    Again a great video of maintenance and repairing.
    I like the way you are doing those repairs.
    Now I have bought a Stanley MaxSteel adjustable one-wrench
    in Germany called "Engländer". 🙂🚲👍

    Hey another great video thank you. This is definitely useful for those just getting into older bikes, and what is needed to be addressed on a older bike. Love this bike colour is sharp. Cheers

    More good stuff, but went by a bit fast in spots. BB, headset and brake installations, plus axle check, useful and well judged. Appreciate how you clean and restore parts instead of throwing on the bling. That's Monkeyshred!

    Netter use some anti-lock compound on that bottom bracket or else you’ll be in for a surprise next time you go to take it off,

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the bolt. Not the BB itself.

    "Friction fit" 🤣
    Some more grease stops the square taper from potentially seizing up in there. - wouldn't it?
    Grease makes it easier for the crank to slide on the taper, too. Make sure to slide them on fully, otherwise they won't be able to transfer the torque over a large enough part of the contact area (and start to creak) and wear out over time.

    Great vid thanks :-) front derailleurs however, are instruments of the devil ;-)

    A couple of things, bottom brackets are not all symmetrical, I think on average the drive side is longer than the non drive side, I might have that back to front like I usually get my bottom brackets! 🤣 get it wrong it throws your chainline out.
    When you're synchronising the rear derailleur its good practice to do it on the largest front ring, theres nothing more annoying than finding out you've run out of swing on the jockey wheel cage.

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true! Older BBs do have some different lengths.

    Are you sure that headset is fine? I've got two of these bonded Treks with Avenger headsets and both have a one piece cup at the top.

    The left Deore thumb shifter - what direction do you pull to go to highest chain ring? I’m clueless!

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You push. It starts in the small ring with the shifter ‘closed’ closer to the stop. Then you push it away from you to shift to the bigger rings.

    I have the same bike but from 1991, all original except for the rims, the saddle and the pedals
    conditions are similar to yours
    how much do you think it is worth?

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm just selling it for £150. Seems like a fair price.

      I just picked up a '91 which I'll be servicing. I saw some sold listings on Ebay for 200 dollars and more for this era 7000. Might be worth checking there for comps.

    Hi Guys Quick Question I Need To Replace My Cassette Bk Wheel For Retro Trek Y3 Can I Manage Takeing It Of With Out The Correct Tools ? Many Thanks M.

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to replace the whole wheel with another wheel? You'll likely need the tools to swap the old cassette over to the new wheel and tyres too but the wheel should be on a quick release and drop right out.

    The headset top bearing appeared to go in upside down?? Or was it camera angle?

    • @MonkeyShred
      @MonkeyShred  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope, they go in that way on that headset.

      Thanks for your response. On a separate note, did you end up successfully buying the property you were living in? I was following at the time but took a break from TH-cam so lost the updates
