    In 2019, I built a 22x25 garage and installed a double wide, 4 post lift. The lift install took less than 2 days. I use colored labels on all 4 posts to indicate different levels on the lift. (My max height, oil change level, brake & suspension level) always a good idea to watch all posts as you raise and lower the lift to make sure you’re not racking the lift.

    I have one of these lifts at my house also. Great addition to the garage for home auto repairs. Biggest issue we have had so far, is the seals on the ram have blown out 2 times. Luckily there is a place in town that repairs them. But the mess it makes when they blow hydraulic fluid everywhere is crazy. We have only been using it to lift VW's and Jeeps so it was not due to being overloaded either. Otherwise they work great. Nice to be able to store one car above the other also.

    Bought and installed an Eagle 9000 lb 4 post. Two guys can do the installation with a floor jack. Greasing the slide blocks will quiet it down. We greased the cables and pulleys too. Ours is not bolted down either. A bridge jack (or two) is essential raising a vehicle off the ramps for suspension, brake work, etc. A two post is probably a better choice for engine/transmission removal, but needs at least a 8" concrete floor with rebar and must be bolted down.

    • @rik999
      @rik999 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also wanted to add that we keep wheel chocks on the ramps. Often you need to roll the vehicle on the ramps when it's in the air (e.g. drive shaft removal). Leave the vehicle in neutral with wheel chocks and a little arm strong on a wheel will let you reposition the vehicle.

I would appreciate if you could please answer all or at least some of my questions🙏

      @NWI Steel you using a rolling air jack. My 4 post lift has two goodyear air jacks. You slide them under the front, back, or both and use your shop air to raise the vehicle off the ramps. Recently, Ive done a jeep grand cherokee, land cruiser, brz, and prius's shocks using the air jacks.

    9,000 lbs will lift most stuff but the lift looks small. I don’t think a full size truck will fit between the post…their new JK might not even fit. My 4 post is way wider which also makes it more stable. I really like my Advantage 9000 XLT. I know you get what you pay for but if I’m under a lift I want to be safe and mine appears to be built at a much higher quality. Larger base plates, box tubing for post. Wider stance, etc. i recommend looking around before buying. I have a feeling TFL will wish they made a different choice just like they do with the John Deere mowing tractor.

    Nice addition to tumbleweed. Tip: When you bring someone who is not used to being in front of camera, coach them to speak to the interviewer. He kept jumping back and forth between Nathan and camera.

    • @thedero3
      @thedero3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This could be partially because the camera person kept interjecting in order to impress everyone about what he knew of lifts, instead of letting Nathan continue to take point. Who we all tune into the video to see, by the way. This confused the workers as to who was running the video and confused the viewers.

    I have this lift and I was surprised to see they left the ramps on when they lifted the car because they can easily fall off and of course hurt you when you walk into them. I also have a bridge jack and on some vehicles it will not reach far enough to catch the frame or unibody lift points to lift the vehicle to work on the suspension/brakes. Is there any suggestions to enable that? I have used bottle jacks when possible

    • @rik999
      @rik999 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use a floor jack and jack stands to raise the vehicle off the ramps before lifting it. Agree about the removing ramps before lifting. If you don't they are exactly the right height to ring your bell when you walk into them 🤕.

      @@NWI_SteelYea, I've been employed as an installer for many different companies, and have done pretty much everything but car lifts lol.
      The thing is after it scrapes enough material down, the sound will go away, and he will be outed for not being genuine.
      Spray some lithium grease down the running surfaces when your done installing, and tell the customer that it might make some noise for a while until it settles in.
      Don't blow smoke up their asses, trying to tell them it's nothing.
      If companies weren't so cheap, they would spring for a piece of delrin or urethane for the inside of each post, but as long as you keep the running surfaces lubricated there shouldn't be a problem.

      Agreed. I used to install two poster and four poster lifts and we always plumbed them upright and bolted them down to the floor due to the fact that they are prone to walking over time as you drive cars up on to the ramp. One side walks more than the other and before you know it one or two of your posts are out of true and this can lead to all sorts of dangerous outcomes. Fix them to the floor please.😅
