Diamondback are the lowest priced decent brand with a solid quality groupo on ebay and gumtree. An Ascent was $995 bike in the day. anything above a Topanga has some decent equipment and the frames pre 2000 are bombproof but bit heavy until you get to Ascent, Apex and Axis.
Totally agree! Thanks for the info. This bike and also the other diamond back I have run super well and frame is light (enough) and super solid. Very happy with them! 🌚🌚🌝🌝
Awesome job on the Diamondback! I'm impressed with your skill set. I have what I think is a 1986 Ascent with chrome frame. Bought it for $7.50 at thrift store and it's my off road machine. (Limited off road as I am 76 and too fragile for shredding.) You mentioned yours was a 1991. How can I verify the date on mine? I acquired a 1989 Specialized Rock Combo that I'm cleaning up. Not planning to paint it as I like the "patina" it acquired from it's previous owner, a very good friend who bought it new. The aluminum seat post is frozen in the steel frame and my local bike shop couldn't get it free. Fortunately it's the correct height, so I just replaced the plastic seat with an old Brooks and have been riding it as is.
That’s awesome !! I’ve seen db from that era and they look awesome! The only way I check is I google old catalogues online and look through them to confirm through process of elimination. I love old specialized mtbs too! They are hard to get in Australia though. It was so lucky that it was the right height!! Thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the vid! Appreciate it ! 🤗🤗

Thanks homie! I appreciate that 🤗
Awesome job on the Diamondback! I'm impressed with your skill set. I have what I think is a 1986 Ascent with chrome frame. Bought it for $7.50 at thrift store and it's my off road machine. (Limited off road as I am 76 and too fragile for shredding.)
You mentioned yours was a 1991.
@@garysprojects Old catalogs is how I estimated 1986 on the Ascent. I really appreciate your low key but excellent videos.. WD 40 should sponsor you!
