TacMoto Good on you for actually doing some research on the bike you're reviewing, and bringing a cheat sheet with specs. It's so annoying seeing youtubers who want to do bike reviews and want to be taken seriously, but go to rides completely unprepared. Keep it up. Subbed!
I love the quickshifter on mine.
My shift light is set to 10,000 RPM. Your demo bike might now have had its first service yet, so the red line is limited to 9,000 RPM (if memory serves). I picked up a Wunderlich Touring screen for mine, and it makes a huge difference and looks good on the bike; it looks like a stock part, actually. Glad you enjoyed it. If you want to take mine for a rip, let me know.
I have had this bike since the last 3 months. Done about 3000 miles. I still watch reviews of the bike just to listen to other people say how awesome and sexy this bike is 😉!!
... Also, it is weird that in Canada, they accompany you it seems on the test ride. I've had loads of different bikes on test rides and never heard of being accompanied.
Hey buddy, didn't know if you realised that S1000R you rode was a 2015 model as the 2016 model has a dark panel under the tank and not a grey one like the bike you rode, apart from that it's the same bike as the 2016 model. Anyway great bike and I love mine the more I ride it 👍

Great review. This bike is on the short list. any chance you can do a review of all the 1000 nakeds after you test the kawi.
Do you think the handling of the BMW was aided by the tyres?
My S1000R has Super corsers on which are amazing but the FZ10 only has old last gen S20's which are pretty poor.

I will be getting the 2017 or maybe 16 if they discount it a little as my next bike.
Tuono would be nice but there is no dealer support where I live, so that could be a potential headache later down the road.
But I can see myself enjoying the S1000R. Thank you for the great review.

I'm torn between this and the KTM 1290 Super Duke......both bikes are amazing!!!
S1000R more for long twisty roads, track, commuting, touring.
SD1290 more for mountain ride short turns, u turns, moto touring...
Both bikes are crazy good...I would give a bit edge to S1000R due to the all equipment that you get for the buck.
U should look in to the Tuono from 2017 - sick and new benchmark for all naked bikes.
Lol. I am thinking two months about the same crazy head crushing thing. There is also some street enduro versions of these both beasts: GT and SR versions with the same engines, so all journeys could be with all brutal power and comfortable. I am almost mad about it! MAAAAD! But i think that 1290 have a little more image... that dangerous orange hornet.

What was the wind push on your head/chest approaching 130-140kph? Plus how tall are you to put it into perspective.

I am curious to know if the leg position on the single R is the same as the RR. Is the leg on the Single R more forward than the RR?

you will forget all about other bikes,

the gas ratings are probably ones from europe. they only use ron... or mon i cant remember. but anyways in canada we use an average of the two ratings so it usually reads lower. best gas in canada is shell 91 then chevron 94. in bc anyways. thought this would help.
S1000R is mapped on EUR95, RON95.
+David Dewael in bc anyway, chevron 94 has a RON rating of 98 and shell 91 has a RON rating of 99. so your not losing power on our gas at all

Marvelous bike but still, why the cruise control?
For touring, of course. I have a 2015 s1000r that I also use for short weekend trips. It's handy to have the CC when you're just pounding the pavement on your way to the fun stuff. I will never buy another bike without CC.

If you mean the Quickshifter yes it is an optional extra on the 2016. In 2017 the Quickshifter is referred to as HP Shift Assistant Pro, that allows for clutchless up- and down-shifting (bi-directional), is now available as an option on the S 1000 R. The same system works flawlessly on the S1000RR.
