Good video, thanks. My 307 tank was in a different place, but much easier to access. It's probably worth pointing out that the pump continues to push the DPF through, even if you don't reset the dashboard. I had my dash reset at the MOT 2 months after I added the DPF.
Thanks for your response Patrick. I found out today from the garage that the reason they only put 1 litre in is because that’s the maximum it can take. It’s for a Peugeot 407 2.0L HDI
It's a additive that helps keep the dpf filtering to a higher hotter burn and so more of the emissions burn off and keep the filter cleaner for longer so yes it will affect on the emissions its mostly to keep the dpf filter clean so you do not have to replace the dpf filter so often hope it helps.
The more the good information the better when this video was done there were limited equipment and resources but as time goes on the easier it will become thanks for the information update MM
Hi it's a fluid that is add to your diesel tank when you fill up to help keep the particular filter clean as the dpf filter is a kind of Furness the chemicals help burn more off so the filter in the exhaust system will last longer so put simply not really so important that the engine will break up but the dpf filter will have to be replaced earlier with out the fluid and if the filter is blocked you will have problems with engine hope this helps
Hi Patrick great video. I have just bought a Peogeot 407 and that message comes up. What are the implications on ignoring it. The MOT is not for another 6 months.
Nice video Patrik i have a question for you . I have citroen c5 1.6 hdi 109 2010 and i have sometime a problem like fluctuation of rpm between 1700 and 2400. Do you have any ideea what my be wrong ? The injection ok injector ok turbo ok. No error on lexia the vallors are ok.pls help. Thank you
Hi Alexandru hard one it may be small air leak on tubes but pressure side of turbo, check wiring on engine harness for any wearing that may have damaged or cut a wire in the harness as doesn't always show on plug in check the ones going to MAF sensor are ok, but most failure like this show up on the plugin as a open or closed circuit , good luck
Hi Patrick thanks for the very detailed and informative video. was just wondering what is the purpose of this additive? my friend had to empty his fuel tank as he somehow filled in petrol. as he did that the additive leaked out as the connection where you refilled it had to be disconnected. however, after getting the engine going again, the car did not report any faults... should he bring it in to get it topped up? 508 gt sw(2.2diesel)
hi thanks for the reply the only reason I am asking is because my garage has said to get it from main dealers but I have found it in my local car shop a to z autoparts and they sell pat fluid for this problem the main dealers have said to me to see what colour the connecters white or blue I think, and then they will supply the correct fluid
Hi also wanted to add that the additive has chemicals that clean the DPF filter in the exhaust system and makes it last longer otherwise it would block much earlier and having to be replaced hopefully this is useful .
Hi if he she has put petrol in to the additive tank (there are two tanks your additive tank and the diesel tank ) then yes you need to drain and refill with additive , just so you know the additive in the additive tank puts one shot every time you fill your main diesel tank there is a counter PCB that can tell how many shots are left so as the add tank gets low the the warning come up to tell you it needs topping and then this counter is reset if you fill the additive tank and use the computer to reset the PCB, if the diesel tank should get filled with petrol then it should be emptied and filled with fresh diesel but the petrol in the the main fuel tank does not affect the additive tank so you are ok to carry on until it need's a refill hope this helps
Hi if you watch video you see the can of pat fluid it's standard dpf filter cleaner so as long as it's a diesel fuel additive for cleaning the exhaust filter it's fine it's known as pat fluid you can get it from any car part dealer I used euro parts uk you also need a kit to do it + you need to then need reset the ecu as per video thanks for your comments
the filling part was a bit dubious mate, if the black plastic looking pipe draws additive from the white fitting pipe on additive tank, then surely the black plastic pipe is going into the FUEL tank. if im correct you just put 4.5 litres of additive into your diesel tank. feel free to correct me if im wrong, I appreciate you going to the trouble of helping folk. just dont see the additive tank having a pipe fitted to a fitting and then just going back into the tank it came out of.
Hi just need to check if it has a dpf filter fitted there is an exhaust large round silencer type box with smaller tubes coming out of it and in the middle under car in line with the front driver and passenger seats but I think the filters came in 2006 on if there is a problem it will flag it on the dash .
Just a note in some cases the computer plugin will not communicate with the fuel additive ecu , if so its probably locked out so disconnect the fuel additive ecu and reconnect it, if this does not work replace it, you can buy second hand ones on eBay ..
