      No substitute for a Rolex......

    • @tap2262
      @tap2262 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I couldn’t possibly agree with Great Challa more. The early Tudor “Big Block” chronograph 94xxx references have appreciated considerably of late, but still represent excellent value. Similarly, the later 792xx “Small Block” models share more of the Zenith Daytona aesthetic and the pre-Tiger models with 78360 Oyster bracelets can still be found at reasonable prices. These examples represent great daily-wearers with significant upside. This being said, I do agree with the other poster that there’s no substitute for a Rolex...as long as it’s sporting the heavily-massaged Zenith El Primero movement. You’re pockets simply have to be much deeper to afford one of these, as opposed to the Tudor alternatives.

    Always love your shopping Videos and your walk around the shops.
    One scary not as I was watching and you were talking I was asking my Alexa to convert Yen to USD which she has always done easily and fast. What scared me was after doing four of them yes asked me if I was Watch Shopping! when I got over the shock I said yes. She then pulled up my watch purchase history with Amazon which was a Trans Ocean 1915 Two years ago.. Then went on to suggest a Breitling Super Ocean and asked if I wanted to put it in my cart.Very unsettling.
    Question my Rolex Guru. Last week my AD surprised me while I was buying a small bracelet for a friend, nothing big an few hundred USD. She Knows I like Rolex and had bough a GMT from her and a few other watches over the past two years. Breitling Tudor and the GMT.. I digress. She went in back and came out with a new 41mm Submariner date Black Bezel. Still in the coffin and asked me if I would like it.. Like a trained seal I clapped my flippers thanked her and bought it. Now the question, I have had it a week and just love it. But the Bracelet squeaks like an old car suspension that needs to be lubed. It's not Rattling mind you its squeaking as in metal on metal. Is this something that will go away of should I take it back and bring it to the AD's attention. Have you heard anything like this from a Rolex?

      Value is subjective specifications especially. To many people that are non watch people Rolex symbolises success from poverty or normal lifestyle and a start to entry luxury. Non watch people, Rolex is the jewellery of choice for people to say I made it. It’s not expensive for 10k + a watch almost anyone can get em but I guess it’s a ingrained de facto branding image that caused this popularity just like Apple not necessarily value for money or good specs but it just works and packaged well. My dad owns a Rolex date just in gold and with factory diamonds cost 10k + in the past now worth 25k upwards. if adjusted to currency growth that watch simply grown in value roughly 7k.
      Rolex tick all the right boxes in terms for brand recognition for non watch people everyone knows what Rolex is and what it implies. Omega, AP, PP, alange, Breguet, etc etc are all Brand’s that non watch people knows. A non watch people would never know you spent 20k on a PP and those people that “made it” wants people to see. That’s how people are showmanship.
      Of course true watch people appreciate watches for what it is not it’s brand prestige or popularity. A different thing for everybody.
