Not really, you're running into laws of physics where there isn't enough voltage coming out of the battery to produce the rf wattage out. "More" probably, but not great. I don't think it will do any damage (but I'm not that kind of expert). @@temporarilyoffline That sounds good. Similar to the bootable SD card for a Pi-star hotspot. That gave me the drive to build several hotspots. I did play with the raspberry pi for a while but I found it frustrating when installing programs that most of the time didn't work because the writer of the program assumed you knew more than you did and for example didn't include the missing pieces. Plus, unless I did it all the time I would forget all the statements/commands that could be several lines before the program would work. I found the raspberry pi great for doing a single task. It was reliable and cheap vs. tying up a Windows laptop/Desktop.
Can you be like the ECM dude, and people just send their units to be customized? Now that you have really cracked the top 5 mods: open tx, firm updates, getting in to the Linux, de-particlate the screen layers, retrieving update or version swap via sd card... The screen graphics need some fun. Of course anything but the green blue priority hue, flipping colors of specific sprites or backgrounds, a screensaver, skins, like a HW-101 rig face for example, on the display or ect, make it play Tetris or Etchisketch. Also, play any mp3s or whatever format of music on an sd card mounted. How much space does it even have?
That's great! Always a great job! I'm still trying to figure out why sometimes the power output goes to 0 and I have to reboot it to have back my 10 watts.

However with the external power source I get 10w everywhere. This does not make sense since it does not seems to be a radio problem nor a battery issue.
Can you give a step by step how to get to your beginning screen to start the mod process. I have found different videos and it all starts from about same screen but you dont mention and say how to get to that. For some of us we need a step by step. For instance on Putty SSH program what do you do to login in to even begin seeing the radio
i have manage to get to the point of changing it from where you change it from disable to enable. From there i cant get to the botttom of the page to finish up to restart like you mention to write the new change. You dont mention or say how you do that you just do it. I have been trying to get to that last little step past couple hours and i am about to throw the damn thing out the window

Anyone else getting transmit reports that you sound tinny and very narrow sounding on your transmit? And the internal mic is even worse apparently ….. any ideas why??
There are a lot of mic settings. The internal speaker is very tiny. Listen to yourself on a websdr to help tune your TX audio, try an external speaker and see if it sounds better.
Hello. Have you tried how it receives and transmits on AM and FM? I just received the equipment and I have opened it for the CB27 band and when I use FM they receive me well but I receive with a lot of distortion and in AM they neither receive me well nor do I receive well. I love Esraradio but it does very strange things. Thank you.
No Xiegu code is a available. In future videos you can do the mars mod with a configuration file change, and in even more future videos, we have a complete working Linux distro running on the radio. This is a great playground!
I would find someone who knows what they are doing and pay for their service. I am not the type who can get in there and change values within the firmware.

Also tried via DEV port but on 2 different PC, neither will load the drivers for the COM ports, tried loading CH340 manually but still will not recognize / show a driver for these 2 ports. All audio and others loaded but not the 2 COM ports. I do not have or know about the Pi method but feel this would not work either if PC will not recognize the COM ports... What am I missing???
@@temporarilyoffline After much more digging, I found the issue is the serial chip is really a CH342 and the newest CH343 drive is needed to provide full functions to both COM ports on DEV access. Now a simple terminal connected to the lowest COM port number eliminates the need for Pi and Terminal Emulation. HOWEVER, after 20211227002 Firmware, the extra files are NOT their anymore and the MOD can NOT be done now....
I would love to have bootable loads via the SD card. One for Winlink, WSJTX, FreeDV, etc. Basically, one SD card for each mode so I just have to boot the radio and instant Winlink machine complete with Radio.

X6100 with November 2022 firmware works very well and there is much less noise.

I can do that in the future, sure. The internal storage in mine is 16GB, but you can plug in flash drives and SD cards to add to it.

We've seen this. Does your battery show 0.0 and your waterfall is dead? If so, just press (not hold) the power button to wake up the software.

This radio does do very strange things. If you want to hear how you sound, tune to a matching frequency on a websdr and CQ call yourself ;-)

Write software to run an RTTY BBS completely on the unit. Or whatever digital protocol -- but it runs the BBS completely on the X6100.
