God I remember thinking Bounty Hunter was the best solely because you started with the healer
i only played as a free to play and i felt the struggle when you didnt have a healer compagnion so now that every compagnion can do anything ... i miss the struggle days
yep, heck i picked up bounty hunter to get blizz and his rocket launcher.
the final jedi knight fight against the emperor was a real pain. i hadnt gotten T7 any gear since coruscant and was underleveled myself. i also really relied on doc being able to heal me so i died a lot quicker than i usually did. T7 roleplayed an actual astromech vs sithlord fight and died after one or 2 attacks leaving me to finish of the emperor all on my own.
I've been playing this game off and on for nine freakin years and had no clue you could turn off their stun! Thank you!!!!
I learned that one just last year!
Learn that several years ago when I completed MM chapters kotfe& kotet. This solo content was hard on lvl 60 ( some of the chapters) and comparable with NiM ops difficulty. I had to optimize everything : including my companion control and skills.
1-year player: only just discovered you can change their "aggressiveness" last week. 😭

It's not as simple as porting it, those games were built for console accessibility. There is 0 chance of it going to consoles

The best thing they ever did for companions was tying their convos to story progress. Second best was letting them all be any role.
I must have missed that update and only noticed it when all my companions' stories on certain planets kept happening as I was on those planets. I was like, "This is really convenient......too convenient...."

Just a reminder that the Sith Warrior’s companions are THE BEST out of all the classes. Vette is best, Quinn’s spoiler is really well done, Jaesa’s Light/Dark mechanic is pretty cool, Pearce is very underrated, and Broonmark is cool as an alternative to Khem Val. The only other class that comes close to the SW is the Bounty Hunter, I’d say

Disagree about BH. Skadge is evil. Not in a cool darksidey space wizard way. He was legit gonna rape and kill that chick when you first meet him...AND THEN YOU RECRUIT HIM. Most annoying part of this entire game.
Mako is annoying but fine I guess.
BigFatCock yeah, I know Skadge is a total dick but all of the BH’s companions bring something to the table like the SW’s comps. The SW and BH companions are probably the best in the game where everyone else’s feel weak or just decent
@@rollinbacon2953 This is a bit of a stretch tbh. Companions like Pierce and Broonmark are not complex characters at all and are very easily forgettable.
by best you mean ? more attractive or more funny? All the companions for all classes have absolutely same skills just displayed with different graphic (icons). Also cd( cooldown) of their skills are all the same. There is only one exception in this game and it's called HK-51. Before you comment go and review CD of his skills (he has significantly shorter CD-s which make him best dps companion because of the simple fact: he is designed to be in constant autorotation using permanently and constantly all the skills -> means no glancing bows(hits). Also - Yes I know Visla (I have every single companion in the game). She is not better.

Before you could change their combat role IMO the best companion I had by far was Khem Val for the Sith Sorcerer discipline. He was just such an awesome melee tank for a ranged sorcerer and made that storyline/playthrough a blast. I used him for the entire story.
Vette was such a great part of the SW story

@@YourCrazyDolphin Same with Bounty Hunter, we had Gault and Mako but we had to endure: Skadge who was always complaining, thank god they gave us the option to kill him in the later expansions. xD But to be honest apart from Broonmak who i just ignored i liked all Sith Warrior companions, Vette is easily the best, Jessa Light Side is just so naive which i enjoy, Pierce is my loyal Soldier and Quinn is a snivleling weasel who i scold every time i can for his betrayal, but i keep him with me. :D
@@burnbobquist8999 Jaesa was exactly who I was referring to when I said "least". She doesn't work with any level of neutral. Either it is murderhobo, or trying to reform the empire. Shut the fuck up Jaesa: Just because I don't force choke my own officers doesn't mean I want to reform the Sith.
I remember the old days when companions were limited to a specific role, and you had to wait until Chapter 2 of the Jedi Knight story to even unlock your healer Doc on Balmorra
That really forced you to understand your Jedi Knight well and learn how to survive in fights.
And it used to cost a fortune to have to gear them up as well.
You can handicap yourself and make companions fit role they would realistically

I played FF14 for 5 years so switching to this game is a refreshing experience. But I have to say your one of the best and most helpful as far as mmo youtubers go.
this was pretty cool to know, i really love bringing companions to quests in the old kotor games n hear what kind of input they have to some decisions or how things are turning around, it was sometimes disappointing that i could bring someone along and didn't say squat, alas i think the same will happen here but im looking forward to this once i can play the game. Awesome video and i love yer voice, it makes listening the vid much more enjoyable.
I wish I could redo class and companion quest without creating a new character. I’d be fine to do them without exp I just wanna change some of the choices I made for fun.

