    Great review, you know loads about cars, and that comment about Greg taking his sausage dog a walk, in the pouring rain conjured up all sorts of images...greatly amusing. Peace be unto you.

    I have 407 SW 2.0 hdi from 2005. I'm the first owner. It has 375.000 km. The reason I'm still driving it is because I never had any big problems with him. I have full package of equipment, leather, electric seats, navigation and everything still works perfect. I'm considering buying new 308 SW but no way I will sell my 407 for 2000 or few more euros. I will just keep him. Best regards from Croatia👋

    This is one of the cheapest car on the second hand market, so I thought it might be crap. But I guess it seems pretty capable.

    8:20 - I personally associate Peugeot with great little hot hatches and the 406 coupe which is gorgeous !

    Peugeot are a funny old company. They made boring cars, then they made ok cars, then they made very pretty and elegant cars, then they made spectacularly ugly cars, now they make pretty cars again. Despite their looks, they were always quite a nice car to drive especially in countries with roads made out of rocks and holes like they are here. It looks like a gormless fish, but then all French cars of the period looked un peu poisson. I wonder what happened, perhaps there was a lovely sea bream on the menu at a French car design conference in 2002 or something. I once went all the way to Newcastle in one of these, not the proper Newcastle, the other Newcastle, the one way up north. Jimmy Nail. It was ok, comfy, quiet and whilst I didn’t drive it I thought it was ok. The roof is awesome, Mrs Miller has a friend with a 307 Space Wizard with this roof and an unexpectedly luxurious interior if you’re in the back being driven through a city then it’s a very nice experience. The 407 Coupe looks like my friend Robin. I’d very much like a Peugeot, but not this one. I’d like a PX10.

    As having owned many French cars I believe most people who hate them have never travelled in one. Also none of them visited a garage apart from a annual service and MOT which they passed. Strange one that model 407, to have steel wheels and a full length glass roof with a blind, maybe someone swapped the alloys at some point in its life.

    My 2.2 sport is a fantastic car ,,,, never had a car so big that corners so well , a new cam sensor and crank sensor made the engine feel like new at 100,000 miles plus .DPF warning light finally vanished with the cam sensor . . smooth as you like and more powerful ,,, is no slug ,, Big Dopey estate ,,,,, NOT . Great driving position , most comfortable car I,v ever driven. It eats miles on motorways with great fuel economy and comfort . Don,t blame the car for poor maintenance . The traction control button actually allows you to accelerate on ice ,,, very impressed with this beautiful car ..

    I like this! I really like the front trademark badge, the rear styling reminds me of the Renault Vel Satis.
    A little too basic for me; it kills me that you get keep fit rear windows on low spec models.
    I wonder if you could have gotten this 407 SW with a V6? I know you pay by the litre, we in the US pay by the gallon, plus diesel is more expensive than unleaded petrol. You should be paying for fuel (petrol) by the gallon instead of a litre!

    Excellent review. You are spot on with your analysis that the bold exterior design - which I really like - is badly let down by the bland interior. Où est le légendaire je ne sais quoi français?

    I had a petrol Xantia in the 90's, lovely thing to drive. I got rid of it before the warranty expired, though. I didn't fancy shelling out for repairs.
    The usage of the Infidel's name has been noted and will be discussed on Monday night 😂😂

    Been in a few of these over the years ( taxi drivers seem to love them). For me there's too much front end for my liking, the 406 was a better balanced design. Doesn't the 75 tourer have an opening tailgate window? Interior looks too bland,like most of the budget went on the exterior.

    • @craigpickles6910
      @craigpickles6910 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the 75 tourer does have the opening glass on the tailgate which I can only imagine BMW brought to Rover as all their tourers have opening glass too.

    Personally speaking, I believe Peugeot haven't made a decent car since the 406 Coupe. That reminds me, the 406 Coupe started life as an "Alfa Romeo Nautilus" styling idea.
