit kills are common, and two will finish off most within your effective range.
Be warned that outside of this range your pellets will have no effect - so using a shotgun from middle range out is an entirely fruitless pursuit.
Spread is relatively high compared to the other shotguns, and recoil tends upwards - although given the spread and low capacity, recoil isn't a major factor at all as far as accuracy is concerned.
Your mobility and aim speed are quick with the shotguns - just 200 milliseconds to aim down the sight, the same as an SMG.
The reload is painfully slow, however - taking between 3 and 4 seconds to complete. With just two rounds chambered before you need to reload, you've really got to make every shot count with this weapon.
You do, however, need to remain mobile when using the shotguns - you can't expect to camp in a high-traffic corner for an entire game without the enemy getting wise to your tactic.
Every move you do make should be carefully considered - Spy Planes are essential for watching enemy movements, and positioning yourself accordingly. The pace of the game you play should vary as suits the situation - move quickly through open areas, slowly sweep through interiors, and don't be afraid to come to a complete halt if you're expecting an offensive push through a doorway or other chokepoint.
Corners can be a very effective tool. Use them to control the range of engagement - the angles you expose should be those best suited to your weapon. Lure aggressive enemies around them to give them a buckshot surprise, and duck back around the corner to reload and prepare for the next wave.
Charging in is usually suicide unless you're certain of an enemy's position - an SMG is a lot more forgiving up close than a shotgun. The shotguns work best as a direct counter to both aggressive and defensive opponents.
In counter-offensive usage, you need to anticipate enemy movements and position yourself to strike unseen from behind or the side. When playing against enemies adopting a more defensive tack, covertly moving behind them and clearing out defenders under a counter spy plane or jammer can work very well.
The Olympia boasts overwhelming firepower up close - the high damage and two quick shots you can unleash make it tough to beat within its effective range.
The Stakeout has the superior capacity and tighter spread, but the Olympia will kill a single opponent quicker in most cases.
The major downside is the lack of versatility - unlike the SMGs, the shotguns are totally impotent outside of their effective range, which forces you to adopt very particular tactics.
The Olympia's paltry two round capacity can also hamper your effectiveness, but Sleight of Hand, your sidearm, grenades, and the knife can all help fill the gap.
If you do your job right, the enemy will never see you coming - nor will they have any idea where you'll strike from next.
Watching this makes me miss old school COD games. No flash, no sky jumping and wall running, just plain fun and gun skill
Jeffrey Crosby Yea but those games had unbalanced multiplayer. Like overpowered weapons or perks.
Still better then some ludicrous space battle. In my opinion...
roger amaya shit no
I hate exos but unbalanced weapons are the worst
That's why I like bo games
Jeffrey Crosby "sky jumping" is fun, you just gotta be good at it :) plus the ttk is slower in the jetpack games, so you could argue that it takes more gun skill than past cods.
I'm wondering if these will make a comeback with cod ww2
Just to mention, this guide was made when the game was still very new.
Since patch 1.06, enemies will not enter second chance if killed with a shotgun (both removing the "bane" of it and giving shotguns a slight edge over SMGs).
+dimb9 true, but its still pretty helpful
Nice Info
thank youXD for the info
Is it a bad idea to ADS on shotguns
I know that your comment is 6 months old, but both yes and no.
With Steady Aim, it is bad to aim and it's better to hip fire.
But for a tighter spread, insuring a one-hit-kill, you should aim.
Hope that this helped! 😀
I love Ahoy's bbc-like voice and "formal" English. The typical Brit humor is the cherry on top. Yet alas, due to imaginary weapons of later COD titles, tis' a sad farewell to these history lessons.
Some are fictional, but they usually come from a real source :3
+Sai Kisaragi none of the guns ingame is fictional
Simon Wissel I mean in the later games that take place in the future~
+Sai Kisaragi aaaah thats true
I know right?
Just bought the Olympia
What does "fetch me their souls" mean?
