If you are referring to Clontarf, we ended Viking influence in Ireland with that decisive victory, lead by King Brian Boru, high King of Ireland, who died during the battle. AD 1014.

Very good example, and yes a great battle happened just down the road from m, but not many people of the town no about it. We also had the first stone Irish castle built in Ireland in Tuam town by the high king around the same time he used Tuam as his base to deal with some Irish clans aswell as vikings but there was a very big battle back in that time frame I think so interesting stuff

My da told us the story of Brian Boru when he and the boys took on Olaf "Skull Splitter" and his guys. He said that as Olaf's axe was coming down Brian who was down on the ground swing his sword. According to my dad about the time the axe split Brian's skull, Olaf lost his legs at the knees and bled out. Damn stinking horn head bastids disturbing an afternoon of imbibing for the boys.
I enjoyed this very much , the only thing that I would've liked to see included is the battles narrating rather than reading the battle movements , but enjoyable nonetheless , thanks.
This would seem to be a mock portrayal of the Battle of Clontarf in 1014 AD but that is not the way it turned out, The Irish led by King Brian Boru were victorious, effectively putting an end to Danish/Viking rule in Ireland. It is true that the Vikings summoned extra forces from abroad for the mega battle but were still outnumbered and thwarted by the assistance and reserve forces afforded to King Brian by other provincial kings, notably one Maolseachlan II who managed to scupper the vacated Danish ships offshore, cutting off the Danes' escape. Of course Ireland's troubles would continue with future invasions by Normans and English etc. The Battle of Clontarf, if portrayed correctly, should make a good film just as the Battle of Bannockburn did portraying the Scots, led by Robert Bruce, defeating the English.

Just to point out, this was not a strictly Irish v vikings battle. There were Irish and vikings on both sides eg limerick vikings fought with Brian boru, and Irish, from the Irish Kingdom of Leinster, fought with the viking leader, King Sitric of Dublin. Also there are experts in viking Irish history who believe the Battle of clontarf was more a draw than an outright victory for the forces under Brian boru. Reason being that following this battle the vikings continued to rule Dublin until the arrival of the Norman in 1170 approx plus the fact that the viking leader, king Sitric, remained as king of Dublin for over twenty years after the battle.

И это эпическая битва, решившая судьбу целой страны, и пожалуй что не одной. Троны Британии тем и хороши, что едва ли не единственные в серии позволяют проводить в игре битвы в масштабе 1 к 1 в сравнении с их реальными прототипами раннего Средневековья, в отличие от Рима-2, Наполеона и других игр серии.

It seems wery clear to me as a swedish modern norseman how mutch mentality built on culture and religious beliefs ment for winning the battles. If our ancestors had our modern scandinavian mentality they should pee and shit in their pants and jump in the water drowning when trying swimming back home. I dont mean to lack respect for my people, no today that should be same for all modern europeans because our nice safe lives. But it is better to be a spoiled covard and live in pease then to be a rough barbarian and die in pain in the battlefields. The reason the Irish were defeated so often is because the Irish were always fighting amongst themselves. The Irish were never unified. They still are not.

Well you probably spent a lot of time and effort in making this. I will thank you . The battle. Such gentlemen the Irish, waiting patiently for the enemy to disembark, & form up before battle. No ambushes, no skirmishes no traps set. Lovely flat ground for the enemy to maneuver. Mounted infantry, Never seemed to attack the flank. Irish deserved to loose.
the vikings would have had the advantage in a way most were from dublin which was viking city and clontarf was few miles north of the city. (its a suburb of dublin now)

As a child with my daddy we would drive along Clontarf seafront. When anyone would say what is that awful smell ? (Low tide) my daddy would say, in broad Dublin. “That’s a very historic smell kids…this is where Brian Boru beat the shi*e out the Danes” 😂
Being of Scot, Irish, and Lakota decent, I'm not certain who I should root for. Therefore, I'll side with the Lakota nation and take my spite out on the US Army. Though I proudly served for eight years as a Ranger. Hell, I'm going to be confused with this for awhile.😨
Seems there was little in the way of tactics; the armor of the Vikings seems to have won the day. Holding the heavy axemen in reserve until most of the Irish missiles were spent was brilliant, though.
interesting video. It was a slogging match as depicted. Brian Boru was high King. The death of Brian Boru is worth a mention. The death of Broader of Manx for killing the King was gruesome. The fleeing Vikings after the battle could not get to their ships, because of the tide. Thank you for bringing life to the event.