Hi it would show the message fluid additive low if the fluid was out so if the mileage is around 100,000 to 130,000 and this is about the time for a new dpf filter eBay around £200.00 but we have a car @ 130,000m that has showed dpf filter from time to time when booted since 100,000m runs fine other wise but we are thinking of doing filter soon.
Hi Patrick, great vid and very useful, just what I was after. I have a 53 Plate 406 2.2 HDi Estate that's done 85k miles. I mainly do daily short journeys, with the odd monthly distance trip. On the longer journeys, I can often hear the regen relay clicking in and out, as the Eolys is added but never on the shorter journeys. I believe mine is also the ECU Counter System rather than the older Level Gauge System, so any ideas how far away I am from getting the dreaded "Low Pat Fluid" warning? Does the additive usually run low sub the 100k miles mark? I only ask because I don't intend keeping the car for more than perhaps another 6 mths, so whilst I'm quite confident about doing the re-fill, especially thanks to your vid, it's the investment in money, particularly the software that I'm looking to avoid but will do if I must. I'm certainly not paying garage prices! I have a fault code analyser but I'm guessing this will be insufficient to do the resetting? Any advice you could provide would be greatly received. Thanks in anticipation.
Hi Fastdags sorry not been on for a bit anyway we had problem from about 100,000 but that was the dpf blocking changed that at 120,000 cheap from euro part 130.00 QUID short running is the killer on this type of system longer running is good but short running would show early problems so 75000 miles on good luck
hi vin not sure if the fluid pump keeps pumping liquid into the fuel tank when it show low on dash I think it would but to stop the warnings on the dash you will need the computer to reset the pump controller regards Patrick
how critical is this ...by that , I mean , the fault came up in my car today (Peugeot 207) , but im absolutely skint , so can I drive it for a few days ?
Are 407 just had this fault and it blew a pipe off the back of the engine...lost all power. oil went over the back silver engine cover at the back of the engine. making hell of a noise now.
Where can I buy the fluid, and what kind of fluid should I buy. I found one but it's too cheap, its like 20£ for 5L so I don't know if I should put that one.?? Please awnser. My car is 1.6 HDI
Hi thanks for your comment the fluid can be purchased from you local motor parts dealer and give advice on the use of it also in the video it shows the type I used, purchased from euro parts UK thank Patrick
Brilliant you will probably find the location of the PCB / ECU for the additive tank we had some that would not reset with the plugin and so need replacing but but never completed this as we did know where to find it but anyway would be great if we had that location info Thanks
Hi, I have a 2008 Peugeot 407 2.0 HDI and got the low additive message a few days ago. There is absolutely no place here in Australia of which I know where I can buy this additive except for taking it to a service that deals with Peugeot cars. Tank refill + deletion of the error code, all of that for $650. So I have ordered the PP2000 app and cable from eBay, and also thinking of ordering the additive from the UK, however I am not sure which additive to buy as there are a few, and I have read I shouldn't mix additives which makes little to no sense at all. Anyway I will try to get the right but I need your help on that. How do I find out which one to use?
Try www.phoenixlubricants.com.au for JLM refill kit - I've read there are many types & are very specific to your Pug... which Peugeot use many different types.
Great video. I get these messages about dpf etc. I sent my car for to change my dpf and refill EOLYSE. But they could not read the codes because of other problems. So I sent the car for to take a diagnostic. The fault code came up P2408 (fuel cap error). So I got a new original Fuel cap (the one that was on the car was unoriginal without magnets). But now it says "fuel cap sensor/circuit" error. So I have ordered a new sensor but have to wait a looong time for it. Do you know where the fuel cap sensor is connected on the tank?
Hi Bård Kvale the cap connects to a small ECU that controls the delivery of the fluid from additive tank location of which I don't know but I have known the box to lock out so you can't reset it and would need a new one or try unplugging it and reconnection sorry I can't help more than this but thanks for comment it contains some great information
Thank you very much for the answer :) I guess I will find out where it is connected when I got the part. I know one of the ends with the sensor is connected on the top of the filler tube and the other somewhere near to the diesel tank.
