Hey Edmunds... You still don't know how to win more definitely. You should do N battery preconditioning->DRAG MODE ON. Then you can get the best performance in short distances. And turn it on in N Padal setting. Use 3rd gear. Then you can get more powerful braking. And press NGB button when starting off, and press NGB button again right after cornering. NGB button works best at low motor RPMs. Then you can use the full power.
You'll find every video with a drag race with the Ioniq 5N they never pre conditions the battery for drag racing or use the NGB at the start or anywhere in between

I5N is great. Hyundai 5 seats all round family suv beats bmw M4 !!! I know the ceramic breaks are great but too expensive for normal drivers. I5N doesn't need it as it has 0.6G regenerative breaking. More to come.. Ioniq6N and Magma...etc.. Can't wait to see them.
Dude did u even watch the stats shown? It was a RWD m4 not the xDrive. This rwd m4 almost won while doing 0-60 in 3.7 sec as shown on vid. The xdrive does it in 2.8.sec.. so it's a massive disadvantage for the m4 in a drag race being rwd vs AWD. Everyone knows the xdrive m4 would of easily beat it

If you really want to talk about the brake, you should have driven Taycan or Plaid instead of 5 N. At least for now, 5 N is the ONLY EV that can full on race nurburgring nordschleife for TWO laps in a row and even some more without any brake and battery fail. Also just recently, one stock 5 N and two 5 N TA spec did a new record run on Pikes Peak International Hill Climb as well. Of course, there is no chance that the brake gets cooked by just a couple of drag races, so please stop lying.
Not sure why they put a rearwheel drive M4 against an AWD EV. The Xdrive version of the M4 is a completely different beast. If they wanted an accurate comparison they should have used an Xdrive M4.

The Xdrive version of the M4 puts up slightly faster and at worst same 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile times as the Ioniq 5 N. As close as this race was with the RWD M4, no one with a brain can say the Xdrive version has no chance.... They should have used an Xdrive M4 Comp.

I really, really like the Ioniq 5N, though the range (or lack thereof) makes it a no-go for me personally. But it could have won by 10 seconds and it loses every time for me as soon as you hear that M4 rev.
Ioniq 5N won by its straight line acceleration but the u-turn clearly demonstrated that this elephant-like thing is by no means the best turner in the world.
Hyundai could never be compared with a BMW even now. Nothing special here. Every cheap Chinese EV could do the same nowadays. Moreover, that M4 isn't the X drive with 525hp. It is still a cheap crappy Hyundai.

640hp and AWD vs 510hp and RWD. Why? I'm surprised the race was even that close. A better race would have been against an M5 competition, at least power output is in the same ballpark and both are AWD.
The bmw used , the producers did not clearly state they used a rear wheel drive version of the m4. The x drive m4 time on the leaderboards smoked the Ionic
One thing I learned long ago is speed does not always equal, or replace having fun. The fun factor M2, M3, and M4 offer, especially with a manual gear box is absolutely irreplaceable, especially against soulless EV’s.
the good thing about the I5N or any E-Perf after a track race, no worries about maintenance. I bet the M4 had some warning lights light up after this little run

The heat killed the M4 power and boosted the 5N. That’s what’s cool with EVs is that the better/hotter the weather is the quicker they get, which is completely the opposite with ICE cars

The M4 comp with xdrive does 0 to 60 in 3.0 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 11 flat. That is faster than the numbers this N put out in the video.... the EV Hyundai fan boys need to do some research before jumping to conclusions. They should have used the Xdrive version. Then all of this back and forth would be pointless because we would know the answer.

Bmw all day for me, the 5N is impressive but not much of a value really almost 70k before taxes and in the long run. Plus it sure looks like its under braked and understeered, don't look like it has the stability it should.
First the hyundai braked too late. Then the BMW braked too early. Shouldve also had an AWD M4 up there. If they launch that evenly the AWD version would jump out in front and by the time the hyundai caught up it would be time to brake.

Ikr, the regen is so strong, unless you’re going to be hard braking into a super tight hairpin, the regen will account for most of the braking force.

The only reason why it even looked like a possibility for the BMW is due to driver error on the Hyundai's behalf.

How about u look at the leaderboards at the end of the vid. it wasn't the m4 xdrive version. The xdrive would of won. The xdrive 0-60 is 2.8 sec and the RWD in this vid got 3.7 .. so it's a massive difference. If u see the leaderboard at the end of the vid the m3 comp xdrive that they ran is in 9th place beating the 5N time that got 12th. The m4 xdrive as shown in vids is a little faster then the sedan m3. All this video showed was the m4 had better brakes and lost due to being the RWD version. U guys didnt even mention once these facts. Thats quite annoying.

Thanks to the German Albert Biermann. He was previously the boss at M BMW, then moved to Hyundai in 2015. There he developed the high-performance models, such as the I30N, I20N, Kia Stinger, and so on. Now he is the head of development at Hyundai/Kia.
A lot of German engineers and designers then also moved to Hyundai.
They were also one of the first investors in Rimac. So they can use their know-how and brains for tweaking.
Actually Biermann leaved Hyundai in 2020.😅

I really, really like the Ioniq 5N, though the range (or lack thereof) makes it a no-go for me personally. But it could have won by 10 seconds and it loses every time for me as soon as you hear that M4 rev.
Pit them against one another on a road racing (e.g, Lime Rock, CT) for a dozen or so laps and see which one wins.
You don't by fast cars for their range. Even gas guzzlers can't go far if they really guzzle gas.
If you get ten seconds of boost, why do you ask keep using the button with less than ten seconds available in the race?
Ioniq 5N won by its straight line acceleration but the u-turn clearly demonstrated that this elephant-like thing is by no means the best turner in the world.

640hp and AWD vs 510hp and RWD. Why? I'm surprised the race was even that close. A better race would have been against an M5 competition, at least power output is in the same ballpark and both are AWD.

One thing I learned long ago is speed does not always equal, or replace having fun. The fun factor M2, M3, and M4 offer, especially with a manual gear box is absolutely irreplaceable, especially against soulless EV’s.

That was an excellent race and a lot closer than I thought. I'm proud of the M4 Comp.
What struck me was the price as tested. M4 was $111k, Iioniq 5N was $67k.
It's amazing how quickly Hyundai has advanced their vehicles since the Excel back in the 1980's. 11.1 1/4-mile and also hitting higher top speed than the M4 on the return is just amazing.

The heat killed the M4 power and boosted the 5N. That’s what’s cool with EVs is that the better/hotter the weather is the quicker they get, which is completely the opposite with ICE cars

The M4 comp with xdrive does 0 to 60 in 3.0 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 11 flat. That is faster than the numbers this N put out in the video.... the EV Hyundai fan boys need to do some research before jumping to conclusions. They should have used the Xdrive version. Then all of this back and forth would be pointless because we would know the answer.

On the first race the Hyundai driver made a terrible turn, but was still able to pull him back in, be that should have been a lot bigger margin in the first race for the Hyundai.

Bmw all day for me, the 5N is impressive but not much of a value really almost 70k before taxes and in the long run. Plus it sure looks like its under braked and understeered, don't look like it has the stability it should.
Plus resale value; at the end of the day it is still a Hyundai.

First the hyundai braked too late. Then the BMW braked too early. Shouldve also had an AWD M4 up there. If they launch that evenly the AWD version would jump out in front and by the time the hyundai caught up it would be time to brake.