@@philipcamp1370 as they did in England, the Vikings tried several times to subdue all of Ireland. But unlike in England where they held much of the land(Danelaw) they never succeeded in Ireland. The Irish knocked the Vikings off bro the sea each time over 250 years. The Irish allowed them to have trading ports in Waterford, Dublin, and Limerick. This fact is conveniently ignored by Viking historians.

Obviously the battle Clontarf was not as straght forward as the Irish driving the Vikings out of Ireland forever, huge losses were sustained on both sides and the vikings of Dublin had irish allies and Brians army had viking Mercenaries in its ranks too. but Clontarf was very decisive in terms of ending any plans of Viking rule in the interior of Ireland!

Сделано конечно очень круто и красиво, но совершенно непонятно, зачем потребовалось делать настолько огромный масштаб битвы - применительно к тому времени и региону битва в 30 тысяч человек есть абсолютно ненаучная фантастика. Тот же Гастингс, гигантская по тем временам битва двух мощных сил и крупных централизованных богатых государство самого конца эпохи, собрала в себя не более 15 тысяч участников максимум. И это эпическая битва, решившая судьбу целой страны, и пожалуй что не одной. Троны Британии тем и хороши, что едва ли не единственные в серии позволяют проводить в игре битвы в масштабе 1 к 1 в сравнении с их реальными прототипами раннего Средневековья, в отличие от Рима-2, Наполеона и других игр серии.

It seems wery clear to me as a swedish modern norseman how mutch mentality built on culture and religious beliefs ment for winning the battles. If our ancestors had our modern scandinavian mentality they should pee and shit in their pants and jump in the water drowning when trying swimming back home. I dont mean to lack respect for my people, no today that should be same for all modern europeans because our nice safe lives. But it is better to be a spoiled covard and live in pease then to be a rough barbarian and die in pain in the battlefields. I find the history about my ancestors interesting But I do not want to walk in their shoes.

The reason the Irish were defeated so often is because the Irish were always fighting amongst themselves. The Irish were never unified. They still are not.
The irish beat the vikings at the battle of sulcoit,glenmama and finally clontarf.The vikings fought a battle in ireland at carlingford lough amongst themselves so it wasn't just the irish who were disunited.
Brian Boru beat the Vikings..the English however in 1066 did not...

Подготовились бы заранее, построили волчьи ямы, загрождения из кольев, выставили бы формацию, впереди щитоносцы и копейщики, или пикинёры, сзади копейщиков лучников, во второйлинии мечники и топорщики и расстреляли бы Викингов когда они будут высаживаться с кораблей, а пикинёры и копейшики, под прикрытием лучников, не давая дотянутся до себя, кололибы успевших высадиться Викингов, а мечники и топорщики довершили бы разгром, натиском к концу боя!
Почему нельзя было так сделать, зачем ждать надо было Викингов, где-то в поле...?!?!🤷🏻🤷🏻🤷🏻

The battle. Such gentlemen the Irish, waiting patiently for the enemy to disembark, & form up before battle. No ambushes, no skirmishes no traps set. Lovely flat ground for the enemy to maneuver. Mounted infantry, Never seemed to attack the flank. Irish deserved to loose.
This reminds me of the battle of Maldon,where the East Anglian levies politely made room for the Danes to form up...foolish...
But they won!

How about a home advantage because the defenders can pick and choose field of battle.
the vikings would have had the advantage in a way most were from dublin which was viking city and clontarf was few miles north of the city. (its a suburb of dublin now)
The Irish people arent really people you want to fight, they will beat you 9/10 in a fair fight 😂 even the smaller guys have war in their genes.

Being of Scot, Irish, and Lakota decent, I'm not certain who I should root for. Therefore, I'll side with the Lakota nation and take my spite out on the US Army. Though I proudly served for eight years as a Ranger. Hell, I'm going to be confused with this for awhile.😨

Seems there was little in the way of tactics; the armor of the Vikings seems to have won the day. Holding the heavy axemen in reserve until most of the Irish missiles were spent was brilliant, though.
Hum Brian would be a bit latter and, I suggest dividing your army by 10 to make it more real. Also drop a lot of the armour!

interesting video. It was a slogging match as depicted. Brian Boru was high King. The death of Brian Boru is worth a mention. The death of Broader of Manx for killing the King was gruesome. The fleeing Vikings after the battle could not get to their ships, because of the tide. Thank you for bringing life to the event.
