Some fun shortcuts. 1) tar has mandatory flags so you don't need to specify the "-". 2) If the extension specifies the format (like tar.gz or tgz), you can skip the z flag. The command becomes: tar xf file. You've made your life 2 characters more efficient! :)

@@temporarilyoffline well I guess I have to now! Haven't messed with the wifi on it so I'll need to get that going, I wonder if my type c hub with an Ethernet port built in would work? Only one way to find out!

/etc/resolv.conf is auto filled out when you use DHCP to fill to obtain the IP Address from your network. So generally, connecting to your WiFi network will net you a resolve.conf from your local network. Doesn't hurt to check it.

I think there is a bug in this radio's "front panel" IP config wizard. I can only get mine working manually from the command line.

It's a fun radio, you can learn along with us on TOADs discord or you could just play radio with it.

The idea of the x6100 is good but it has huge flaws. It generates noise signals all over the place. On 40 meter almost ever 1 to 5 k hz it has its own signals! I don't care what price above $50 it's just not worth it. There is no way xeigu will be able to fix it, if they had the ability they would have already. Something as serious as self generated signals right over the top of crowded ham bands.

you in are HUGELY exaggerating any problems the X6100 has, it's a perfectly usable, good in priced radio..you want it to perform like an Icom? Then pay TWICE the price and buy the Icom 🤷🙄🤦