Hello. Will it work on a Peugeot Partner 63 plate? I just filled the tank with dpf liquid, and I still have the message "p low level, dpf risk of clogging". I am using DiagBox as a tool (laptop), and I have two errors, one saying there is too much dpf liquid in the dpf, and the other one saying that I need to change the filter all together (dpf). But getting the low level, risk of clogging on the car screen. I am beyond frustrated. Thank you for any reply
Dodo M hi yes same system as 407 even though you put fluid in the dpf fluid tank the chip counts the injection of fluid to your main diesel tank and then puts a message up as it know so much fluid has gone from your dpf fluid tank , so computer is needed to reset the chip for it to start counting again hopefully this help thank you for looking
how long after the message appears will anything go wrong with the car!? I've just bought 307cc and this message has popped up, but no idea how long it was there for prior to purchase. Obviously I'll get it done asap, but just wondering, tia
Hi Luc Perry would say it's not an emergency but sooner the better it's a additive for the diesel and helps keep the DPF filter clean in the exhaust system the filter will still need replacement between 100.000 to about 130.000 miles as and when the warning comes up on the display thanks
Hi, I recently had the "diesel particle filter additive level too low" message, so took it to the garage and they've remedied the fault by adding the required fluid however, they've only added 1Litre of the fluid. Is this amount sufficient or does it need the full 4.5 Litres? If not, how long should I expect it to last before the warning triggers again?
John D hi the program I use only just resets the counter which has no idea of the contents of the tank but will show low fuel additive after it counts the 5lt shots to diesel fuel tank but if the tank is empty or has 1lt then the message will not show untill the amount of shot for the full tank has be achieved in the program it has no reset value's just says it has reset the counter ,so if you had no fluid in the tank and reset it it would clear the message But have no additive but would not stop the car running but dpf filter would block sooner and have to be replaced .
hi just an update had the fluid from Peugeot which was filled by garage. the garage took the message off but still has not cleared on dashboard. any ideas?
Rabiya Khanom Hi if you do not reset set the ECU that counts the miles up as shown in the video it will not clear and as in the reports there are some ECU that lock out and won't reset read the notes on here and most information is in the written and video sometimes you need to replace the part hopefully helps regards patrick
hi 456eec been off for a time so sorry for delay I went to eBay that's where I got the program pp2000 software and loaded it my self but was a pain, better to get pre loaded on lap top bur costs about £250.00 hope this helps thank you best regards
I Have peugeot 407 , 2009 ,164 000 km and right now show me that FAP ADDITIVE LOW , what I need to do ,just to put additive? Ps-sorry If I make gramar mistake,my english is not perfect. Thanks and greetings from Montenegro 😉
Hi no problem Ermin been off for a time so sorry for delay you must follow the process in the video you "can not " just fill the tank the computer or ecu needs to be reset to 0 as it works on counting the amount of times the fluid is added to the diesel tank so by plugging in the computer to the ecu and setting the counter to 0, then the fluid will be added automatically every time you fill up with diesel to your main diesel tank ,hope this helps thank you best regards from the UK
HiErmin Abdovic yes ridiculous is the word the fluid is super expensive as I said in the vid it was about £100.00 for 4.5Lt over here in UK and that was at near cost price so with the software it was not cheap to do it your self but I have used the software since so it will pay for its self :} I hope
Hi AnGelZunDeR Thanks and sorry not been on for a bit but, all in video software is Peugeot's pp2000 and they sell the wire with the disc on eBay with lap top pre loaded or disc load your self just look under Peugeot's pp2000 and plugin
Hi Rabiya Khanom thanks and in answer to your question is no need to go to dealers you can get it from car part dealers like euro parts or on eBay good luck .
use gloves (or other protective gear like glasses and breathing protection), this substance is dangerous, is absorbed trough skin and if swallowed, can be lethal. And better work is with Walker eolys, if you fill with eolys kit, you have completely closed circuit of additive and you are way much better protected.
2016 daughter had hers done at peugeot dealer 200 euros in france Warning sign on . drove car for about 200km befor dealer could schedule her in for service.

Tight arse , doesn't want to pay up for refill . Willing to pass it off to someone else though .
Thx for this Clip! One dumb Question maybe, I´ve got a 407 from 2005 with a 1,6 Liter Diesel Engine since one week. Does it have the Pat Fluid also?
Thanks a lot! Very very helpful!

hi mate is yours the 2.0 hdi? what the fluid called
Hi
Can you tell me what version pp2000 you are using please ??
hi paul lee yes it was v47 pp 2000 hopefully this helps
Hey I own a 407sw, and id like to use the software in my laptop, where can I download the software and buy the wire?
Hi AnGelZunDeR Thanks and sorry not been on for a bit but, all in video software is Peugeot's pp2000 and they sell the wire with the disc on eBay with lap top pre loaded or disc load your self just look under Peugeot's pp2000 and plugin
