Hi, i have a xl850 thermostat that i cant update. I have the file in a usb but when i plug the usb to the micro usb to usb adapter the XL850 doesn't recognize anything. Any tips on how to make that work? The file i have only has the .tar extension without the .gz. I'm pretty sure that maybe the usb has to be formatted in a especific way or especific size but i don't know what else to try i bought 3 different usb devices and i can't get it to read the file. Thanks

Same model number but unit is different. New thermostat and it's not working. Horrible. .trane .is Horrible.
Do not buy this. It's too hard to work or use. Get something simple.