*this post was made by the M14 Gang*
Dogs are coming you noob
M14 users on round 5 be like: "Why arent they dying anymore?"

Round be like Rat Att Tatt....
Brought 2 U by KSP .45 gang
But the Olympia is one of the best guns for dogs...
Loved using this weapon. A challenge to use well but that's what made it so fun.
+Allen Bitzer same here
IKR gotta love adding a spice to the fight
This and the stakeout always threw me for a loop... On which one is my favorite!
Nah people die without dispute only sometimes it glitches and takes 3 shots
I played this game extensively. I had fun exploring all the weapons. I found the Olympia to be among the more exciting choices because to be a success you couldn't reely on the under over alone. In depth review. I felt like I was learning how to use this weapon all over again seeing this segment. Entertaining to watch. Good job.
Anti camping class
Weapons:
Olympia
Dual Pythons
Perks:
Flak Jacket pro
SOH pro
Hacker pro
Frag grenade, Flashbang, and c4
That class is trash and you should feel bad.
+Charlie WithaQ I detect large amounts of sodium.

im watching this 9 years later and i have learned how to crusade efficiently
if you are still on this channel, thank you
@LexusFlono The lesser-used weapons are invariably more interesting than the popular ones. And besides, everyone has their own favourites - for some the Olympia might be their weapon of choice, and I'd hate to skip over it just because the majority want to see the 74u and G11.
I'm still coming back to these guides after all these years because they are so well made. This is what i would call high quality content.
@TheMightySepehr Post-patch I can definitely see Ninja being more useful. You need to get very close with the shotguns, and anything you can do to minimise detection behind enemy lines is useful.
I'll admit Hacker is great against claymores and motion sensors, though. It's a good alternative.
By far one of my favourite guns in Black ops! got over 1600kills with it!
True beast
You are good with literally every gun!
*every cod
*every FPS
@@raulphilipgoco403
*Every game.
I don't take the cautious approach when I use this weapon, this happens to be my favorite primary weapon in the game and I like to use flack jacket pro, steady aim pro, and tactical mask pro or marathon pro. a combination of flack jacket and steady aim, if you know what you are doing you are a walking tank. the third perk will just determine how you want to approach enclosed rooms.
The Chad Olympia VS The Virgin M14
lmao
The chad WaW double barreled shotgun VS the virgin Olympia
@@WarVeteran213 yes
@@WarVeteran213 The chad olympia vs the virgin 725
tough to use but so rewarding
My favorite perks for this gun Is scavenger pro, slight of hand pro and marathon pro. These three perks keep me alive for a while.
@xBiSxOvErDoSeD 'Side by side' and 'over and under' are both double-barreled shotgun configurations.
Shotguns should've been secondaries even more than they were in MW2 in this game. They were so underpowered, barely anyone used them if they really wanted to win.
I love how the tone of your voice changed when you said "the reload time is painfully slow however" EPIC!
M14 Gang for life😈🤘
WOAH THERE YOU STEPPED IN THE OLYMPIAN TERRITORY
#M14FORLIFE
BadLuckTaco you dare to tread on the territory of your worst enemies and mock them
I loved the m14
M14 was a 2 shot kill bro u are a god if u have a trigger finger
i miss the old ahoy...... here in 2018
A double barrel can never do you wrong
I love your one liners at the end of your videos. For this one I was thinking something like this:
"But with the Olympia's unmatched power, you hold....the wrath of the Gods."
Ah, the Olympia. A hilariously powerful weapon.
The waw double barrel is better regular or sawed off
Hilarious indeed
This shotgun information is useful for pretty much any game. Some really good information here.
the ground zero for the 725.
@ultraprime501 I wouldn't recommend it. You need all the help you can get with the shotguns, and Ghost is too good to pass up.
3:40 you evil sod! I hope you said sorry to the guy controlling the RC-XD.
y should he #screwrcxds
+devmap mp_Trini I always feel bad when I steal kills.
