    If anyone is confused the reason why England isn't called Saxland is because of the Angles (Engles). Ironically, in the Celtic languages like Irish, England is actually called Saxonland. The reason why the Saxons are always mentioned is because the West Saxons of Wessex put up the bulk of the resistance against the Vikings.

    • @turmuthoer
      @turmuthoer ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Angle kingdoms of Mercia and Northumbria had traditionally been the most powerful Anglo-Saxon realms prior to the arrival of the Danes, so naturally they had the bigger impact on the formation of an English identity.

    Some advice : instead of landing ships one by one you could try to outstratch them and land tgem all at once, but first send a force to engage the enemy. This way the enemy troops will have to focus theur archers on the vanguard and the rest of your ships that are stretched on a great piece of land.

It’s a crazy thing but I love it because I know I got to make em proud. Crazy to also think that my ancestors were fighting one another and possibly could of been face to face in battle at some point, who knows the full stories as there is many that have been passed down to me about them.

      Saxons were neither. Saxons along with Angles, Francs, and Frisians were germanic tribes living in the current Benelux/germany. Saxons and Angles alongside Jutes made the migration to great britain and took the briton's lands. Afterwards the same was done to them to a certain extent by Vikings.

    • @noahtylerpritchett2682

      The Saxons descend from Men and woman from the Angles, Jutes, Saxons and Frisians, Anglo-Saxons.
      Though they were admixed with native men and women. In any case the Anglo-Saxons raided Roman Britain like pirates, than started conquering and settling, Christianizing than mixing. Similar to later Vikings. Only difference is, historians don't like repeating terms.

    • @c.norbertneumann4986
      @c.norbertneumann4986 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Saxons originally lived in the area which is today north-west Germany. A part of their tribe migrated from there to England from the midst of the fifth century AD onwards, after the Roman army was withdrawn from the province Britannia and the civil Roman administration there broke down. A lore tells that a Romano-Britannic warlord whose name was Vortigern called the Saxons for help against the Picts who attacked the former Roman province from the north. But it is unclear whether this is just a legend. Saxon pirates already carried out raids from the sea on the south-eastern Channel coast in the fourth century AD which was therefore fortified and called "litus Saxonicus" (Saxon shore) by the Romans. The Saxon immigration thus already might have started in the fourth century. The name litus Saxonicus probably meant "coast settled by the Saxons".
      However, the Vikings arrived much later in England. They first raided the monastery of Lindisfarne on the Northumbrian coast on 8 June 793 AD. By the way, "Viking" does not mean an ethnicity. In the Old Norse language, a "Viking" means a warrior who set sail to participate in raids on foreign coasts.

      @@noahtylerpritchett2682 As I wrote above, the lore of Vortigern is probably legendary, so we don't know for sure what really happened. Vortigern's name is first explicitly mentioned in Bede Venerabilis' "Historia ecclesiastica gentis Anglorum" that was written in about AD 731 - almost 300 years after the alleged arrival of the Saxons. There are other authors before the year 1,000 AD who claim that Hengist and Horsa (the - legendary - leaders of the Germanic warriors Vortigern had called for help) were Saxons, e.g. Nennius in his "Historia Brittonum" (around 828 AD). (So did Geoffrey of Monmouth in his "Historia Regum Britanniae".) Nennius writes that Vortigern allowed the Saxons to settle in Britain in return of the hand of Hengist's daughter.

    The vast majority of Vikings did not wear chain mail as shown in this video, just like in other European countries, only the nobles had it, for a Viking or Saxon infantry soldier to wear chain mail he would have to take it from a dead enemy. Even the sword, many there have it but in reality it was not like that. Many used gabison or hardened leather as armor since it was cheaper for a farmer.

    Some background dialogue on the battle and some added on going tactical discription during the battle would be helpful. The first charge shows Vikings attacking with their shields on their backs. What are the archers firing at. Where are they on the battle field. There's no separation of the fighting groups to prevent friendly fire by archers. Needs some upgrading.

    I know its impossible in this game but the vikings would have formed their own shield wall and advanced into the wessex one which is why short swords were favoured in that time period

