    Fight or flight itself as a primitive term. The better term is “self preservation mode“. This could mean a multitude of things for different people. For example, an artistic child who has found comfort in rocking back-and-forth and hitting his head, because it distracts him from the pain of a smell, his self-preservation mode will go into this rocking. He doesn’t fight or fly. There is fight or flight or freeze but there really is a whole bell curve of other responses. The point is you go on self-preservation mode as a reflex