+TheUKNutter i never saw someone rage from stealing their kill, have you?
devmap mp_Trini Yes I have
Always thought this gun should’ve been a secondary. Maybe would’ve gotten more love in multiplayer
I love the difference in Stu's voice if you compare this video to the HS-10's.
Compare it to his voice in his COD: Ghosts videos or his very first ever video, the M4A1 from MW2. It's fun.
The Olympia is considered to be underrated. However it’s actually very reliable like the stoner 63
4:27 Made me dying from that emblem
Salute to you, sir, for trying your best to pitch the Olympia as a usable gun.
OLYMPIA G4NG

No
One of my favorite guns in this game.
M14 niggas go down on round 3 of zombies and be like "I was trying to get a headshot."
I had a bad idea of the Olympia because of Black OPS 2 Zombies, but I used it on Black OPS the other day and it's awesome, it's my shotgun of choice now.
"For you grenades I would recommend the semtex"
(Does not apply to xcal)
I loved how if you pack a punched the olympia, you would get dragon's breath rounds. IT WAS SOOOOOO COOL!
It was just a visual effect. The flames that burned zombies didn't do any damage over time or have special properties.
Thats it.. Im going back to 360.
Belinda Boonzaaier it's backwards compatible
@XboxAhoy I've seen a few of these already, the HK-21, Enfield, M16, and now this. I have to say these are some of the best, most comprehensive, most detailed weapon tips and strategies I've ever seen period. No wonder many of these are being posted on the Call of Duty wiki site. I hope you make some for Killzone 3.
we all kno0w this is the best cod :>
It's unbelievable how xboxahoy manages to make every gun sound awesome, especially the Olympia.

M14 GANG RISE UP
I must say sir, I saw your video on the skorpion on the Black Ops wiki and immediately subscribed to your channel. You are spectacular at this.
MY CAPS LOCK IS STUCK
SAME HERE, IT IS FOREVER IRREVERSIBLE.

Just hold shift to not type in caps when caps lock is on
I know you're joking but still

Buckshot is a term used to describe pellets packed into a shotgun shell. It is unlike a bullet that is a hunk of metal designed to penetrate a target. Buckshot is "designed" to scatter small pellets which increases the chances of something being hit while decreasing the power of the shot. This is why shotguns with buckshot are not effective at long range (not many pellets will hit a faraway target) and are very effective up close (lots of pellets hitting and vaporising a close range target).
I can only play with Spas and HS10 on PC, becouse i'm suck with Olympia and Stakeout becouse most weapons in BO are semi or fully automatic and enemies have unfair higher ROF :/
Thank you for these guides i followed ur MW2 ones and went from 12-16 for example to 40-12 ur very in depth and it defintly helps players know the guns in and outs before just goin out and gettin owned then complaining about it
Impotent
Adopt
I see what you did there :3
wat
devmap mp_Trini It's an infertility joke
eh still don't get it
When a guy can't "Get it up", he needs to adopt a kid instead
:)
This is my favorite Shotgun in Black Ops.
this guy makes every gun look amazing
watching these vids in 2021 and their still entertaining and informative, good work Ahoy (2021 gang)
@vasman5000 Maybe, if it's any good. I have my doubts, though.
i love this man, you're a very smart guy, and your voice is what adds some of my interest.
I'm a big fan of using the Olympia in small maps. I use steady aim and lightweight. Pretty much two automatic close quarter kills and then I switch to the ballistic knife to wade in deep. Fun as hell, frustrating to the enemy, and makes me feel close to my native american heritage.
This guy makes all the weapons seem amazing
Incredible quality of Video, GJ man.
ive spent like 2 hours watching these videos today. great videos
Well done sir. It's challenging to use sometimes because its unforgiving. But that's why the gun is so badass. If you don't kill with those two shells (which can happen frequently), you will lose the element of surprise and rely on your pistol to finish off your enemy. Don't get me wrong though. This gun can wreak havoc if you ambush enemies at popular chokepoints, have the right perk setup and good map knowledge so you can flank enemies.