I hope we get more story scenes with romances like Vette, Nadia, Jaesa, Mako as well as the male romances etc. Really feels like they're "bricked" at this point. We don't get any more scenes at all, instead we get too many entirely new characters. Devs should start giving old companions and romances more love
I’ve never really liked using companions because I didn’t really understand how they worked. After this though, I’ve finally figured them out. Thanks for the great video :D

A little tip for your companions combat roll. Personally I put mine on DPS for all normal content, but if I come up on a boss, heroic missions or some other great challenge I set em to heal. I find that I don’t need the extra healing in basic content a majority of the time.

I'll literally starting this game all because of your guides, making it so easy to get into the game and my GF loves Star Wars so I really want to get her into this game.
I have Shae Vizla through that one promotion. My buddy who got me into the game had gifted me a 2 month sub around that time because he knew how I liked Mandalorian lore and characters.

The companions, player ships and crafting is such underrated systems that are all connected together in a nice synergy.
Blizzard tried to copy these systems in both WoD, Legion and to a lesser extent BFA. But all of them didn't eveb come close to the quality of Swtor.
By not only talking with them, but also letting their opinions be known in conversations you formed an emotional connection with them and created a bond between player and companion.
The player ship felt like home and was the homebase of players, not only through gameplay mechanics but also storywise. It felt really good when you reached LvL 20 and finally got your own ship. But unlike garrisons in wod you weren't trapped inside the ship.
Crafting was also a great use of companions since you could do it while doing other activities, you weren't forced to stop everything to craft stuff. But it still felt rewarding.
It is cool that we got more companions now, but I do feel that we kinda lost some of the personal touch when it was just the player and his/her small crew travelling the galaxy.
So far my favorites are Vette, Lana, and Ashara.
When it comes to characters I wont romance, I love Corso, Malavai, and Andronikos. Those guys are just a good time lol.

Ashara is one of the strongest companions? No wonder she’s always been my favorite.
Just wish we could make her true dark side. But I’m also proud that she’s so strong willed.

Great job as always. However, I noticed when you were discussing manually using a companion's abilities that you neglected to mention their Ctrl+(number) hotkeys, which some players may prefer over clicking.

Nicely done. Small nitpick: Your companion's combat performance is 100% determined by your Presence stat (their damage, health, heal potency). Companion influence determines how many points are added to your Presence when they are summoned.

This is a very obscure tip... but if you have a ranged companion and for some reason you need them to be in melee range... like maybe when soloing master Hammer Stations end boss... you can unequip their weapons and they will run to punch people in the face (while still healing of course).

i like most the changes they did. but i do miss each companion having special roles... personaly loved treek....... and forget the other 1 or 2 i used to have. been many years since i played. i really liked their story quests.

I don't think she does, but she does have a special Star Fortress cutscene if I remember right!

Not a dialogue option, but just the other day I was playing through KotET for the first time while having Treek and during episode 9 when youre all gathered in the cantina to celebrate, she has a quick quip during the cutscene where she says something along the lines of, "This is boring, I would rather be out hunting." Koth asks what she said and Theran translates. It was pretty neat as I didnt expect it lol Havnt done Star Fortress with her yet (so Ill have to do that again at some point) and havnt seen any other cutscenes where she takes part so far.
As she is a companion that is obtained outside of any of the main stories, she cant really take part in any of those stories. Except for little bits like the Star Fortress or the cantina where she basically just makes a quick cameo. Its a shame, but understandable.
One thing you could add to this, or make a separate video of is answering a question I see from time to time: "How do I dismiss my companion so that they are not automatically summoned? (i.e. cutscenes, after crafting, zoning, grouping, etc.). The only way I know of to do this quickly and easily is to use the spectator terminal in the Rishi stronghold (don't forget to turn sprint back on as it turns it off). Maybe you know of more ways to do this?
Oh interesting, I've never even heard of that option before.
F2 key works passive mod 1x disable 2x enable too, i learn to change that key use for other items like mission log or collection windows, you be meddle of a battle by chance press F2 key be killer of the battle mood you be feeling then die
Is there a list for the companion specific cutscenes/dialogue?
Does anyone know what the preferred player level cap is today? I just subscribed don't plan to stay subscribed, so wondered if I can still level my characters up to level 75 or if they're stuck at level 65.
For Sith Inquisitors, who would be a great companion for tanking or healing? Since my SI isn't that all good when taking in hits..

