  • Fitting A New Steering Pump & VCDS Coding To My Copart Salvage Audi A1
    I Cant believe how far the project has come along from when we first started.
    The end is finally insight & I can't wait. Just tying up a few loose ends
    The Project is slowly breaking me I needed a break to recover but I'm back & ready to crack on & get this project finished.
    This is where all your hard work either pays off or not.
    Finally, the project car is starting to take some shape.
    The cost of Audi A1 parts is ridiculous & slowing down the project. Let's see how far I can get today?
    I'm investing in the project. After all, this is what the channel is all about saving those cars from the scrap yard.

    It worked! 2012 Seat Ibiza 1,6 TDI.
    Power Steering pump replaced by previous owner but never coded to the car, which is why the power steering light was on. The pump must have been from a car with the g250 sensor (right connector on pump)

    Mate go into options on vcds you can adjust the screen size so we can see it better thanks.

    With regards to your open circuit - check the earthing locations making sure there's no rust etc, if that's all clear with the engine running unplug the connectors and using a multi meter test the plug pins to see if the current is flowing and at what amount, then keep the positive connected to the plug and the negative to the body if you get the same reading on all affected sensors then that points to something else, the only other thing you could try and that would be to snip the earth wire and make a new one to a known good earthing point just to rule that out, should the last bit fix your issue then your earth wire has damage and isn't conducting the known correct values

      My A1's thick red has full volts and brown has good ground but the 3 wires and only one of them has current in it rest 2 do not. After front crash my steering is rock hard

    Have you checked the o2 sensor heating circuit itself on the sensor itself with a multimeter for continuity ,usually the two white wires on most sensors is the heater wires

    I often get Earth faults on lambda sensors especially after a front smash. Just replace the sensors. They can easily get damaged but nothing visible.

      I would love to change them fella but they are £100+ each 😪 I haven't used a multimeter yet going to try that first hopefully I can spot a easy repair... thanks for watching buddy I really appreciate it 👍.

      @@RevivingSalvage I’ve never bought a new one. Can’t speak for VAG ones, but Fiat 500 secondhand ones are plentiful on eBay.

    Why is it whinning like that when u changed the pump ? Is it normal to whine when u are turning the steering wheel? Is your steering heavy ?

    ****OPEN CIRCUIT FAULT***Hi mate check fuse sc2 on fuse carrier ST3 RED its a + feed to the o2 heater circiut and j496 relay. It should be located on the dash side panel when you open the drivers door

      It will probably work but you will have a amber warning light on the dash for a steering fault, it needs to be coded to the car

    Howzit. Battling with a pump for Polo6 GTI. Got the car without pump. Question how many connectors should the pump have? And coding code?

      The pump should have 3 connections standard with the polo pumps same as Audi a1

    I have a red warning light «steering defective» after changing the pump on my A8 D4. Pump work fine tho… i did not note the old soft code… what do I do now??

      If you still have the old one perhaps you could plug it back in and make a note of the code, if not then you might need to get someone to code it into the car for you,

    There are three wiring plugs on the pump, but you only connected two ?

      There's only two on my Audi a1 the third has a blanking plug that goes on it

    Hi mate, excellent job. Can you please help me and advise how did you diagnose that the pump is faulty ? I have a1 and its steering is hard as rock and light on the dash. I dunno if the pump is working or not after the crash. Pls advise

      Sounds like it's not working... there is a fuse under the bonnet for the steering pump check that first... this normally blows before replacing anything.

    Presumably if you get a pump from the same spec (engine or trim) the coding would be the same?

    the code is meant to be 11250, how come you used 11251?

      they are coded to the car and they are all different, I've had people use the code from my car and its worked for them. Yours might be slightly different

      @@RevivingSalvagemy apologies good sir, i was meant to delete this comment but i forgot to, after watching this video last night, i did some digging on the net and came to know that 11250 is mostly used on vw and 11251 is used mostly on Audi's but the biggest difference was the last number of the code, which is connected to the "steering rack type"..0 = 1N2 (Which is for my VW Polo 6R) and the 1 = 1N4 which is used on this specific Audi model.

    Sir my polo 1.9 TDI 2005 model has the same pump but one of my connectors on the side the wire broke off pretty bad to a point I cannot mend it together, what is that name of that part and where can I buy a replacement part

      I've changed mine & it does have a slight noise but nothing like it was.
      Check the fluid level would be my advice first & see if it helps 😉

    Wouldn't it have been easier, to have taken off the wheel .?? Give you more room .?? .

    I have vw polo pump changed but works intermittently. The old pump was taken away and how would you code new pump because i believe that is the reason why it is not working

    I've got vw polo 2014 the truning signals all and the. BRaking lights don't work in diagnosis it comes up that the turn signal and braking lights there is short in sercuite I remove the lights chek them and the fusis it's OK but nothing get fix is there solution

    Hey, nice video, I own an Audi A1 2012 and have been experiencing a heavy steering wheel for some time now specially at low speeds. The mechanic diagnosed it as pump failure and replaced it, but the issue is not really resolved and no one has a clue what it could be. Do you have any idea or could it be a coding issue? they have coded the sensor to value 6

      Sorry only now saw this, it sounds like the pump hasn't been coded to the car and the mechanic has just changed the pump. Did you manage to solve the problem?

    Hiya pal, fitted second hand pump to my mk2 skoda fabia. (Same pump and system) light wont go off and power steering works now but seems lazy? Do i need it coded with a vag diagnostic/laptop? Thanks in advance 👌

      For the light to go out it will need to be coded. It might also make a difference to the performance of the pump.

      If you plug in the old pump and note down the code ... use that code to overwrite the new pump ... that should work

      If you had a new one it might need coding to the car? The car doesn't recognise the new pump. Or if the battery has been taken off then that would make the light come on aswell & just need to do a wheel detection where you turn the front wheels full lock one way then the other so the computer knows where the wheels are positioned. Hope that helps

    Your pump isn't new, so the procedure to code it is different.
