  • A few weeks ago I had to move my ‪@advantage_lifts‬ 9000 Car Lift out of warehouse storage and into my home garage. In this video, I will show how to assemble the lift. This process was a lot harder than the disassembly at the warehouse. The biggest issue I ran into was how little space I have in the garage compared to the warehouse. This meant every heavy piece needed to be pre-positioned as best as possible, so that movement after assembly was kept to a minimum. Which is unfortunate, considering one of the coolest features of the Advantage lift is the ability to roll it around the garage on giant casters.

nice video... I was wondering why you didn't move the Porsche and tractor out of the garage to give you more elbow room.

The lawn mower was probably just laziness or maybe we wanted to ensure it would all fit I don't remember. But the Porsche didn't really run at the time, we were afraid if we got it out it may not come back in. I literally just finished working on it today to change that.

I'm real close to pulling the trigger on an Advantage DX9000 after a lot of research on 4 post lifts. Are you still happy with yours or do you have any regrets? Thanks

I have no regrets buying a 4 post lift. 2 post lifts honestly scare the shit out of me. Having a 4 post lift and having the car on ramps where the only thing you need to sort of worry about is getting it basically equally placed on the ramps which is not hard. Two post lifts are definitely not as safe since you are lifting the car at 4 small jack points. The 2 posts is obviously much cheaper and takes up less space which is an advantage if you have limited garage space. 2 post lifts definitely have an advantage in being able to quickly remove your wheels if you need to work on your brakes or something else. But the ease of mind I personally feel getting under the car with it on ramps on a 4 post lift is well worth the money in my opinion. The safeties the Advantage lift has was a big selling feature for me. The only thing I would change which isn't a fault on Advantage, is the height of the posts. So when I got the lift initially we had a warehouse workshop and so ceiling clearance wasn't a concern. Now that it is in the house garage the post height is a bit of an issue especially since the garage has a support beam that runs through the middle at 7 feet above the ground and the posts are 7'9". The Backyard Buddy B-4P7CL has posts that are a foot shorter and would probably be able to fit under the beam when on the rolling casters. I did buy the rolling manual jack, and the 48 inch ramps since I have cars that sit really low to the ground. At the time I don't believe they sold the metal drip trays, if you can upgrade to those to replace the plastic ones I would do it. I lost 2 of my plastic ones to a fuel leak that just ate right through the plastic. The metal would also be way easier to clean. They also did not sell the rubber pads at the time to go under the posts to protect a painted floor and to help with minor leveling issues. I made my own rubber pads using heavy duty horse stall rub mats and cutting them to size but now that they sell them I would recommend buying them if you want to protect a painted floor or need to help level the rack. In summary I love the 4 post from the safety aspect. But it is more expensive and takes up a fair amount of space and if you have ceiling height restrictions or limited space to the sides of the lift it may be difficult to have a 4 post lift and still have space to work.