i like starting with shae vizla at level 1 then at level 10 I get my HK-51 from my legacy bank, I still don't know how to get some of the other companions that are found.
Idc if hes not effective, I love my Nexu companion! Hes like a dog companion. I name him Dog Meat :)

I'm playing through the sith warrior story and just got 2V-R8 as a companion. I'm wondering if it's worth taking them over Vette for the next set of missions? Would I be missing out on optional dialogue one way or the other?

I've got her as a subscriber present. Don't remember the occasion or time tho. But it is bound to my account, thus every new char gets her from level 1 (+ Paxton, who was another present).
I guess being a subscriber might give you some non-mentioned gifts from time to time, because every celebration or event might carry some. Watch out for these videos - she is announcing every give-away that is available.
Just gotta wait and see if she ever comes back.

Help! So how do we compare companions? They say that there are no differences, you just want to use the one that you have the highest influence on. But I heard you say here that at the very least that one might have a stun ability which is useless in some situations. So like if I go to the companion guide on your site; none of this is listed. I have noticed that, like different skill specializations. I have Quentin Fees to level 10 but I won robo greedo from gambling so I just wonder if it is better to train him up, or just keep fees with me. I am a Shadow Jedi and just hit level 28 so
Can you change the locks oof you companion not just the armor?
Do you know if I have to stay DS to romance DS Jaesa? My Sith Warrior is more of a neutral to light side Sith and I only forced Dark 1 just to be able to convert Jaesa. Now that I have DS Jaesa, can I go back to my neutral/LS choices, OR do I have to maintain DS in order for her and I to get married and have kids?

I love the game, but i haven't played it in a while because life is hectic. One thing i have always thought would be an improvement for the game would be to take along multiple companions to make a full party of 4. Like you said before, you eventually start collecting so many companions you don't know what to do with them all. So, why not add a small update to the game to have 3 followers whole you are out on missions. Sure you might have to buy the feature because it is so convenient like everything else, but i think the price is worth paying just to make the game more enjoyable for solo play.

@@TheRogueJedii i know right? Being able to do solo flashpoints would make the game much more enjoyable for higher difficulty ones. I understand the idea of trying to connect with other players, but sometimes you just want to do somethings yourself.🤷
I’m quite new to the game, I have a full set of 306 but can’t find an up to date list of best in slot mods/augments I can use? Can anyone help? It’s a combat medic commando for PVE :)
@swtorista how do you activate the sprinting mechanic?
If youre a subscriber or preferred, you start the game with it and its automatically on. If youre FTP, you get the ability at level 10 and it can be toggled on or off by going to the "General" tab in your skills menu (the P button).

I just got back into swtor and I am leveling my sith warrior and Vette does not have any blasters. Where can I buy just some cheap blasters for her to use so she can attack?
Ohhh good question. Hmm. Try the supplies section of the fleet - look in a corner room for the adaptive vendor. Or the Galactic Trade Network section of the fleet, the big green terminal, and buy some cheap ones there for her.

so having been with this game off and on again since beta its amazing just how far its come, ied say its at least on par with wow and ff14 only they have the advantage of been fully supported by Subs.
Where do they talk about sending your companions on missions?
Do Companions have a customization slot so where I cant apply clothing that I think looks cool while still keeping the buffs of the other clothing?
Clothing has no effect on companions anymore - it's just cosmetic. So yeah, dress them in whatever you want too. I have to go now - Lana is giving me 'that look' again...

She also can railroad you into a narrative of reforming the Sith.
