- We just installed a car lift in our garage to take advantage of the high ceilings and to reclaim some garage storage space. that's cool.. now I know who to call when I need to fix my car in the winter.. 😁 nothing like having a car lift in the garage not only for an extra parking spot but working on a car is so much easier..
Your cars are absolutely beautiful, that blue on the viper is just gorgeous. I envy your collection and hope to have something similar one day but I have a lot of work to do to get there as im only a junior in highschool. Hopefully sometime I'll get to drive or own a car like yours but for now I'm driving an old dodge pickup.
You’ll get there some day! Set goals and go get them.
How easy was the lift to move on the casters? I have a width issue, and to use the lift beyond just winter storage I would have to move it back and forth to get to the sides for wheel changes comfortably...

Hey there - how high is your garage ceiling - please, also how are you locking the viper in place so as you don't come out in the morning and find it on top of the Dumen ...?

How high is the creaking from the floor? I have a double car garage and the creaking is not that tall.
What brand lift did you put in and what was the cost of the lift only.

How deep is your garage and how wide is that bay?
When you move the lift over if worse comes to worst you can build a different set of steps coming out of the entry door unfortunately it would have to have a 90-degree turn though.
I got a question though. I plan to live in a minimalist/small space house so i want to know if the lift sound is noisy. Lets say i have an enclosed garage with concrete wall between it and the living room. Will the lifting sound reach my living room?

Can you provide the details of the lift (company you ordered from, install cost, lift cost, etc)? And your ceiling height? Also were those the standard height garage doors?

I am in the market for a lift too but I unfortunately dont' know if it'll work due to living in a townhome with a standard ceiling height that also has storage above the garage doors (the dead space are).
I have a company coming out monday to give a consultation but I guess we will see.

Good video thanks I have the same issue I own Demon #268 was just at Vero Beach racing it but also have a classic Porsche and my wife says I’m hogging the garage. Hope you kept the yellow front bumper shipping strip. Those things are going for $200 plus on eBay
I would sell the Viper and build a decent size garage....LOL
Oh by the way two down factors on these lifts .! No 1 any leaks on top car will nicely oil polish stained bottom car and in winter don’t bother drive top car as you parked back in all ice and road dirt will melt on bottom car 😉
After you move your lift on the casters always double check and make sure the lift cables have not jumped off the lift pulleys.
Great tip. I did not do that, but will check in the morning. Sounds like you are either in the biz or had an experience with yours?
@@WindyCityExotics personal experience; luckily for me the cable broke when the lift was up and set on the locks.

How high are your ceilings? I felt mine were to low but after seeing yours it looks I can make a lift work. I have a simular 3 car garage layout. Also is the lift anchored into the concrete?
I think they are 10'. I have a beam on one side that keeps the door sligthly lower, but I have all kinds of room. I have a friend who has maybe 8.5' ceilings and he's able to stack his 458 on top of his GT3RS. Tight but works
Also, lift is not currently anchored

Good idea putting the viper on top....The Hell kitty would leak mopar all over the viper if it was on top
Can someone help me please? 1) Can you suggest any proven methods of installing such a lift in a garage that has a slope of at least 4-5 inches? 2) Also, would the lift shift if I don’t bolt it to the ground? (I would rather not anchor it as my concrete slab is only 4 inches thick.)
It will be safer to fix it to the ground

They did. They just a dense foam pad of various thicknesses for leveling purposes

The height of the post is about 8 feet
Id definitly have the posts bolted to the floor just in case

Wow,the width of the running board is a bit narrow, which tests the driver’s skills too much.
Looks nice...my garage ceiling is right at 10.6--10.7 feet....not quite 11 feet.....do you think I will be ok with that height....I plan on stacking my 2 cars
I think that will work. Mine is 11 and we have some room.

How has this setup been working for you? I'm having my doors redone into a high lift configuration in a couple of weeks and am currently looking at lifts...I would really like one that could handle my Power Wagon being parked underneath, but the 81" roof height of the Power Wagon has been a trouble point.

Why would he?
He can move it from bay to bay the way it is.
I haven't installed a lift in my garage because it requires at least 4 inches of concrete to bolt it down. This is the first lift I have seen that doesn't require to be bolted down (with the exception of scissor lifts).
Which model did you go with from Direct? was it 7000lb or 9000 lb capacity??

I think someone makes a safety switch so you cannot lift the one car too high. It would be a same to mess up that blue car. Or you could drill a hole in the post do the same thing.
Anti-falling mechanical locks in four post at different heights to ensure safety.
Your flooring is oily. I would recommend cleaning the floors before bringing cars back in. Sudsy h2o, and mops and degreaser

I am looking for the same sized lift and was comparing different makers. With what you invested in your cars, why did you choose Direct over Bendpak? I know Bendpak is more expensive but well worth it for quality, strength and support.

Should have gotten a backyard buddy, Advantage, wildfire, IMO cheap C frame lifts are a waste of money, damn scary when they get any type of defection or warping especially since you didn't mount them in the floor... eek! Dealer tech used them for years, I would never allow one in my home ever. Notice why all the big 2 & FCA now have fully boxed frames on the trucks same reason much stronger design, you paid more for less. You never discussed the hydraulic flow limiter nor does it list it on their website.

Informative. However, camera movements are too fast (nauseating) and sound quality is bad in certain parts.
Why not just go with a 2 post lift?
For prolonged periods, having a car on a 2 post lift is bad for the suspension bushings because it is not meant to hang freely for a long time.

When you order the lift you tell the lift company what types of vehicles you have (by height), how high you want them off the floor and they build it for you. It incorporates the deck height of each track and what weight you want supported. (In case you upgrade or downgrade to a heavier vehicle later.
