So the blue & red sections if I set blue at 73 and red at 69 and set the system to auto does that mean it will keep the temp between 73 and 69?
on my thermostat when you go to heating mode there is no cooling mode. what's that supposed to do ?

My 824 consistently overshoots the set point by 2 degrees and after the thermometer lag catches up 10-15 minutes later the overshoot is 4 degrees.
Hi Ron. Unfortunately, with the limited information and without being able to see it in person, there is not a whole lot that we can recommend as the issue can be caused by various things. We would recommend that you call a service technician as there are many settings that could be changed accidentally and cause further issues. Some of the issues that may be causing your issue are the thermostat may be overshooting due to a delay and it cannot sense the temperature quickly enough, or if there is more than one unit in the home, the other unit could be affecting it as well. Do you live in the Las Vegas area? If so, we would be happy to help you with your issue. If not, maybe we can help recommend someone in your area.
Most likely it’s a humidity setting. If the humidity is high it will go into a overcool mode to drop the humidity. It can be turned off
I need help to program, nothing works.
Have this unit and it is completely blank right now I have check circuit breaker and main fuse in air handler but not seem to make this work does this unit have batteries in that might need changed please any help would be greatly apricated
Try this...
• Turn the power off either using a circuit breaker or fuse box
• Remove the security screw at the bottom of the thermostat
• Grab top and bottom of the thermostat mounted on the wall(control plate)
• Pull it off the wall gently
• It will reveal the batteries on the backside.
• Remove each battery one by one careful not to damage the terminals or thermostat
• Grab the batteries
• Get some fresh batteries(Triple AAA) insert them in the battery slots
• Pay attention to the staggered terminals (anode and cathode) indicated by the + and - sign when replacing the batteries.
• Put the thermostat back to the wall careful to make it fit as before
• Press the “Configure” button at the back of the control head. A wrench-shaped icon will appear on the display.
I have this problem going on that nobody seems to be able to solve. during the day and night, whenever the heating starts, first, cold air comes out of the vents until the house is cooler by 2 degrees. only then, the actual heat comes out from the vents. this is driving me crazy as it is very uncomfortable when it is cold outside. any idea how I can unprogram this "cold air" blowing?
It could be due to the age of the equipment but likely just cold air getting initially pushed out of the duct upon start up. The fact that it soon goes away leads me to go with that, but I would call your local HVAC company if you need someone to come out and help.
Can you tell me how I unlock my screen. I locked it with a password, now I can't figure out how to unlock it.

It shouldn’t matter if it's in “cool”, “heat”, or “auto”. Set the fan to “on”. The only time it should cool (or heat) is if the requested temp at the stat is not satisfied. For example, if you set it to “cool” and the space temperature is 75 degrees, if I didn’t want cooling to be called I would have to place the temperature requested at the stat higher than the space (above 75). If the temp at the stat is set below actual space temp cooling will be engaged.
Hi, i have a xl850 thermostat that i cant update. I have the file in a usb but when i plug the usb to the micro usb to usb adapter the XL850 doesn't recognize anything. Any tips on how to make that work? The file i have only has the .tar extension without the .gz. I'm pretty sure that maybe the usb has to be formatted in a especific way or especific size but i don't know what else to try i bought 3 different usb devices and i can't get it to read the file. Thanks