This is the video that introduced me to xboxahoy
I'm so glad they made it to where shotguns negate second chance. Makes running and gunning with Olympia that much sweeter.
@xBiSxOvErDoSeD There are two barrels, no?
@XboxAhoy yes that is why im saying that this configuration is typically called an over and under and the side by side is typically called a double barrel
3:38 I think the guy controlling that RC-XD fell into serious rage.
2 things we need in 2021: BO1 remastered and this style of videos.
it actually was carefully considered. Although it may seem like he's exposing himself, if you look at the mini map you'll see that the majority of his enemies are inside the building to the left. Plus, all his team mates are on the right, and so he has no worries of enemies shooting from him there.
He makes the olympia seem beastly, he has managed the impossible
i love the Olympia, it's my fav of all the shotguns.
olympia is defiantly an underated shot gun. i think that it (in some cases) should be up to par with 74u famas commando 47 etc.
One of cod's legendary weapons
it amazes me how he makes every gun look gun, even the ballistic knife
This is now officially my favorite shotgun. I get killed too many times when the Stakeout gives me hitmarkers.
Its so underrated. I just recently started using it and I find it very effective. But tomahawk instead of semtex. It's like and extra bullet
Everyone bashed this weapon, it was such a beast if you knew how to use it properly. Such a great, balanced weapon
Olympia, dual skorpions, and asp made Black Ops such a good game.
i love this man, you're a very smart guy, and your voice is what adds some of my interest. I'll sub and like your vids, and very bright. when i watch these it makes it seem like your in the military sort-of.
Ur voice sounds like the survivor man how informative it sounds and all that
I like to rock the python acog at mid to long distances with a shotgun. With the 2 hit kill its like having an assault gun on your secondary and that ACOG increases this distance and allows for headshots left and right.
Even though you stress the downsides to the Olympia, your voice and presentation are awesome and make me want to use the gun anyway, lol
Anyone else noticed that the Olympia shoots dragon's breath rounds? They seem to be only cosmetic effect tho. No other shotgun in the game shoot these kind of rounds.
The endings are awesome.
I'm using shotguns only for my entire 3rd prestige! the Olympia is my fav shotgun so far, i like it better than the stakeout
My favorite thing is that he tell which perk to use.... AND why. Most other weapons guides don't tell why
He gives great advice, good tactical advice.
These videos are absolutely genius
i love this man, you're a very smart guy, and your voice is what adds some of my interest. I'll sub and like your vids, and very bright.
I love my double barrel Olympia! Especially in Zombies I can use the Olympia till round 15 and the Hades is a hard on.
This gun may not be good for combat but it's bloody amazing for home defense
i prefer to use this thing as a BOOMSTICK! Here's my loadout
Olympia
Crossbow (for that guy thats far away and won't leave you alone)
Tomahawk (helps during reload)
Concussion Grenades
claymore (to set up traps whenever you know someone is coming after you)
Scavenger Pro (get equipment back)
Sleight of Hand pro
Marathon Pro (help get up close)
I Like Lightweight Pro and marathon pro as my first and third perks, I find the jump surprise and extra speed is a great tool for this gun but this works too.
You basically sound like a younger Captain Price. Excellent voicework.
My loadout is Olympia cz with suppresser and frag with concussion grenades ghost pro steady aim pro and ninja 👌🏼🐐🙌🏼
@Awesomenizzleness The jammer is like a mini-counter spyplane. If an enemy is within the radius, their radar fuzzes out, so they wont see you on the radar when you fire. Farther away enemies that are not affected by the jammer will still see you.
Olympia Tips: ALWAYS AIM DOWN SIGHTS. Use Motion Sensors, as situation and enemy positions are key. Counter-Spyplane is highly reccomended, as it compensates for the lack of silencer, and keeps the enemy in the dark to your position after firing to avoid two on one fights. It also helps allies as well. Spyplane is reccomended for area awareness, and also helps allies, Blackbird for the same reason.Hacker shows their realitive position due to gear placement, as well as avoiding indoor claymores.