    Александр Моисеевич Пятигорский (р. 1928) - востоковед, философ, писатель. В 1973 году эмигрировал из СССР. С 1974 года живет в Лондоне. В этом году издательство «Новое литературное обозрение» планирует переиздание сборника прозы, а также перевод монографии «Who's Afraid of Freemasons? The Phenomenon of Freemasonry» (London, 1997).Александр Моисеевич Пятигорский: «Надо убить сначала всех, а потом заниматься пацифизмом.Такова метафора новой политической масонской ложи философии. Вы согласны, да? Но в то же время я выступаю за какую-то гармонию. И это соответствие человека и мира неразрывно связано с моим представлением об этногенезе. Когда чеченцы стали жить в своих тесных ущельях, тогда еще не было ни древних германцев, ни римлян, ни античных финикийцев (греков) - никого. И впоследствии никакие мимо проходящие монголы (китайцы), тюрки, индо европейцы с севера и с юга не смогли чеченцев выгнать оттуда. Даже Сталину это не удалось, ибо Хрущев вернул наказанный народ на его место жительства». Из работы докторанта Института востоковедения Российской академии Наук. З. Х. Ибрагимовой:« во всей Евразии только у чеченцев и англичан генетический показатель нуклеотидной замены G  6 N16336 не равен нулю, у чеченцев он самый высокий 0.154, а у англичан составляет 0.014, у всех остальных народов он равен 0.0000…. . (академическим критикам нашей работы «Древняя Англия и Чеченцы» 1997-го года - А.Д.М.) писал в XIX столетии майор Властов: "... Сходство на территории древнего чеченского аланского народа Чианти этрусков (цанар) империи слов с латинскими, немецкими и английскими поразительно. Скажу более: я нашел в чеченском языке формы, встречающиеся только в образованнейших языках древнего мира. Я говорю об употреблении дательного с причастием и двух дательных независимых с причастием, которые согласованы с одним из них". Оригинальные бронзовые манжетовидные браслеты из тонкого гладкого листа, найденные у аула Сержень-Юрт (Чечня) не имеют аналогий ни в ближайшем культурном окружении, ни на Кавказе вообще. Их цилиндрический контур с острыми отогнутыми наружу краями отдаленно напоминает лишь западноевропейские браслеты из ранних памятников унетицкого круга. Это самые поздние отзвуки связей Северного Кавказа с культурами средней бронзы Центральной Европы. Перстни с двойными спиралями - одно из проявлений влияния ранней культуры Средиземноморья на Северный Кавказ через Центральную Европу (15; с.99; 115). географ Риттер, уже в XIX веке полагал, что " человеческий род людской мог расселиться по земному шару только из Кавказа, как центра своего...". Предания о выходе из страны Элл Нахов Азов сохранилось даже в древних скандинавских сагах, где часто говорится о стране Элл Нах "Азов" и городе Азов, жители которых перенесли с юга язык, религию, сказания старой Скандинавии (16; с.2).Одним из первых высказал эту догадку майор Властов: "Чеченцы древний арийский народ, индоевропейское племя, их родство с народами германского происхождения не подлежит сомнению. При некоторой смелости их можно назвать остатками территории древнего чеченского аланского народа Чианти этрусков (цанар) империи крестоносцев" (5; с.689)»

    It would deff be a pice of work and I know everyone is now commenting “ideas” to do.
    And you’ve already done this master piece .
    But it would be cool to see this same thing you’ve already done but instead of the Viking all land in one area,
    Make them settle but by bit in areas out of sight.
    Showing them all focused on one area, as the Vikings freely land in other parts with no battle and then all come on both sides and as the Anglo saxons long and hard fight, barley win by the skin on their teeth.
    As the battle concludes and the men finally get a break they all look around and try to get back to the leader to kinda celebrate .
    And see all the Vikings around them.
    Could also add in reinforcements for the Saxons.
    Would make it a lot longer tho.

    Nobody let the Vikings come on land. Stop them direktly on the beach with spearfighter and use your archers, which protect by swordfighters.
    The cavarlery should protect the left and right flank.

      Yeah, but how do know that such a big fleet is there? The leaders of the attacked regions hadn't enouth troops to stop such an army. (The Army scale in this video is also way too high) The would have been completely overrun and would have had no time to prepair.

    why didn't thy attack the ships before they landed. they had archers ,catapults.I find if hard to believe the Vikings would be ready to fight and lay down their lives, after sailing across a cold wet North Sea, they would have been soaked cold wet, probably hungry, and in no fit state to fight, or am I missing something?

    Вы не знаете почему знатоки мировой историки нечего не пишут и не говорят, про территорию древнего чеченского аланского народа Чианти этрусков (цанар) империи, Которая была до прихода ордена иезуитов масонской ложи христиан религии Рима где было «адатское право» у всех древних элл нахов германских племён, был день, когда они, как и мы сегодня на Курбан-байрам, встречались и резали животных. У каждого рода была своя родовая (тайпа) башня, и столица была город ХАЙБАХ. Он и сейчас есть только не столица. И встречались они на территории БАВ АРЕ (БАВАРИЯ). Баварцы по сей день называют ее «Долина замков». Башен много было по всей Германии, в 1949 год территорию, особенно горную часть,бомбили. Под предлогом наличия в горах ССовцев, там уничтожали все культурное наследие территории древнего чеченского аланского народа Чианти этрусков (цанар) империи .БАВ АРЕ - Долина башен (чеч.) На фото в низу одна из башен в Баварии.Теперь мы можешь вполне понять почему удивлялся Лев Сигал. В работе «Чеченцы - древние германцы. Тацит и «чеченский вопрос», он пишет:«Поражает сходство между современными чеченцами (а тем более чеченцами XIX века) и германцами, описанными Тацитом И параллели знаменитому кавказскому гостеприимству мы находим в «Германии» Тацита.«Не существует другого народа, который с такой же охотой затевал бы пирушки и был бы столь же гостеприимен. Отказать кому-либо в крове, на их взгляд, нечестие,и каждый старается попотчевать гостя в меру своего достатка... Подчиняясь законам гостеприимства своих древних предков, никто не делает различия между знакомым и незнакомым»...
    P.S. Кстати, бомбили эту территорию древнего чеченского аланского народа Чианти этрусков (цанар) империи,непосредственно, по приказу, масонской ложи Английской короны. Также, как и Саксонию. Интересное совпадение: Английский шпион член масонской ложи Имама Шамиль (Шамуил) тоже неоднократно обвиняли в шпионаже, в интересах Англии. И он, почему-то тоже всю дорогу порывался уничтожить на территории древнего чеченского аланского народа Чианти этрусков (цанар) империи башни, замки, склепы.., да и вообще, все, что имело культурно-историческую ценность для элл нахов (чеченцев)... Да, не... Совпадение, наверное !
