    Tested the top super-nakeds a week ago,,...KTM 1290r is tall (I'm 6foot..183cm) on/off throttle and tends to surge under 80/90kmh... powerful with good suspension and brakes/great handling...the speed triple r was comfy, good all-round bike but suspension pretty stiff and lacked the excitement of the others ....I expected to love the Aprilia 1100 Tuono- it made a great noise and was powerful/great handling but lowish handlebars and high pegs--- also tended to surge at lower speeds and had a very on/off throttle-definitely a great track bike....BMW S1000R....fluid power, perfect ergos for me, magic DDC suspension, great brakes and handling...so easy to be quick and confident on it...bought it...in red:)

    Thank you for this review. I got my 2016 3 weeks ago. Agree on the seat (it's hard, but your bum is in normal shape in seconds after getting up), agree on the turn circle (thought that was me) and I fully agree on the power (massive) and the cruise control (makes it even more comfortable on stints on the highway). It's not cheap, but with the Akra it's one of the best sounding bikes out there. Killing the throttle is addictive. Good review!

    Liking your review, good job !
    Ordered mine yesterday from Bahnstormer in Alton, 7-10 days time she will be mine, in red as well.
    Lots of mods to put on in time...mirrors have to go followed by the brake/clutch levers. Akra slip on looks so much better than stock but so expensive for little a difference in sound due to massive cat conv.
    thx mate

    Very nice review with some good tech related explanations. Now you need to go and test ride the S1000RR, seeing as you're a super sport fan :-) When I rode the S1000R it reminded me of a more refined and more powerful STR. I loved the electronic suspension.

    • @TheRampantRider
      @TheRampantRider  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TripleTorque Ta! Now that's a good suggestion! Yeah I agree very refined, having a STR yourself you probably compare the two better, seems so long ago I rode that RX. :)

    Had one out on a BMW day at Boxhill. Slightly cramped seating position and silly vibration through the bars and pegs ruled it out a daily commuter for me. That said, awesome power and handling would make it a great toy.

    I've got a 2014 in the same specification including color that I ride around San Diego. This is a wonderful machine that inspires confidence, the cruise control is a bit weird to get used to, but once you are so it is handy to use for boring Freeway runs. Nice review I think you got most of the details right. You should try it in "Dynamic" mode with firm suspension on the right road.......I liken this machine to a 911 or M3 on two wheels.

    So, which one would you pick the BMWS1000R or Daytona 675R for street and canyon riding mainly?
    Thank you

    • @TheRampantRider
      @TheRampantRider  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      E.S. Slc considering there's no canyons where I live can't advise. But for general street the BMW is a nippy light bike with huge power, but theres also something about that triple noise!

    That's my commute home over the downs...on my XR., Shame the video doesn't really show how twisty and tight some of those sections are.
    As for ride by wire, I've had both types and can't say I notice any real difference in interaction with the throttle, its just that the responsiveness varies depending on the mode you are in ...and you get used to that.

    Insurance for me for Honda CB650F £130.For S1000R £600.Having ridden the bike do you think this difference is justified?

    • @TheRampantRider
      @TheRampantRider  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not a bad quote there. My quotes we're kicking out £1k+ ! All depends what sort of riding you do and what you like to get from a bike. But in terms of insurance it's not bad considering the high group it's in!

    • @TheRampantRider
      @TheRampantRider  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Andrés Padilla Haven't ridden the Speed if that's what you;re referring to? If it's the Street Triple or the BMW it would be a hard choice, two bikes in two different leagues, but for the road most likely the Street Triple.

  • @knut761
    @knut761 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I want a wired throttle for the feel and for the security it offers (also, I like to interact with the bike, same thing with a car which is why a manual is a must for me) I'm an analogue guy anyway and "hate" this digital stuff both in bikes and cars. Aside from the digital tech stuff the bike sure looks like a great choice. Thanks for sharing great review I liked it.

      Eric, I have had a ‘17 for just one two years and 34,000km. The electronic throttle is just superb, and as good as prior analogue bikes I have owned.

      good question. Both bikes are brilliant but for day to day road use which is what I do most of the time, I'd probably say the Triple as the power is much more road friendly.
