  • TravelWithRogerBrooks.com - I travel 200+ days each year and have tried just about everything in terms of how to fold clothes, packing toiletries, what to do with laundry, dealing with TSA rules, and what carry on luggage is best. In other words, I’ve finally come up with the perfect way to travel without having to check a bag. This little video will save you time, money, and stress-free travel with no chance of losing a bag, and the hassle of lugging around oversized bags. Enjoy!
    ROGER’S CHOICE:
The Tumi bag I show is the previous model to the Tegra-Lite line. It’s a 22” hardshell continental carry-on. Here is the latest model: amzn.to/2REALpT
The bag I now use is the Tumi Arrive Macarthur Expandable Carry-on Packing Case: amzn.to/2RECjQQ
My wife swears by her very lightweight Tumi Voyageur Carry-on: amzn.to/2lk1GIQ
I also use the Tumi T-Pass Business Class Leather Brief Pack: amzn.to/2CgcqwX
This backpack can hold my computer, projector and all the gear. Even the folks at the Tumi store were amazed when I showed them all the equipment it could hold.
My uses the Tumi Voyageur Carson Laptop Backpack: amzn.to/2lOhx2P
ROGER’S LOW-COST ALTERNATIVES: Often the choice of suitcase comes down to cost, so here are a couple low-cost alternatives.
This “Amazon’s Choice” 20" hardshell carry-on is a great low-cost alternative that will not disappoint. amzn.to/2lNkkt7
This great low-cost alternative backpack will hold a massive amount of gear and is TSA friendly! amzn.to/2jQjSty

If you have access to a washer/dryer, that makes things a lot easier. I can't wear shirts more than once even tho I wear t-shirts. I get an old man smell.
I found out that Karen uses a scent free detergent. I wondered why I smelled like my granddad did. I fixed that by using a scented one and wool dryer balls. Granddad can rest in peace.
This 56 year old, soon to be 57, only smells when he is supposed to and not because of the clothes or sheets. I just get them for sensitive skin for Karen.
Good luck and sweat it out.

I think that may be the most pleasant and entertaining packing video I have ever seen. Well done!!
Having said that, I am a big fan of travelling light. I can say that in the past I have over packed and regretted it. I realized that I could pack two pairs of shorts and they'd last for days. One or two pair of pants. Just several shirts. Part of the key (at least for me), is having dark colored shorts and pants that will hide any type of dirt. Navy blue, green, maroon etc. The same with shirts and
t-shirts. I do not pack t-shirts per se. I pack colored t-shirts that will go with my shirts and shorts, or pants. When we have gone to Europe, we stay at AirBnB and use the laundry. Man oh man, you don't want to be lugging big suit cases. There is no reason to do that. A 22 inch carry on is all you need. We went to New Orleans several weeks ago for 4 days and our carry on was almost half that size. We lacked nothing and had room to spare.

As someone who travels frequently, I've found the best way to get around the carry on pain is to travel with a bag barely small enough to qualify as a carry on, but gate check it. That way you're not searching for overhead space during boarding, but also don't have to deal with the bag check lines or the baggage claim inconvenience. It's really the best of both worlds.

    • @Onlinesully

We have found it to be a MAJOR pain the butt to find or to do laundry every time that we have been in Europe. Just know that most hotels will offer to do your laundry but it is super expensive. Leaving shortly for Switzerland and Spain for 10 days and am going try our hardest to not have to worry about doing laundry. Also, if possible, take some old socks, underwear, shirts, etc. and pitch them along the way so you have room for any purchases. Who cares if you look a little rough on your 8 hour flight! Pitch those clothes on arrival

Agreed. Rolling a dress shirt is guaranteed to have more wrinkled. He actually travels a bit heavy. For two weeks in warm regions I carry three tee shirts, three pairs of socks, three shorts, jeans, and a dress shirt. I then wash my socks and tee shirts in the sink and just hang them in the closet to dry.

Having just carry on luggage used to be the trademark of experienced travelers. Now everybody is doing it. As a result, the worst thing about traveling, after the security hassles, is boarding an airplane while 90% of the passengers are competing for overhead compartment space. Good luck trying to get to your seat because the aisles are jammed. Then of course the compartment above you is already full because earlier boarders from 3 rows away took your space. I can foresee the day, a few years from now, when travel videos like this will be extolling the virtues of checking your baggage to avoid the headaches of carry on luggage.

Great tips if you sleep in the altogether, don't feel the need for a bathrobe, have no plans to get dressed up in jacket and tie, swim, or work out, can pay for all restaurant meals, do not need an umbrella, rain jacket, or gifts. Packing for a woman also requires slips, braziers, dresses and skirts (with matching jackets and sweaters) in addition to pants, shorts, capris, cosmetics, perfume, jewelry, matching shoes, scarves, hair curlers, power blow dryer, way more shampoo, conditioner and hairspray. But, I enjoyed the video!

    • @rogerbrooks
      @rogerbrooks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I've always struggled with the rolled technique that a lot of my travel friends. like Samantha Brown, (Travel Channel) use. If you roll up a piece of paper, then squish it flat, you end up with a LOT of creases. If you fold your clothes like you see in clothing stores, you can stack more, and you end up with two or three creases versus seven or eight or more.

good tips here, but we usually go for a month, and maybe take a cruise, as well as visit family, so we take gifts. We add a first aid kit, wrist bands for cruising, vitamins, iPads, chargers. There are many extra things we take. We do laundry en route too. I need a few more toiletries than he had. I certainly do cut back each trip.

Not sure about the US but in the UK we can’t take anything sharp in hand luggage and it’s either a case or a back pack., can’t take both (unless that’s just the cheap airlines I fly with) . Like many others have mentioned, it’s just as easy to check in your suitcase and take a small backpack for essentials you can’t live without on the plane (whatever that might be).

I basically pack the same way. I have just watched a lot of videos and everyone is folding the clothes, so maybe I will just keep doing what I am doing. My only concern with your way is the toiletry bags on the bottom of the suitcase. I usually need some of the stuff in the bag to use before I go, so unless I pack right before I leave that would be tough.
