Live in Australia but have been to Nakano three times in the past three months. I could spend days there looking at the huge selection of new, used and vintage watches. I'm a collector of Grand Seiko so it's very satisfying to go to Nakano to see JDM models.

I bought my Explorer 1 from Jack Roads in Nakano whilst living out there. Was a good exchange rate at the time. Coupled with it was a few years ago I now have watch that’s over doubled in price 👍

I've been to Nakano twice and bought really nice watches for a good price. I was going for Tag Heuer, Oris, Omega, Seiko and Longines, amazing place. A must!! Austin forgot to mention Bic Camera, nice department store with lots of watches. 👍

I’ve had only favorable outcomes when dealing with reputable Japanese dealers. I have always felt that their descriptions were accurate and even somewhat conservative. This being said, the viability of a Japanese purchase is also dependent upon the prevailing FX rates. At present, prices for good vintage pieces are generally higher than in Europe or the US, but it’s a far more curated shopping experience. Given the prevalence of vintage Rolex and other brands with non-original or modern replacement parts, paying a premium to go shopping in Japan certainly makes sense for less sophisticated buyers.

Japan's the place to buy 90s early 2000s Tudors like small blocks and hydronauts Imho others are about UK/EU prices.

I'm not too familiar with Vacheron, though I do have great respect for the brand.
But when you do decide which one to target: see what's on Rakuten, make a shortlist of perspective pieces, and then hit the shops to check them out in person.
